I was actually trying to make them sort of like a spin on a fairy tale I read once (and can't seem to find). It was about this boy and girl who were best friends and came upon a woman in a crystal/ice cave (whatever it is) that gave wishes. I think the girl wished for a few things (either that, or it was just the boy), but I know the boy did. I think he had three, but I only remember two. It was like power and to marry his best friend. Anyway, years later the power gets to the boy's head and well, you can imagine he was pretty bad. Then he comes back to the girl and is all like 'marry me!' And she was like 'um no.' (I think she was engaged too). Well the boy has kind of like an ego check (if I remember) transforms into a bird that she talks to or something, and the boy basically makes his human self sound good (I think he changed his life around, etc), but anyway. The boy got the girl. But I was trying to adjust it into the tale (with a few stuff changed).

Do you have any idea what that fairy tale is called? Because I cannot find it.

It isn't that one. There were no roses and goblins if I recall. Ah well.
