This series of four horse novels is geared for girls (or boys as there will be a main character who is a boy) ages 8-12, but personally I think it's more suited for ages 9-13, as I believe most 8 yr olds would struggle reading some of the bigger words and concepts, unless they're an advanced reader. The first book is turning in and I'll start on book 2 right after I finish my novella for my Love Blossoms in Oregon series.
My great nieces would love these books. They each have a kindle fire HDX now too so maybe I will gift them one.
I am looking forward to the release of this series too! I still enjoy reading children's books and middle-grade books occasionally, particularly when I am familiar with the author and know that they'll be good!
I'm very excited about this series. I had about a dozen kids in that age range do an advance read and got very positive comments. Also, I have a 10 month old granddaughter named Kate...sooooo....one guess what the heroines name is in the series? You got it!
Thank you, Sarah. I feel the same way. I wove some strong life lessons into the first book and journal-type questions/thoughts at the end, as well as project for the kids to try at home.
That sounds great! I love how there are discussion questions and your author's note at the end of Blowing on Dandelions and Wishing on Buttercups. That really further engages the reader and makes them think and connect with the story on a deeper level.

I agree Sarah. I got so much out of the Author's notes in these books. And to think I used to NEVER read them. Now I read EVERY note at the end and acknowledgements too!

I love reading books for middle school and teenagers both. I enjoy being able to encourage young people to read positive and uplifting novels.
I agree, Debora. I'm new at writing for middle-grade readers, but I loved this first story and am anxious to start writing book 2. It has strong morals and values in it, as well as lots of horse stuff!
I encourage reading as much as I can too, Debora. I am reading a children's book right now for review. It's pretty good too! I read all age levels so I can honestly recommend them to people of all ages.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who reads children's books! I love to see what children and young adult authors are writing these days so that I can recommend them to my friends who have kids!

Me too, Sarah. I purchase a book now and then for my great nieces or the 2 sons of a friend My friend's sons aren't wild about reading so I try to encourage them.

Ladies, I love your excitement over kids' books! I'm very pumped about this new series coming next year, as it's full of fun and strong values. Can't wait!
My daughter loves ANYTHING horse related. Though she just turned five she is def. a horse lover. We have so many horse books and have read a kids version of Misty that she just loves! I have a collection of horse books by that same author ready for when she gets a little older. I will add this book collection as well, so glad you are writing them!
I absolutely loved the Misty books and all of Marguerite Henry's work! I enjoy rereading them occasionally just for fun. :-)
Thanks so much, Jen! It will be a four book series, with the first one releasing March 1 next year, then one book every four months after. I know lots of little girls love horses, and I'm hoping these books will be a hit.
