There is a reason that the world is so sheltered within the city of Euphoria. There is a reason that the walls were built and new measures had to be taken to ensure the safety of the citizens within them. Though many scoff at the preposterous idea that something may be harboring them in the civilization, there are some that believe there is a reason that life within the wall is so secure. That it was not made to keep them in, but to keep other things out. And in that assumption, they would be correct.

Within this world, the spreading of the infectious disease is through biological means. What this entails is that the disease is not just spread through the bite, though that is one of the possible means of contracting it. Rather, it is through all bodily fluids. Blood, saliva, and the like can be possible transmitters for progressing the outbreak. At first, the disease is unnoticeable, only distinguished by having knowledge of the infection before hand. From there, the spreading spirals out of control and the infection that started out as a small illness becomes what it is today. A craving for food becomes overwhelming and the thoughts that once consumed the being in question are no more. In many ways, they are not the human they were before. One can only wonder, though, if this is just a transition their entire being is going through or if it is there body only.
What if they’re still inside?

Contrasting to the typical idea of the walking dead, the first stage that an infected goes through is the most ambiguous. Without having seen the infected area, it is almost impossible to know that the being in question is infected. There are little signs that come with this stage (a fever, outbreaking in sweat; typical side effects of an everyday cold), but they show up days after the infection has already spread through the victims body. This makes the recognizing of this infection a difficult thing indeed within the first two or three days. On the fourth day, it is a much more noticeable transition. The person begins showing signs and it becomes quite clear they are not what they were just a little while ago. However, they do have human traits. They still think, they still feel, and they still, in the core elements of life, are human. They’re just changing.
