Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide absentmindedly walked into the powder room. She sat on a stool. I wish I could get out of her and just go for a jog. Adilaide just wanted to get out of the castle and get some fresh air in her lungs and dirt in her tennis shoes. While she was on the thought of her tennis shoes she looked down at her feet. She had a big poofy dress on so no one could see the pair of Asics she had on her feet.

 Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) ((sorry I went to church))

Adilaide didn't look up when somebody entered the room but did look up when she was asked a question. The girl looked a bit familiar. "I'm on the nations number one cross country team. You do seem familiar do you do track?" She asked excited to talk about something she was good at because the only things that seemed to matter here are clean hands and make up and she was crap at those. She kept lacing and unlacing her tennis shoes and right now one foot was laced and the other was halfway done. She always did that when she was nervous. She turned her attention back to the girl.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide nodded "Im Adilaide Clawson but people just call me Addy" She smiled. Maybe i can find a friend here

"I'm crap at soccer and heels" She shook her tennis shoes "these are much nicer." She loved her running shoes. They were getting worn out though. She would have to go shopping soon.

She stood up and fixed her high ponytail. "don't tell anyone but i have my track suit on under this dress i cant wait to go back to my room and get this dress off. Do you think the prince will let me out of the palace to go running?" Adilaide spoke a little fast but tried to talk quietly and slow down a bit. She had a hard time doing that. Her heavy British accent made it a little hard to understand.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide wanted to leave the palace and go run in the forest. She wondered if she could find the prince maybe he likes running. She liked this Taylor girl maybe she could become her friend. She should go get a few pictures taken but she didn't need all the bright flashes or the microphones in her face.

"So do you have any family?" Adilaide missed her parents so much. She didn't have any siblings. "I had a beautiful grandmamma in France but she died then i moved to England and then Illia"

Shima | 106 comments Lena entered the Powder room, hoping for a quiet atmosphere away from all the reporters, selected, and servants. Lena spent rather a lot of time in alone at home when she wasn't busy with shows and had become quite accustom to it.

Another Selected girl sat in room and Lena quickly checked her hair, makeup, and dress so as not to embarrass herself in front of her. She politely said hello to to the girl and sat down on a velvety looking couch.

(view spoiler)

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide sensed she may have been a bit to open with this girl. If the girl wasn't open maybe she wasn't friend material. She missed Etienne from France and Magdaline from England. Her friedns were always open with her. When another selected girl cam in the powder room Adilaide stared to think it was getting to crowded but she didn't want to see any reporters. She figured she would stay for a moment and try to get outside without being seen later. She laced back up her shoe and stood up.

"No thanks Taylor I think i'll stay here for a mo thanks" She said kindly to the Taylor. She turned to the selected girl after Taylor had left "Hello" She said kindly. She looked in the mirror and touched her ponytail. Right then her rubber band broke. well crap "Sorry do you happen to have an elastic i can borrow I can bring it back to your room tonight."

message 7: by Shima (new)

Shima | 106 comments Lena looked over at the girl and saw her crisis. Looking perfect was practically a requirement of the selection and she wanted to help.

Lena was smart and always had an extra hair tie attached to her bobby pin in her hair. She grabbed it out. "Here you go" she said to the girl. "I'm Lena what's your name?" She quickly jumped in and said trying to be friendly.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide grinned. This girl seemed open. "I'm Adilaide but you can call me Addy" She graciously took the elastic and pulled her hair back into a high ponytail.

"so which caste and what's your job?" She asked being open like the girl beside her was. She seemed nice enough so Addy tried to make some conversation.

message 9: by Shima (new)

Shima | 106 comments Lena was happy the girl had sparked up a conversation. She had never really be good at making friends and talking to girls her age, and usually isolated herself. But Adelaide seemed nice enough and she wanted to talk to her.

"I'm from the second caste. I act in Broadway shows. I've been in quite a few but I'm not as well known as a Hollywood actress" Lena replied. She regretted what she said immediately, it made her sound snobbish and spoiled. "How about you" She quickly asked Adelaide hoping to would cover up her previous mistake.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Addy shook her head "I'm pretty sure I've seen you in a few shows!" She tried to think "Ya you were in that super funny comedy i have seen it like a million times!" This girl was awesome and such a great actress. "As for me I'm on Illia's number one cross country team and im a two" Which was a bit obvious because a) she was wearing sneakers and b)all athletes were twos.

message 11: by Shima (new)

Shima | 106 comments "You're Adelaide Clawson, aren't you? My 12 year old cousin is your biggest fan! She wants to be a runner just like you. Wait until I tell her I met you, she'll freak out. I think you saw me in Bye Bye Birdie, I played Kim. I'm glad you liked it. My real name is Selena, but I prefer Lena. It's nice to meet you Addy" Lena said with a burst of energy.

Addy seemed nice and Lena was happy to know that not all the selected were dying to rip each others throats off. "So why did you want to enter in the selection?" Lena questioned Addy.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide smiled at the praise. She reached up and took off her necklace. "I joined the selection because I love taking chances and making people happy maybe I can make the prince happy"

She smiled and put the necklace in Lena's hand "I want you to send this home to your sister and tell her to write a letter to me we need to make sure she loves to run and joins cross country next year"

message 13: by Shima (new)

Shima | 106 comments "Thank you, she will be very excited. I think it's very honorable that you want to make the prince happy, most girls here just want to make themselves happy. I don't really know what I want..." Lena stopped herself. She found herself telling Adelaide so much and it was quite strange how comfortable she felt talking to her.

Lena told no one nothing. She was her own companion and she didn't depend on anyone else. But maybe part of herself wanted to confide in someone. "I guess I want a fairy tale it seems. I know that sounds silly and all, but I do believe that true love exists, and whether I find it with the prince or someone else, I do hope I will find it."

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide grinned "You never know weather or not the prince is your true love or not. It would be awful if you were and didn't get accepted." Adilaide wanted to go outside.

"Wanna come on a walk with me I would go running but I need the company right now." She really really wanted to get some ground on her feet.

message 15: by Shima (new)

Shima | 106 comments "Sure, would you like to go see the garden?" Lena asked Addy. "I've been dying to go see it, I do love flowers. How about you?"

Lena could see a friendship was beginning between the two of them and she was glad to have someone to talk to. Maybe the selection wasn't as much as a blood sport the media had made it out to seem.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Adilaide nodded "The garden is beautiful c'mon." She looked down at the girls feet. She was wearing heels. Oh bless this poor woman. "Here trade me shoes you will die in those. She took off her asics and socks and handed them to Lena "don't worry I don't have athletes foot." She wanted to be friendly. She was just gong to hold the heels and walk barefoot. She did barefoot running for two years so this was no problem.

message 17: by Shima (new)

Shima | 106 comments "Thanks." Lena said as she took the runners from Addy. She tried the shoes on and they were little big but fitted okay. Lena tied their laces the bunny ear way quickly and began to walk to the garden alongside Adelaide.

Lena walked in silence just enjoying the beautiful evening. She wondered what the garden would look like. Addy's runner's were much more comfortable then her silver heels had been and for the first time since she had left her home she felt relaxed.

(see you in the garden thread summer :) )

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Brooklyn just got back from taking pictures with the press. Her head was spinning from all the flash cameras. She sighed and sat down on a stool with her favorite book. She just wanted to get away from the crowd for a bit. She opened her book to the right page and got comfortable. As she read her mind drifted elsewhere. She worried about her Aunt who had some health problems. She hoped her uncle wasn't overworking himself to pay for her medicine. She told him that the selected girls get money but her uncle was a very stubborn man.

Caroline peered into the mirror in front of her, pausing to smooth gloss over her lips. She loved being in the powder room. Besides being the perfect place to re-check her appearance (she felt so pressured to look her best, what with the cameras following her every move), it was ideal to have some alone time away from all the stress of the Selection. She was usually completely calm and collected in such situations, but having so many other girls to compete with was having an affect on her. She just hoped for a chance to find love and become a better person from the experience, but Caroline was not naïve. She wasn't blind to the fact that many of the contestants were solely in it for the crown. Interrupting her train of thoughts, Caroline glanced up as she saw another girl sit down across from her, stressed-looking. She flipped open a book and began to quietly read.

"Hello," she said politely, not expecting the girl to answer with anything other than a distracted greeting. Caroline knew how engrossing a good book could be.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) ((SO SORRY I was asked to give a talk in church and I was super busy writing it))
(view spoiler)

Brooklyn looked up a bit startled somebody else was is here but then realized with a ton of girls all wandering around one palace it was a surprise they weren't all in the powder room at once. Sometimes girls could be really picky about their make up. Brooklyn was okay at makeup but only ever put on the natural stuff. She didn't know why girls wanted to look different than their natural beauty. That is why when she first arrived in the palace and the maid who was giving her a makeover said she would look great blonde Brooklyn gave a quick no because she loved her auburn colored hair. When Brooklyn snapped back to reality she gave a warm smile to the girl and then stood up.

"Hello" She replied while closing her book. She quickly shoved the book back in her purse. Brooklyn hated purses she missed her Jansport backpack.

((That's ok. I was away for a couple days but now I am back and free to rp. :) ))

Caroline turned to face the girl as she stood up.

"You're Brooklyn Weatherton, am I correct?" She had seen the girl around the palace before, but with so many Selected it was proving difficult to keep track of names.

"I'm Caroline," she said brightly. She folded one leg over the other, hoping to rest her aching feet. She was used to wearing heels, what with all the dinner parties and formal functions her family had to attend, but wearing them all day, every day? Now that was a challenge! Although, Caroline had found that she was finding is relatively easy to slip into the routine of palace life. Her strict upbringing had luckily prepared her for the flowing gowns, heavy makeup, and necessary niceties of the Selection. At least there was one positive aspect of her childhood. Caroline had been spoilt rotten to make up for her parents being away from home so often, but she had moved out of the house as soon as possible. She wished that they had been there for her when she had needed them. Even now, the only contact they had had with her in the last few months was to message her that they hoped she won the Selection! Was that really all they cared about?

((@summer, are you there?))

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) ((sorry i feel awful i haven't been on lately because i move this sunday so i have been super busy))

"Yes I know you" Brooklyn said and immediately regretted saying that. Why did she have to be a sociopath?

"Sorry I mean I've seen your pictures here and there It's nice to meet you in person Caroline" She had memorized every selected girl in the palace and all of Caroline's information was somewhere in her brain.

"I'm being awfully rude aren't I? Brooklyn hated talking. She always messed up her words.

She needed to learn how to make friends. She was so awful at talking to people. Her aunt always told her that if Brooklyn could just get her nose out of her book for once and smell the roses then maybe she would have more friends. Brooklyn never really saw the importance of having friends. If she spent her time focusing on the more important things in life like an education wouldn't it be better? Wouldn't she be better?

((That's ok, I should learn some patience. :) ))

Caroline laughed lightly as Brooklyn chattered away. It was refreshing to finally meet someone who wasn't so haughty. Perhaps they would get along?

"Not terribly," she smiled cordially.

"I don't mind. At least you're talking to me at all!" Caroline remarked. A few of the other girls she had met had simply given her the cold shoulder, while some others had been overly friendly towards her. Did the others seriously consider her as a threat? She remembered an old saying her mother had told her: keep your friends close and your enemies closer. While she was definitely not eyeing up her competition, it would be wise to make a few friendships during her time at the palace.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is it you were reading?" Caroline gestured to Brooklyn's purse.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) ((no no no its me))

Brooklyn grinned. She loved this question. "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea it's one of my favorites." Brooklyn must have read this book a billion times. She loved the settings and the plot. She loved the characters and the author. Oh the author. Jules Verne was a genius.

"I love classic books. They are all I ever read." She said with a grin.

Books were her escape from the world. Escape from the people, from depression, worldly disasters an most of all the rebels. The rebels killed her father. She hated them and swore if she ever met them she would risk her life just to kill one of their men.

message 32: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 26, 2015 06:17PM) (new)

"Ooh, I love that book!" Caroline exclaimed. She honestly proffered non-fiction texts, but often a good fiction book was a perfect rainy-day read. She remembered sitting in the conservatory at home while it poured down outside, reading a novel. At least, until her father found her and demanded she go to her bedroom and study. She loved school, and learning, but often she felt under extreme pressure from her family to get perfect grades. Soon enough, though, she would be leaving home and searching for her own job. Unless she won the Selection... Caroline sighed inwardly. That was near impossible. She might not even make the Elite. And if she did, she would probably make a better queen than a wife to the prince- being so isolated from her parents while growing up had made maintaining any form of relationship difficult. She had often been told by her friends back home that she was far too needy, and got jealous far too often. Caroline attempted to turn her attention back to Brooklyn.

"Have you read Pride and Prejudice? Now that is my all-time favourite!" She said perhaps too brightly, trying to conceal her slight sadness.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Brooklyn laughed "Pride and Prejudice was so great!" Brooklyn read that one at the rip old age of 6. At home her life was always full of books. She remembered opening a huge box on her birthday just to have books rain down on her. Brooklyn had loved getting books weather they were new or old, from the store or her fathers collage. There was no difference.

“There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.” Brooklyn gave her favorite quote from the book. She loved quoting books because it reminded her of father. He could quote any book and she used to play games where he would give a quote and she would tell which book it was from.

Was this the only selected girl who maybe just cared more about education than makeup? Brooklyn enjoyed Caroline's company. She was going to need a friend if she was ever going to get through this selection. She set her bookmark back into her book giving the impression she was listening.

message 34: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 25, 2015 06:23PM) (new)

Caroline smiled at Brooklyn's quoting of the book. It was refreshing to find another intellectual who wasn't just fussing over her hair.

"Should I be scared?" she joked, raising an eyebrow. There really was nothing like pointless small talk to pass the time, and there was hardly anything else to do. She wondered what the prince did to pass the time. Palace life was glamorous, but also horribly boring. It seemed as if there was nothing to do but apply makeup and talk to the maids. The latter, though, was actually a pleasant experience and definitely helped to pass the time. Caroline welcomed their happy chatter. They were extremely helpful, as well as friendly, and she was disheartened by the snide comments some of the other selected had made about the maids. Why did being a Six have to mean you were incompetent and lowly? It wasn't their choice to be born into a low caste. They were just as capable as any of the others, if not more. They deserved respect for being able to handle such a demanding job with such skill- the Selected would all be lost without them.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) Brooklyn straightened her back. It wasn't good to slouch. Whenever she got comfortable she would slouch. Her aunt always told her never to slouch.

"So where do you work back home?" Brooklyn asked politely trying to open a new subject. She hoped she wasn't being intruding or rude. She loved her job back home. Working with college students was amazing. She wished someone would call her about the application she sent in to become a real teacher.

Remembering she just asked a question Brooklyn looked up at the girl waiting for an answer. She kept her smile firm.

((>,< SOrry for crappy short post i have to go.))

((That's ok, I'm a little busy at the moment too.))

"Well, technically I'm still at school, but I'm studying to become an event manager," Caroline started.

"I love the idea of organising functions. What's your occupation?" she asked Brooklyn. To her, the other girl seemed like she would be working in a job centred around academics, perhaps. Caroline's parents had wanted her to pursue a career in law, but to her, the task seemed awfully dull. She wanted to work with people, be able to be creative and own her own business; not sit cooped up in an office all day and lie to win losing court cases. That just wasn't Caroline's type of thing. She knew how untrustworthy lawyers could be, knowing her father, and there was no way she would want to leave a future family several times a month to travel over the globe for work.

Ѕυϻϻεг {"sнσш ϻε λ нεгσ, λπd I'll шгιτε ψσυ λ τгλɢεdψ"} (leovaldez5819) "Im a TA at the local college my dad used to work at" Broklyn said.

Brooklyn considered the girls comment. Being a event manager would be fun but Brooklyn would hate the work. She didn't think she would be very good at it.

"So is being a lawyer any fun?" Brooklyn voiced the thought that had been eating at her brain aloud. She couldn't stand a boring job.
