Bitterblue discussion

I've been waiting a long time for some news of a sequel being in the works, with nothing coming up. Today I noticed an article about the series that called it a trilogy.

Usually, a trilogy is a 3-book series that will never become a 4-book series. But that doesn't mean much, because people who don't know what the author intends can easily use it for any series that only has 3 books.

But it got me thinking about the story thus far, and I'm not sure there is another book in there. All the bad guys are dead. The kingdoms on both sides of the mountains are all on a path that should give them all some peace for at least a generation. And the work remaining to stay on that path is all political; there's not much of a story there. To write another story in this series, Cashore will have to create a whole new antagonist, and probably some more heroes as well (supported by characters we already know, though). And it's not really the same series anymore once she does that.

But maybe I'm forgetting something. Is there a loose end that could become a whole new adventure worthy of a fourth book?

i read somewhere that it was done - and that the author wasn't planning to write anything more in the series. i feel like there could be more but it's not always up to the readers on this one.
