Horror Podcasts
I have found some new to me podcast. small town horror- very much like the black tapes.
Tanis- like the black tapes.
Chilling Tales- reading of 2 chilling tales.
Pleasing Terrors- kinda like Lore
The Folklore podcast- exactly that and LOVE it! listen to apple pf your eye <3 <3 <3

Should've done a search."
lol I linked to it too. it'll be fine :)
I second Tanis! While I enjoyed the Black Tapes, it took a while to find its groove and some of the guest acting in the case of the weak distracted from the strength of the normally cool story. Tanis, a spin-off, doesn't have any of those failings, and tells a constantly enthralling tale.Other than that, I haven't had the chance to check out too many horror themed-casts. I've listened to several episodes of the NoSleep Podcast, which production-wise is great, it's just always a mixed bag on the story quality.

Are You Sure? With Smitherd and Shaw
A podcast helping you see both sides of the minor issues, hosted by horror novelists Luke Smitherd and Matt Shaw
One of my favourite horror podcasts is: http://www.unexplainedpodcast.com/. I consider it the spookiest and best performed. I urge you to check it out.
Well though this may sound like a plug and it I assure readers isn't. I was recently interviewed on Good morning Zompoc it is a Zombie podcast and though I shot myself in the foot during the Interview the other interviews are well worth listening to. Skip over mine! I was filled with the utmost stage fright, extreme shyness and just couldn't conduct a sentence or speak of my books without sounding like a complete and utter duffus. It was a learning curve one I'm sure I will gain better at by doing more. So with all that said here is the link to the one I personally know of.http://goodmorningzompoc.blogspot.co....
Other author's they have had on the show are:
Mark Tufo
David Wellington
Luke Duffy
Matthias Hoene
Peter Mckiernon
Jaime Johnesee
Rhiannon Frater
Ellie Douglas
These are only a few the page is filled with author interviews and they are having some famous actors appearing on the show (booked) for this year :)
I just heard about a new podcast today called let's talk about sects. and omg!!! THEY TALK ABOUT CULTS!!! I haven't listened yet but I'm really excited about it. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/l...
Lol oh Jon! Cults fascinate me. I am intrigued by how most start out with the best intentions and somewhere a long the way that gets lost and crazy takes over. I think several other people in this thread mentioned the last podcast. I can’t remember if I tried it or not.
Latasha, have you listened to Hollywood & Crime's "Young Charlie" or "Heaven's Gate"? Both are excellent series on cults and are free :)Or "Dirty John"? That one was so good but it wasn't about cults. Just an a-hole conman.
I have not heard any of the stuff you both posted. At audible’s last sell, I bought a Jim Jones book. That latest one that came out.
I'm a fan of Astonishing Legends too. I just discovered them a few months ago so I'm still going through the archives and such, but I agree that it's really well done and the topics are fascinating.

who does the Heaven's Gate one? I found 2. I found young Charlie.
nevermind, I found it. the other heaven's gate is about ufo's..
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/c...found this one while searching for Bark's. it just called Cults and that's what it's about. going to download some to try as well as astonishing legends and last podcast on the left.

no kids here so I'm good :)
Jon Kevin wrote: "Let me know if they're cool!"I will. it will take a while. I downloaded at least 1 episode from every one I linked!
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/t...Short horror stories, very much akin to modern British weird fiction in style. There is an overarching plot to the whole series that becomes more and more prominent as you go on, but you can enjoy most of their episodes as standalone stories. There is, in my opinion, a drop in quality in the second season, but the first one makes for some great spooky listening.
Ok my 2 cents: Let’s talks about sects: an overview on the cults. The lady has a really soothing voice. I’ll listen to more episodes.
Cults- a lady & a guy host. Very in depth looks. Will listen to more.
Haunted Hollywood Hotels- good.
The odd cast- probably the best reading of an occurrence at owl creek bridge I’ve ever heard. You should be listening to this one.
Cults, cryptids, and conspiracy- good. 2 ladies. I’ll listen to more of these
the strange and unusal podcast- lady host, good stories. will listen to more. somewhere in the skies- kinda like jim Harold's campifire but with ufo stories. at least that's how the 1 I listened to was.
Hollywood unsolved- good, will listen to more.
uncovering unexplained mysteries- great fun! 2 guy host. they discuss cases on the show unsolved mysteries. will listen to more.
unsolved mysteries of the world- great urban legend stuff. listened to the donkey lady episode. will listen to more.
the X podcast- guy whispered in a really low voice and was hard to hear him. I'll give this one more try.
Thanks for the breakdown. I'm going to check out a few. I can't seem to find the right "odd cast". There are about 10 of them when I search on my phone and none of them are at all horror related.
I’ve been listening to young Charlie. Wow. The production on this podcast is out of this world. This like a documentary for your ears. I’m on episode 3 or 4. I don’t think Charles Manson is human. I recommend this one too. Thanks to who recommended it. Bark? Was that you?

Thanks John, that helped me find it on my phone by matching the Cthulhu pic!
Latasha wrote: "I’ve been listening to young Charlie. Wow. The production on this podcast is out of this world. This like a documentary for your ears. I’m on episode 3 or 4. I don’t think Charles Manson is human. ..."It was me. I'm a podcast junkie. I'm glad you're enjoying it & Heaven's Gate.
My absolute favorites are the history chicks (they talk about a woman in history), h.p. Lovecraft literary podcast, lore, stuff you missed in history class, those are ones I never miss an episode of. Anything ghost, Jim Harold’s campfire...
Some of my other favorites:Inside The Exorcist
Inside Psycho
Lore
Dumb People Town (always makes me laugh)
Whoa I had no idea. I'll have to investigate that link to get the dirt and make room for a new podcast :(*Later* I'm out. Doxxing people, creating sock puppets, going after other podcasters? Ugh, I don't get why people shoot themselves in the foot this way.
I take back my recommendation and put My Favorite Murder in its place. Though that's true crime sorry Jon Kevin, I'll find more for you.
I just stumbled on this and was pleasantly surprised:https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d...
For those who enjoy that Twilight Zone-ish brand of creepiness. One issue is that he only releases one episode per month, so try not to binge trough the existing ones too quickly.

I downloaded a few episodes. thanks!
These two might be of some interest, for those partial to older horror fiction:https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
Weird and ghost stories of E.F. Benson, all professionally read.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/f...
Excellent readings of classic weird tales.
Paul wrote: "These two might be of some interest, for those partial to older horror fiction..."I like both of these. Thanks Paul!
I really like Inner Sanctum and Tales from the Crypt. Old school broadcasts from the 30s and 40s. I found both under this blanket package called "Tales of Horror." Used to listen to them all the time; redownloading and renavigating it all is a bit of a challenge but I'm enjoying what I have so far.Introduced me to a lot of great stories and some feature my favorite classics (Karloff and Lugosi, anyone?)
Not technically a podcast, but it really ought be:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIvp...
Loads of excellently read classic horror/weird fiction, including a number of readings from authors whose work is rarely available in audio (Walter de la Mare, Edogawa Rampo...).
Just thought of this: Welcome to Night Vale. It's sort of horror-comedy. A long story about the strange town of Night Vale, where cultists wander schools and weird shadows devour children.
I haven't listened in a while; they went off the rails and I lost interest. But starting from the beginning provides some great lighthearted horror amusement.
This one is proving to be pretty decenthttps://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/n...
I stumbled upon it due to them featuring a story from Reggie Oliver, author whose work I really enjoy.
Mitch wrote: "Check out "Books in the Freezer." You'll thank me later!"I love 'Books on the freezer'.
Other good podcasts I listen to..The Drabblecast
The Black Tapes - it's a serial so you need to listen to it from the start.
Lore
Knifepoint Horror - probably my favourite
Psuedopod
Nocturnal Transmissions - another favorite
Chilling Tales for Dark Nights
The NoSleep podcast
The last two have a lot of fan-based creepy pasta, so some of it's great, some not so great.
The Drabblecast! Wow, I'd forgotten about that. I miss the Drabblecast. Never did find out what happened. Anybody know why it stopped updating?
Christopher wrote: "The Drabblecast... Anybody know why it stopped updating?"It looks like Norm (the primary driver behind its existence) stepped out of podcasting completely citing "personal reasons." I haven't seen anything more explanatory.
They seem to have alienated some people when they stopped delivering new content without any sort of announcement. It left their monthly donators without an answer to where their donations were going.
Understandable. If you're paying for content, you'd have the right to ask why the content stops. I donated to the Drabblecast a few times, though not on a monthly basis. Didn't feel obligated for an explanation...just saddened that the podcast stopped. Hopefully Norm's personal reasons have resolved well.

My summer job (I'm a teacher) has allowed me the time to get into a number of podcasts recently. Does anyone listen to or recommend any horror podcasts?
