Claire (clairemcalpine) | 55 comments Thanks for the welcome Aubrey, I'm happy to have found your group and this excellent reference. Love the daily familiarisation with one of the works too, so many great books by women, it's a wonderful initiative to keep them alive and being read.

Jimmy (jimmylorunning) | 21 comments Great choices. I love Tove Jansson, though I've not read that particular book.

You've inspired me to change my plans as well, Claire. I was originally going to read Two Serious Ladies for August's Virago Month, but I'll be switching to The Quest for Christa T. so I can fulfill both the Virago and the translation components. It's the last translated Virago I have, so I hope I find another by the time August 2016 rolls around!

Thanks Jimmy, I've read a few of her adult short story collections now A Winter Book, The Summer Book, Art in Nature and the novel The True Deceiver, this one is a collection of vignettes described as a childhood memoir/fiction. I am looking forward to being back in Jansson's world.

Good choice Aubrey, I wasn't aware of the Christa Wolf book, it sounds like a must read, I'm always on the lookout for excellent works in translation by women, August is great for it, as theer will be an abundance of fresh reviews from those participating.
