The following is a listing of a few websites that will list your free or discounted eBook. If you’re using Select, coordinate with your free days, giving them at least a week in advance notice. If you’re not on Select, you’ll have to wait until your book is free. Most of these offer their services free, some for a small charge.

Have any of you guys heard of
BHW Publishing?
It's a POD who also help with putting your work onto distribution lists.
I've not used them yet but I am sending them my book when I get it back from my beta readers. I've added there link, it's another option as they do not charge for anything upfront like a lot of others do.

Many thanks for that list..great help.I would ad a couple of other sites that I have or will be using for promos. One is The Fussy Librarian, the other is BargainBooksy.

A $20.00 ad on the latter brought almost 60 downloads of my book last week, and a big--though temporary--jump in Kindle ratings for my book

I've used Countdown Deal twice--supplemented with a promo each time on other sites--and got 700 downloads with one 1,100 with the second. Problem, of course, is that the jump in rankings is just temporary. How to keep it going??

I also question how much longer to remain exclusively with Kindle in order to use CDeal every three months.

I'm trying www.ebooksoda.com. I found it mentioned in some other writers groups. It's another one where you need to submit your book and they'll decide whether or not to promote it. I submitted the first two volumes in a series and they accepted the first and not the second. There's a nominal $5fee. The promotion this Tuesday - I'll let everyone know how it goes.

No discernible improvement in sales a week later. But since my entire investment was $5 and the effort to submit my novel, I don't feel it was a waste. This site might work for others. They only include 2 books per daily promo - so your title isn't buried in a long list.

Have you had any dealings with BooksDaily? It's another service that sends a daily extract of books. It has a special feature in that it will send extracts of books to interested readers. I signed up as a reader and an author (basic membership is free, to be included in the mailings requires a fee.)

As a reader, I find the daily listing reasonably well done. As an author I've received my second solicitation email (encouraging me to sign up for their paid service) that begins by disparaging other organizations. Not behavior that I find professional.

I have tried their service and didn't see any significant traffic.

I've added one of my novels to www.bookgoodies.com. They'll consider any book under $3. It doesn't need to be free. I don't know how it will translate into sales(if at all).

As a book buyer, I wanted to mention that I really like the look of the site. It's easy to navigate and the books layouts are more expansive than the single line or thumbnail on a lot of other sites.

I did a medium-sized promo push about two months ago and used a lot of the sites on this list. I didn't get picked up by Book Bub or Pixel of Ink, which I believe are the two premium ad services. The site that gave me the biggest noticeable sales bump was Awesome Gang. I will definitely use them again. Book Soda gave me a little bump. I think it could be a good site for new authors that don't have the reviews needed for a bigger site like Book Bub or Pixel of Ink.

Hi guys.

Quick note. I would steer clear of BHW Publishing House if I was you guys - if you can even find them anymore.

Caroline J Williams replied to my query and requested that I send my FULL manuscript/novel straight away, no sample chapters.

(That should have been my first warning)

After a few weeks (time enough for her to 'read' it, I reckon), she replied, saying she LOVED it and wanted to publish it.

She sent the required forms and I signed them. Nothing too detailed, nothing too serious, nothing scary, I retain all my copyright, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I sent them back.

That's it - nothing. For two whole months, despite hundreds of my emails, I never received a single email in return.

Now the website has completely disappeared.

It's a scam - as far as I can tell. Took my manuscript and disappeared. I have no idea why.

It's been a HORRIBLE experience and it's messed me up.

Just wanted to share.

Best thing to do when promoting your book is aim for targeted marketing. Seek out websites that let readers receive emails based on genre preferences. When you use a list of free services or any paid services, see which ones let readers pick the genres they want to hear about.

I tried 3 promo services at fiverr.com. My Romance short story was free, so sales weren't a concern. I went with a site that featured only romance. I received about 81 downloads the day the ad went live and about four or five reviews, but I attribute the reviews to those who participated in my rafflecopter giveaway. I had a survey question in the giveaway and got quite a few responses, so I have some people to contact about the story later.

As for the other two gigs, I didn't see a major response from them. One site promoted only two free books a day and create a great page layout, but I didn't see a major jump in downloads; the second site also promoted romance books, but while there were some downloads, the numbers were small, like maybe 5 or 10 a day.

With that first ad, my book did reach positions #5 and #14 in two of Amazon's free-book categories.

Also, I was wondering if there's a place to add paid promotions. Book Barbarian features only sci-fic, fantasy and paranormal books, so it's a good site for targeted marketing. It's not too pricey either.

My giveaway had been running for almost 4 days with little or no response. On the day this ad went live was when I started getting some real participation and response. This gig only accepts romance books.
