I haven't read it, but I heard the love triangle in the Selection is terrible
THANK YOU! THE LOVE TRIANGLES WERE BASICALLY THE SAME! The girl MC has a handsome best friend who's secretly in love with her, and then a nicer, wimpier, less manly guy comes in and he's also in love with her because of something that happened in the past and of course the MC picks the wimp.
I'm saying!!!! That's why I hate him soo much!!! Everything happened because she loved Alex, she can't just meet a new guy and then fall in love with him after!

ugh yes...*cringes* Its HORRIBLE.

"I love "him" , Jacob. He's my whole life"
Now turn to page 598 and read till 604 and come back.....I'll wait..........................................................Now as you now know, yeah she did love him, but she NEVER!!!!!EVER!!!!!!!! acted on that love. She loves EDWARD , he's her end all be all. Jacob is.....jacob, the rock, the shoulder to cry on, and he's destined for SOMEBODY ELSE!!!!!!!!!! *sigh......* does anyone understand?
I understand but still very cheesy love triangle everyone know she was going to pick the vampire.

Since you read all the books, you should KNOW!!! that it wasn't even a love triangle, a weak one at best but there was no cheating!! or unknown secret kisses and dates.

HES THE ROCK, THE BEST FRIEND!!! THE SHOULDER TO CRY ON UNTIL EDWARD CAME BACK!!
I know that but it's under the category as a love triangle to most people so that's why I'm saying it's a bad triangle because one never existed.

Delirium because Julian is detestable
Shatter Me because Warner is a despicable beast
Fallen becaus..."
Shatter Me? I disagree with that. :D lol
Twilight replaces that.

It will definitely be obvious. There are more Warner lovers than Adam. There will be more haters if Juliette chooses (view spoiler) .

the trylle trilogy had a stupid love triangle, it almost became a quartet... and that. . is just noooo gooooood. oh I did like the one she ended up with thankfully

warner despite his 'awesomeness' is a jerk and jace is so bad that i wonder why ppl like him.

When I think of 'bad' love triangles I just think of ones that are super predictable and don't really serve much purpose in the story. I hate The Selection love triangle because I don't see the point in Aspen's continued presence in the story. Why is he even there anymore? It would have been enough for America to have the idea of him in her head while she's at the castle, but having to learn to move on from that. I just think it's weak because the whole series would lose it's point if she didn't end up with Maxon.
I find it hard to like love triangles where I don't like one half of it. I didn't like the Delirium triangle because I thought Alex was horrible to Lena after the first book (how is Julian the detestable one???). I can accept the Shatter Me love triangle because it actually had a purpose in Juliette's growth as a character.
Infernal Devices to me wasn't a love triangle. Because she didn't really choose one guy after everything happens.

Shatter Me because I hate Warner
The Mortal Instruments because I hate Simon
The 5th Wave because Evan is a freak
The Hunger Games because I hate Peeta
I don't think the Mortal instruments and even the hunger games are really love triangles. Simon is always a friend for Clary. Katniss we knew was going to chose Peeta.

Not really because in a love triangle you aren't suppose to know who they will choose. I mean Gale yeah she liked him.

love triangle is when 2 characters are in love with the third characters or when character is in love with two characters. twilight is a triangle and so is hunger games and infernal devices.
Bella never loved Jacob. He was a friend so what if they kissed. They were a friends she needed someone to comfort her.

Also, in general I don't appreciate the cliche in which the MC falls in love with a new guy/girl, and right after that the MC's best friend announces his/her undying love. (ahem, TMI. One of the few parts I disliked).

It's about an emotional attachment that's strong enough to affect the "romantic orbits" of the individuals involved; an emotional attachment strong enough to provoke a "What if?", even if the odds are strongly stacked in favor of one couple (as in the aforementioned novels).
In DEAD COUPLE WALKING (my novel), the central couple is strongly influenced by their exes. I guess you'd call it a "love quadrangle." ;) But seriously, if even the possibility is there - even a small question about how things will resolve (and that exists almost any time another person is present) - then you have a triangle (or more).

Been there, done that (more than once). :)

Thx for the spoiler. I havent read the last two books in the trilogy.
Anyway, Ive read alot of terrible love triangles, but the worst one would have to be the one in the last book of Of Poisidon. Tell you why, because the author introduced the second love interest in the LAST book of a trilogy. It was one of the most pointless love triangles I have ever read because we already knew the MC wasnt gonna choose this new guy.
Books mentioned in this topic
Half-Blood (other topics)Twilight (other topics)
Delirium because Julian is detestable
Shatter Me because Warner is a despicable beast
Fallen because it was so bad that I cant even remember the names of the love interests
Shadow and Bone because I hate the Darkling
The 5th wave because the creep who shot Cassie and then professed his love to her is a creep
TMI because Simon never had a chance and him and Jace both suck.
I'll add more later once I think of some
