Here you will find information on each of the species involved in ◐{Bitten & Forever Cahnged}◑
An Advanced Werewolf Roleplay. There are only five species: Werewolves, Mutts, Kitsune, Kogitsune and Humans.

Werewolf Information:

Werewolves are very strange creatures having their own form of religion and their own Zodiac System.
Werewolves use their own Zodiac system in the same way the Wstern and Eastern Zodiacs are used. Werewoves use it to describe their personas and the elements from within.

Werewolves each hold an affinity, an element of true power. Whatever moon phase they are born undernotes this Affinity. Their entire persona revolves around this and their soul elements.

When a Werewolf is experiencing a point of maturity they will find their element bending more and more into their will. However, not having complete control the elements aid the werewolves when in grave need of their soul elements. It is only a Werewolf who has experienced thier birth moon on the exact day of their birth a second time that will have full control and power over the element summoning it by sheer will and mind power.

Werewolves are sadly rarely ever made and are born rather than changed. The Werewolf chromosone acts as a Recessive Gene passed down from father to son as only males can be born Werewolves. Once the male reaches maturity at the age of 16, he will begin to experience control over the shift no longer changing each birth moon, but instead at will. It is not until a werewolf reaches a certain age that is normally between 17 and higher that they will choose to stop aging granting them with virtual immortality and prolonged youth.

The only way a female can become a werewolf is by being Bitten. At which point, she will either change or die. Women are believed to not be strong enough to take on the beast from within, and it has been noted that once every century a woman rises, being strong enough to take on the change.
That single female is said to be the greatest of hunters and trackers known.

Physiology:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCFUjc...
When a Werewolf changes they exhibit certain details and attributes to their human form. Their fur is the same colour as was their human hair colour.

Werewolves can easily be spotted in wolf form by their brilliant Blue eyes which exist from birth as humans and continues with the shift.
As for the single female her eyes are noted to be a shining Grey-Hazel, almost silver in appearance.

When shifting they assume a regular wolf form slightly larger and extremely powerful having more power over their elements in wolf form.

When a human is Bitten and survives the change, it takes effect immediately and it will act as a poison viral infection moving from cell to cell until at last the shift is complete. Alpha's and Mutt's are the only ones who have the power to spread the change to humans.

Once a werewolf has been born or changed, an Alpha must mark them. This mark is the mark of the Pack, each pack having a unique mark that appears as a birthmark somewhere on the body.
Werewolves who are not acknowledged by an Alpha are called Mutts.

Werewolves do not only turn on the full moon, nor do they have to turn on it. A werewolf can change their form and shape shift at will, whenever they want to, day or night.
However, a single side-effect does take place for werewolves. During the moon phase of their birth werewolves are at their strongest. Each one being different.
The change for young werewolves and newly bitten wolves can be painful and dangerous should they not make it a habit to change at least once a week. A werewolf who does not change once a week at least will lose control in the worst of circumstances.
Older more experienced werewolves will find the change to be far from painful and infact quite pleasurable.

There are a small number of ways an Alpha is born and small details that set Alpha's from the other packs.
An Alpha can only be born during the Winter or Summer Solstice, June 21st or Decemebr 21st. Alpha's are given their rights by their fathers who pass the power down. An Alpha can also be created by killing another Alpha. This of course goes agaisnt the laws of werewolves as it is much like a Monarchy...one does not simply take the throne by force, it is a birth right and those who do take it by force are not the Alpha's of the pack, but an Alpha in general and can spread their mark upon the other memebers of the pack.
Should they choose not to accept the Alpha as their own they will be considered Mutts.

Werewolves cannot partake in drugs or alcohol consumpution as they are known to lose control and will eventually turn infront of humans. Should a change in front of humans occur, there are set rules and guidelines that all Werewolves, including Mutts, must follow.

In human form, Werewolves have heightened senses, reflexes and a strong connection to the earth. Werewolves have greater strengths than humans and are considered the Apex Predators.

Mutt Information

Mutts are simply werewolves without packs. Working off of the same genetics of werewolves with only one exception. They do not have an Alpha and therefore, are their own Alpha's. Unable to mark others rather than Change them, a Mutt has no laws and are considered the bad pups of every liter.

When a Werewolf is born and an Alpha does not claim it with it's mark, it will take on the change on it's own and simply be called from that point forward a Mutt.
The physical difference between a Mutt and a Werewolf is that Werewolves have Blue eyes whereas Mutts have Crimson-Blood Red eyes.

Mutt's are the lawless outcasts of packs and the unmarked ones. Some cannot help it for a mere fact they were turned by a Mutt and therefore have no Alpha's. Other's were simply born and never claimed.
However, there are the few Lone wolves who exist that have lost their packs or have been cast from them and turned to mutts.

Most Mutt's are kept in check by the Local Werewolf Pack (LWP) having complete files on them at all times. In case of said animal attacks, Mutts are pretty much tagged by Alphas. They do not move without the pack knowing about it.

Kitsune Information

Originating in Japan the Kitsune are a female of their species. Not very different from Werewolves int he aspect of shape-shifting into a canid. Kitsune are women who can turn into Foxes rather than wolves. The Fox Maidens are the Sirens of the world. They lure men as seductresses and have their way with them in hopes that it may continue their species, given that the male form of the Kitsune, the Kogitsune, have vowed to never breed with the "Fox Maiden Whores".

Of course every story has more than one side to it. The Kitsune are believed to possess superior intelligence, long life, and magical powers. They are a type of yōkai, or spiritual entity, and the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit.
However, this does not mean that kitsune are ghosts, nor that they are fundamentally different from regular foxes. Because the word spirit is used to reflect a state of knowledge or enlightenment, all long-lived foxes gain supernatural abilities. The Kogitsune simply saw the darker sides of these temptresses and vowed against them. It is their better nature that mankind grew more intimate with.

There are two common classifications of kitsune. The zenko (善狐?, literally good foxes) are benevolent, celestial foxes associated with the god Inari; they are sometimes simply called Inari foxes. On the other hand, the yako (野狐?, literally field foxes, also called nogitsune) tend to be mischievous or even malicious. The Nogitsune were the ones giving the Kitsune a bad name.

Kitsune who can survive for as long as 900 years when shifting into Fox form will have a noticeably different coat of fur changing from the normal reds or blacks to Gold if it is a Zenko Kitsune or Silver if it is a Nogitsune.
After 900 years of life the Kitsune is blessed with Foresight and can be a notable Medium or Psychic when trying to make a living in the human world.

The Kitsune are nothing like Werewolves when it comes to packs. They cannot simply make more of themselves...Kitsune must be born. Their entire species is a dying breed due to the Kogitsune refusing to mate with them any longer. This has forced the Kitsune into crossbreeding with other species such as Werewolves and Humans. Unfortunately, this leaves a wide window open for the possibility that the child conceived is not a Kitsune and rather a Werewolf or a Mortal with the Recessive gene.

Insightful History:
Shapeshifting

"Fox women" by Bertha Lum: kitsune as women

A kitsune may take on human form, an ability learned when it reaches a certain age—usually 100 years, although some tales say 50. As a common prerequisite for the transformation, the fox must place reeds, a broad leaf, or a skull over its head. Common forms assumed by kitsune include beautiful women, young girls, or elderly men. These shapes are not limited by the fox's age or gender, and a kitsune can duplicate the appearance of a specific person. Foxes are particularly renowned for impersonating beautiful women. Common belief in medieval Japan was that any woman encountered alone, especially at dusk or night, could be a fox.

[Side Notes]
This part can be correct to an extent. Kitsune may take on human-form whenever they desire. However, being wise women they gain their power from their years. A Kitsune cannot fully control her Fox until she has reached between the ages of 50-100. This is when she may shift at will. Otherwise, like werewolves who are newly changed they will change during their birth moon by force.

["Fox women" Continued]
Kitsune-gao or fox-faced refers to human females who have a narrow face with close-set eyes, thin eyebrows, and high cheekbones. Traditionally, this facial structure is considered attractive, and some tales ascribe it to foxes in human form. Variants on the theme have the kitsune retain other fox-like traits, such as a coating of fine hair, a fox-shaped shadow, or a reflection that shows its true form. In some stories, kitsune have difficulty hiding their tails when they take human form; looking for the tail, perhaps when the fox gets drunk or careless, is a common method of discerning the creature's true nature. A particularly devout individual may in some cases even be able to see through a fox's disguise merely by perceiving them. Kitsune may also be exposed while in human form by their fear and hatred of dogs, and some become so rattled by their presence that they revert to the form of a fox and flee.
One folk story illustrating these imperfections in the kitsune's human shape concerns Koan, a historical person credited with wisdom and magical powers of divination. According to the story, he was staying at the home of one of his devotees when he scalded his foot entering a bath because the water had been drawn too hot. Then, "in his pain, he ran out of the bathroom naked. When the people of the household saw him, they were astonished to see that Koan had fur covering much of his body, along with a fox's tail. Then Koan transformed in front of them, becoming an elderly fox and running away."

[Side Notes] Once shifting between forms Kitsune have no problem whatsoever concealing themselves from the eyes of mortals. The Physical attributes of beauty are still there for the most part and quite common.
As for hiding their identity, unlike werewolves, the Kitsune can get drunk without affecting her shifting potential and control over the inner beast. However, should a Kitsune be photographed in human form or Fox form a fiery aura will distort the picture in the shape of a fox or human. There are also few mortals who have the unfortunate gift to see beyond appearance and see the beast for what they truly are from Kitsune to werewolves some humans possess the worst gifts.
Kitsune do also have a deep hatred for domesticated dogs and find them between repulsive and/or frightening.

["Fox women" Continued]

Other supernatural abilities commonly attributed to the kitsune include possession, mouths or tails that generate fire or lightning (known as kitsunebi), willful manifestation in the dreams of others, flight, invisibility, and the creation of illusions so elaborate as to be almost indistinguishable from reality. Some tales speak of kitsune with even greater powers, able to bend time and space, drive people mad, or take fantastic shapes such as a tree of incredible height or a second moon in the sky. Other kitsune have characteristics reminiscent of vampires or succubi and feed on the life or spirit of human beings, generally through sexual contact.

[Side Note]

Kitsune do have a great deal of powers and abilities that not even the werewolves could match. Having a complete soul element over Fire and Lightening Kitsune can have next to full control over these elements, whereas werewolves simply hold the affinity of the elements which will aid to their need when in danger.
Willful manifestation in the dreams of others, and the creation of illusions so elaborate as to be almost indistinguishable from reality are all powers of the Kitsune, but Invisibility and Flight not so much.

Kitsune do hold a power over Empathy and Amokinesis. They can bend mortal emotions to their will and feed off of the soul energy of others to make themselves stronger. this is a ritual that must take place during intercourse, but it is not uncommonly used.

Kogitsune

Also originating in Japan like the Kitsune. Kogitsune are of the same class, but not the same species. Where as Kitsune are all female the Kogitsune are all male.
Another difference is that Legend states the Kogitsune being a male form of the Kitsune, AKA Werefox, when in fact the Kogitsune in reality are not Foxes at all, but Werecoyote's.
Much more dark oriented than the Fox the Coyote is the true Trikster Spirit simply turning a small number of Kitsune to their ways of thinking. The Kitsune who did follow the darkened path of the Kogitsune were called the Nogitsune.

Wars had broken out a number of times between the Kitsune and their allies and the Kogitsune and their allies. It was the oath of the Kogitsune that ended the wars and possibly foretold of the extinction of a species. The Kogitsune were not pleased with how the Fox Maidens went about flaunting themselves to mortal men for mere pleasure. This angered them that their women could not stay committed, of course they should have known like themselves it is impossible to tame a wild spirit. The Kogitsune decreed that they were never going to breed with the Kitsune ever again. And had either species not crossbred over the ages they would not be so lucky as to be on the endangered list so much as the extinct list.

Kogitsunes are interesting in teh aspect of facts that they allhave a solid colour eye. Black...not dark brown or any dark grey shades....Kogitsune have black eyes. When in Coyote form were one to stare long enough into their eyes should they have the misfortune of the chance...they would see the moon phase the particular Kogitsune was born under. Some say beyond the moon you will also see your death. Of course that bit could be the fact that few have ever survived the encounter of a Kogitsune.

Kogitsune have just as much power as the Kitsune but instead of Fire and Electricity runnign through their veins they hold a delicate and unbalanced reign over Air and Shadows. The Kogitsune and truly darkened spirits, well this is true for the ones who are still purebred. When crossing species and getting an untold outcome the personas have a habit of altering.
