Bam cooks the books (bamcooks) I've been intrigued to read this trilogy ever since my daughter requested it for a Christmas gift.

I'm about to start this one for the nonhuman week. It may be a bit of a stretch but I couldn't really find any other books that appealed to me for that week.

The reviews seem pretty polarizing so I'm pretty curious to check it out.

Emily I really like this trilogy (so far - I haven't read book 3 yet). I can see why some people don't like it, but I really enjoy it. I think if you like The Chronicles of Narnia, and you don't mind a bit of sex and swearing in your books - despite the comparisons to Narnia and Harry Potter, these are very much adult books - then I think you'll like them.

My biggest complaint was that I thought they could be shorter. I thought that both the first two books suffered from getting kind of slow and boring in the middle. But they definitely pick up again by the end, so don't let it discourage you. :)

Hope you enjoy!

Bam cooks the books (bamcooks) Thanks, Kate!

It's my bad review book. I'm intrigued too, I hope I won't be in the hate party and rather in the like one.

Bam cooks the books (bamcooks) Yes, it could be a long 3 weeks!

Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments I have this for week 41. I can't wait to read what you all think of it.

I ended up enjoying it, for the most part. The first half was a little iffy for more, largely due to the pace of the story. The author attempts to get a lot of time into half the book so I felt it was little bit much of a "summary" at times. The story then changes course somewhat and I enjoyed that portion much more.

I'm going to read the second book for week 41 but I'm honestly not overly excited about it.

I agree with you Laura for the 1st half. My problem with this part is that I think he develops the uninteresting stuff and summarize the interesting one. I'll see with the 2nd half, but I'm not enjoying the book for the moment (and I don't like the characters which is another problem).

Bam cooks the books (bamcooks) i am late getting started on the book but I've read the first 50 pages tonight and so far I'm enjoying it.

Bam cooks the books (bamcooks) Finished yesterday and agree that the second half of the book is much more exciting than the first. Still gave it 4 stars though.
