message 2: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments So I just finished Tail Spin and I really enjoyed it. What do you guys think about Debi's dad. I doubt he's just going to stop snooping around just because Daniel could touch the necklace!

message 3: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments Yeah, he must have been really confused, because all of a sudden Daniel was fine with silver. If I was him (Debi's dad) I would think "Oh, he must not be allergic to silver, but then why would he avoid going near the necklace?" And the only conclusion seems to be that Daniel was being rude. So Daniel saved the werewolf secret, but in doing so turned Debi's dad against him a bit more!

Daisy | 1399 comments This one is my favourite in the series, but it's a shame Ivy wasn't in it. I mean, I don't know how she could've been, but I just would have liked it.

message 5: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments Never, Ivy doesn't come on set with them. I know I want the two series to overlap but come on. This is too early :)

message 6: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments I meant to say if Ivy was in it it would have been too big an overlap too soon. The little hints are what made me smile.

message 7: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments One more thing :) *Spoiler*

I was just thinking about the part where Mackenzie is teasing Debi about not knowing Olivia when she had said she did and then Olivia runs over and is all "Hi debi!!! It's so great to see you etc". Then mackenzie is stood there with her mouth open because jackson arrives and then all of a sudden she bursts out "JACKSON I LOVE YOU" etc and jumps into his arms!!!! LOL :)

message 8: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments Yeah, that must have been so embarrassing for, like... everyone present. lol

message 9: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments When's the next one coming out? I really want Daniel to tell Debi he's a werewolf.

message 10: by Isabel (new) - added it

Isabel (COOKIES_STAR) | 2 comments Im really exited for this series becuase there awesome and also that in the 1 book i think Debi said that she was from... I forgot the towns name.. brain fart. anyways i was like isn't that were ivy and her sister live???? and i looked back... since i haven't read the MSTV in a long time and i was OMG they're going to over lap the stories some how!!! now i'm just waiting for that to happen.

message 11: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments It's Franklin' Grove ;)

Both series are so good and yep I love that they overlap. It's awesome!!!!!!

message 12: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments Soph, it's just Franklin not Franklin' lol!

Yeah Debi is from there, she mentions Charlotte Brown (Ivy's arch-enemy in MSTV) and Olivia Abbott once or twice I think.

And I agree with Sophie, the overlap was awesome. I loved it, I hope they do it again sometime. Do you think they will?

message 13: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments I think they............................

Will? I guess.

Daisy | 1399 comments Yeah, I love parts like that too! So epic.

message 20: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments So I recently reread Tail Spin and loved every second. I don't have many thoughts because most of the time it was just "I LOVE THIS", but one thing I did think was that the storylines in this book were very clever. When you think about it, MBTW could have just been a trilogy because most of the major plotlines were wrapped up in the third book (the Beasts knowing who was the werewolf in the family and accepting it, Justin telling Riley how he feels about her and Daniel doing the same to Debi). However, this book still had an interesting story and for me it didn't feel like a fourth book was forced into the series unnaturally or anything. I really, really hope Sienna Mercer writes a fifth book!!

message 21: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments I will re-read this soon! I promise.

message 22: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments I finished my re-read of Tail Spin this morning and I totally agree with you throughout most of the book I was just grinning my face off thinking 'I LOVE THIS, I LOVE THIS'. This book is so good! I find the My Brother The Werewolf books so hilarious and this was no exception. I loved all the characters and as always Sienna Mercer's writing was perfection.

Daniel is still awkward around Debi but I found it much easier to read in this book than the previous ones. Probably because he was awkward because of the Silver Doom rather than because of Debi herself. The storyline with the 'big dog' was awesome! I agree I really hope Sienna Mercer writes a fifth, and if she does I really hope we get to see more of Emma in it. Justin and Riley were a bit over the top in this book but I still found it cute so no complaints there. Actually thinking about it I don't think I have any complaints about this book. I LOVED IT!

message 23: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments I agree with everything you said there, Sophie! Great to have someone to bond with over the love of this book, lol!

message 24: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments I just finished this book...again and it's so much fun. I will never get tired of re-reading these books and grinning my head off. Some thoughts:

Daniel and Justin overheard Mr Morgan on the phone and he said "I know Serena didn't turn up anything conclusive, but I suspect she was closer to the truth than even she realised." I'm fairly certain this is referring to Serena Star from Fangtastic! which is awesome! I wonder how he found out she was investigating vampires.

I love how Justin embraced the dancing, he was dancing from place to place instead of walking! Him and Riley were very mushy in this book. It was almost too much for me (quote: "No guy could be prouder than I am when I'm around you, Riley Carter" or "I'm glad I'm learning grace and coordination, but I have to say, there's one major fall I'm awfully glad I took [...] The one when I fell for you!" and "I didn't make a fool of you." "I'll always be a fool for you") Out of context they sound so cringe-y but during the story it's not too bad because they're messing around rather than deadly seriously saying I'll always be a fool for you. Plus the books are meant to be feel-good and Justin and Riley are so great together!

I've never noticed before how Debi and Riley fangirl over Jackson. Riley even squealed when she saw that he was coming to Pine Wood. Of course I love that Jando was in MBTW, in fact the hospital fundraiser scene is one of my favourites from both series. Olivia being excited to see Debi, Mackenzie jumping into Jackson's arms, Coach Johnston and Miss Samantha dancing together after Justin and Riley said they'd be good together, the security guard reminiscing about his first love with a tear in his eye. So many little bits I loved!

Emma and the she-wolf story line was so good. I love that Winifred Peters is a she-wolf. I wonder if she knows about vampires seeing as she's a werewolf and she writes about vampires. She also said about writers being more intuitive than most, she could tell Daniel was a werewolf from something in his eyes. Something to consider!

message 25: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments I've finally got around to re-reading it too, and yep, amazing, as always!

Yes, I always thought he was referring to Serena Star. He probably knows about it since she broadcast her whole investigation on TV...? (lol)

I know, Justin dancing was great. The scene where Daniel was asking his dad about she-wolves and Justin was doing the cha-cha-cha was hilarious! Very clever how she took a simple talking scene that might have been boring and made it funny and active. Justin and Riley are definitely cheesy, but I found I was OK with it in this book because I feel like they admit that they're cheesy and ya know; they're happy so I'm happy. :D

The hospital fundraiser scene: SO GOOD. I totally agree with all your points. I think that's a cool plot twist that Winifred Peters is a she-wolf - so much more original than if she was a vampire or a human who had no idea about vamps. I'm not sure if she knows about vampires. The intuitive thing does kinda feel like a hint I agree, but didn't Ivy once say in MSTV that the Count Vira vamps were nothing like real ones? Or maybe that's just her trying to throw people off the scent. It does make you wonder, if you knew that a paranormal creature existed (or were one yourself), wouldn't you try and find out if any of the others existed too? That's what makes me think lots of the werewolves and vampires must know about eachother.

message 26: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments Oh... yes I forgot Serena broadcast it all. Haha, oops.

I do remember Ivy saying that it was full of untrue vampire stereotypes. Like you said though that doesn't mean Winifred does't know about vamps, it could all be a ruse. I thought that too, if you are a vampire (or other paranormal creature) surely you would think, at least for a second, that there's a chance werewolves are real too.

message 27: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments Here were some of my thoughts while I re-read this:

First I think it's really cool that Mr Morgan likes Count Vira as much as Debi does. It's nice when parents and kids have interests in common like that.

The Beasts are always hilarious, of course, but I particularly loved the bit where Kyle was grossed out about Justn sneezing, then it said Justin had once seen him drop a chunk of steak, save it by flicking out his dirty football boot, then kick it back up into the air and catch it with his mouth, plus all the bits where they'd start showing off for Emma. However I wasn't sure about this bit:

Emma gave Kyle a cool smile. "Well, I don't care much for football, but all that flipping and tumbling reminded me of some of the athletes at my old school."
Kyle glowered. "No way your football players could do what we just did!"
"Oh I wasn't talking about our football team." Emma batted her eyes innocently. "I meant the girls' gymnastics team."
Daniel felt Debi take a nervous step backwards. He didn't blame her. Emma had just dissed Kyle's football skills - who knew what the guy might do?

Then there's this:

'"Dude," said Chris Jordan, using his sleeve to wipe a trickle of burger juice from his chin, "did I just hear Dan-o say something about extra training.
Justin nodded. "You know me. I like to take it to the max."
"But what did you mean about Riley? Don't tell me you were training with a girl!"
"Who do you think created his training chart?" said Riley easily.'

Sexist at all? :/

On a more positive note, I thought it was so cute when Daniel said with Emma he knew what it was like to have a sister. I literally want a new MBTW book just to see more of Emma and their friendship. Love it! Also I thought her mysterious crush on one of the band members was a cool way to stop the band fading into the background. Honestly throughout the whole book I was seriously impressed by how many threads there were - it really felt like everyone had something going on in their lives which was great.

message 28: by Sophie, The Joker (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments Oh yes I noticed the gymnastics team quote when I read it and wasn't very happy, but obviously forgot to make a note. Thanks for pointing that out. My first instinct is to think less of Kyle but it's Daniel, the narrator, who made the assumption that Emma meant to insult Kyle and the whole basis for the 'insult' is that girls are worse than boys and that implying Kyle reminds Emma of girls is a bad thing!? Did not like that part.

I totally agree with the last paragraph of your comment! It is such a fun book (apart from that above part).

message 29: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments Hmm, I guess Daniel did make the assumption but by the sounds of it Emma was implying it herself, how she was batting her eyes innocently and everything. Plus Debi took a step back so it seems she interpreted it as an insult. It's such a shame that actual girl characters adhere to this negative stereotype of girls! :(

message 30: by Sophie, The Joker (last edited Jul 24, 2017 12:12PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie | 1255 comments :(

At least both MBTW & MSTV have plenty of killer girl characters and friendships to offset these dodgy parts (not justifying it just saying it's not all bad...obviously, this whole group is us gushing over the books)

message 31: by Daisy, The Brains (new) - rated it 5 stars

Daisy | 1399 comments Just a random thing... you know how in this book they drink kumquat juice to suppress phasing into a werewolf? Well, kumquat is actually a real thing - it's a fruit that looks like a tiny orange. Have any of you guys ever tried one? If so, what do they taste like? It's interesting because I've done a little research and there doesn't seem to be anything that links them to... ya know, helping werewolves. So I wonder where Sienna Mercer got the idea.
