Worth Reading?

Is this installment (and the following ones) in the Nightrunner series worth reading? I'm so in love with Alec and Seregil, and i'm afraid to have the previous books ruined for me. All the reviews lead me to think i should pretend it ended with Traitor's Moon (my favorite of the series) but it's hard to stay away.

DEPENDS. I kept on reading because I seriously love the characters.
The thing is: there's no nightrunning activity in this book. The characters are mostly in slavery and there are scenes that are a bit painful to read (because of the stuff that happens to the characters, I bet you know what I mean).
Err, also, how can the fourth book of a series ruin the other ones for you? /: That's something I seriously don't understand.
Btw, I thought 'The White Road' (fifth book) wasn't really up to par with the others but at least 'Casket of Souls' (sixth book) is once again set in the city so you might want to skip those and read the sixth book instead if you prefer nightrunning plots?
Either way, the special thing about this book is a spoiler so be warned:

Ilar is a character in this book. The same Ilar who tricked Seregil into accidentally killing someone when he was a kid. That alone made the book worth reading for me.

Well the books i liked would still be lovely, but if i hate what happens next i wont be able to think about the characters without that. I think i'll probably read them eventually but i'm going to have a break first. Thanks for your imput!
