Karen congratulations!!!!You must be sooooooo excited now that your over the morning sickness ;op
We have tried to keep things going as best as we could and along the lines that we thought you originally intended. You really have not missed to much.
That's great news - not the sickness bit - how wrong was it to have an aversion to books - having your taste & smell completely screwed up is bad enough but that is the worst I've ever heard of. Great to have you back Karen & definitely No Need to apologise, as you've seen - we've been in loving arms!
Congrats on the pregnancy Karen! So sorry to hear about the morning sickness. It's great to have you back though :)
Hey Karen, Congrats!!! I'm one of those new members, and am enjoying this group SO MUCH. Thanks for starting it. I've read a lot about you on here, so I'm glad to finally get to meet you and welcome you back.
So glad you are over the morning sickness. When I was pregnant mine was so bad that I had to make my husband eat in a totally separate room from me. It was really awkward and weird and I was so glad when it was over. I hope the rest of your time is a lot easier. And again, welcome back. I look forward to talking to you more.

Yay! Welcome back, Karen! We thought (hoped!) you would come back. Glad you've made it through that bout of morning sickness! That's no fun. :( Hopefully you approve of what we've been doing while you've been gone.
Karen, congratulations on the pregnancy - that is fantastic news! I'm so glad to see you back online :D
Welcome back! I remember the morning sickness well. I actually couldn't read most any books while pregnant as I couldn't seem to concentrate more than 5 mins. Congratulations!
Welcome back, Karen! And congrats! I, too, remember the horrible morning sickness, and how I felt too awful to do much of anything. I could hardly stay awake at work, let alone long enough to read a book! Good to have you back!
Congratulations Karen! You must be so excited! I know you have a lot of catching up to do but hopefully you'll let us know how you're doing with the pregnancy. Keep us posted!
Welcome back Karen! Congrats on the pregnancy! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my second but thankfully only had a brief period of morning sickness. My reading was definitely impacted after my son was born-hoping to manage it all better this time but since I'll have two this time and not just one I doubt it! Looking forward to seeing you around again!
Thanks everybody, I'm glad to be back :)
And I'm glad some of you could identify with my issue, makes me feel like I'm not that strange after all *LOL*
& Congrats to you too, Joanie!

Welcome back Karen!!! We were all really concerned about you, so it is a relief to see you back in action :)
A pregnancy related book allergy - sounds like something out of the Thursday Next books! :) Good to see you back Karen.
Hey Karen...it's nice to finally "meet" the Karen that everyone keeps talking about...and congrats on your pregnancy!!!
Congratulations Karen - even after quite a few years I remember that pregnancy and morning sickness affected my reading. I could not focus on Shipping News which I tried to read when pregnant - never did finish it. I preferred to flip through magazines etc. makes you wonder doesn't it!
I know I am late on this but Congrats Joanie and Karen (did u have the baby yet?) !! I just has my second child on July 1st (just got back to work this week) I did not get much reading done either but not because I was "sick" I was just exhausted all the time. Especially since my first daughter is only 16 months!
I hope the expected babies were born smoothly. Someone should update this thread so the late-comers can know how things turned out.My first (and so-far only) was 14 weeks early. (She was 25 weeks 4 days when she was born.) That's before the third trimester. She was big for her age -- at a whopping 2 lbs even. Things turned out fine, though. (We've been blessed.) My wife likes to say our daughter was an Independent Woman from the beginning.
I am with you Steven! I would love to know if the babies arrived safely and find out how the moms are holding up.
Just getting back into the swing of things here on goodreads so sorry for the late update! I had my baby on 9/11/09. His name is Samuel James and he's doing great! He was 9lbs 14 oz and 21 inches longs (and a C-section thankfully!) I also have a 3 year old so life is busy but very good. I'm hoping to be around here more now that I'm back to work (I know that sounds paradoxical but I have more chances to jump on the computer here then at home!)Hoping that all is well with you too Karen-can't wait to hear more news of your little one!
Steven-I'm so glad to hear that all is going well with your daughter! My friend's baby was very early and very tiny but he's doing really well now too-it's so nice to see!
Congrats Joanie!! Sounds like he was a big, healthy boy. Glad you guys are doing well! I know you are busy, my 2 are 21 months apart and it is not easy, but rather easier now that they are 3 and 5.
Congrats Joanie. Looking forward to seeing you back on the threads, although I know how hard it can be to get reading time in when you have a baby around.
Congratulations, Joanie! Love the name, it's actually a combo of my nephew's name and my son's! And, I totally hear you on the whole more time for GR at work. I have more time for reading, when I'm at work, too!

Joanie... I had Theo on the same day! Well maybe a bit earlier since we're ahead in time (at our side of the equator) LOL... but Samuel & Theo have the same birtday ;)
Hope things are going well with him & your older one

Firstly a massive apologies to everybody for being absent AND silent. I owe you all an explanation and here it is:
I'm pregnant (22 weeks & counting now) and I was experiencing morning sickness which lasts 24-7 (urgh!). It's been over for a while now but ever since the beginning I sorta feel nauseous everytime I think of reading or even looking at a book (I even avoided libraries & book stores / GR / etc) - *that's soooo NOT me! It's the baby's fault!* I even avoided checking my emails cuz there's updates from libraries & GR & bookstores etc which are books-related. Yea, that bad. Which is why I've been silent on GR or emails! Thank you for all the queries on my wellbeing and I hope you guys can forgive me for snubbing you for a few months!
Secondly, thank you for keeping the group alive and for those of you who have been taking initiatives in picking shelves & new moderators, I'm flattered that you guys are keeping this group is alive & kicking! I'm not sure where / what the group is up to but I will catch up :) I know there's a second round of Shelf-a-thon (amazing!).
I'll try my best to keep up :)
