The BURIED Book Club discussion

Yesterday, I was at the library, looking some things up about my favourite Heimito von Doderer and – as they are neighbors – found myself browsing once again through the works of Alfred Döblin. I looked him up on Goodreads afterwards and found that except for „Berlin, Alexanderplatz“ no one reads his books.

The 2nd most popular is a short story collection with 82 ratings and then the numbers just plummet.

Quite interesting for an author whose name is still so well known today.

I, myself, tried to read „Berge, Meere und Giganten“ a few years ago, but couldn't get through with it. It is a weird and dense expressionist SciFi book. I might give it another go though in the future, although I want to take on one of his other books first. I was thinking either „Die drei Sprünge des Wang-lun“, apparently a "Chinese" book without Döblin having ever been to China, or „Wallenstein“.

I own his novels about the German Revolution (like Karl and Rosa) but haven't read them...
