Shima | 322 comments Blythe opened the swinging door to the cabin. The sleeping area was a medium sized space with two bunk beds and one single bed. A sign told her that she had the single bed. Beside Blythe's bed was a shelf and cubby for her belongings. Blythe hadn't packed to much because her parents had been in a hurry to get her somewhere safe, away from the war.

Blythe noticed another girl about her age, maybe a little older sitting on one the top bunk of one of the beds."Hi, I'm Blythe." She said trying to be friendly.

Alex had finally arrived in her room after some confusion. She had gotten lost several times, finally able to get directions to her cabin. Alex claimed a top bunk in the corner of the bedroom and had unpacked her belongings. Alex was currently sitting on top of her bed, now fully unpacked. She nodded in the direction of the girl as if to say hello, curious if the girl would attempt to continue the conversation. Alex had one earbud in, listening to one of her favorite bands, Fall Out Boy. She was listening to everything in the room though. She was very observant, even without trying. It came naturally to her.

Shima | 322 comments Blythe noticed the girl didn't want to talk much so she continued unpacking. She thought about what was happening back in the jungle. Her parents were there fighting a war and she was here, doing nothing. They could be dead for all she knew. NO! Don't think that, she told herself. Her grandfather would have written if something had happened. She tried taking her mind away from the war. Think about something else, she told herself.

"What are you listening to?" Blythe asked the girl. Her answer would probably be something like Taylor Swift, or one direction. She looked like the type of girl who got caught up in what ever was popular. Blythe preferred rock music, not the junk they played on the radio these days.

Alex observed the girl while she was unpacking and obviously worrying. She could see the worry etched onto the girl's face. Alex had a gift for reading facial features and emotions. She decided not to mention it though, not wanting to upset the young girl. "Well if you must know, I'm listening to The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy," she said simply, shrugging. "I don't like the crap they play on the radio," she added. Alex smiled as she replied to a text. Yes, her relatives have cell phones. They are gods and goddesses after all! They keep up with the times, despite popular belief. She was texting her Aunt Aphrodite. She was pestering Alex, trying to figure out if Alex thought any guy there was attractive.

message 7: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I love that song, though I think my favorite Fall Out Boy song is Centuries." Blythe told the girl. She sat down on her bed and pulled out her sketch book. She had it for many years and it was falling apart now. Blythe decided to draw her pet Ringo, yes he was named after Ringo Starr from The Beatles, and yes she was a fan as was obvious from her tee shirt.

Blythe decided to not to say anything else to the girl. She could make the next move if she wanted to, and if she didn't want to that was fine. People will do what the want to no matter what how hard you try. Her parents had learned that along time ago when they found out Blythe preferred art and rock music to science and society parties. So she just sat on her bed silently sketching.

Alex rolled her eyes. "Basic," she muttered under her breath. She watched as the girl pulled out a sketch book and sat. "What's your name," she said a bit rough, not really asking. She worded it a bit harsh, but it was her meager attempt to converse. She snorted as her phone rang, another text from her aunt. It said, "Honey, I need to know these things. How else will I make sure he likes you? Just leave it to me!" Alex rolled her eyes. "Relatives," she said out loud, a hint of annoyance in her voice, although she was smiling. "Gotta love them," she said sarcastically, although she didn't mean it in a mean or rude way. "How old are you?" She asked, staring at the girl with curiosity.

message 9: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I'm 15, and my name is Blythe like I said earlier." Blythe said in a annoyed tone. This girl obviously thought she was supior just because she was a princess or her parents were heroes or something. Blythe had grown up around girls like her, and she had grown immune to there snobbish ways.

"How about you tell me something about yourself for a change." Blythe told her. She was sure the girl couldn't resist bragging about her famous parents.

Blythe had begun to irritate Alex already. "Well sorry that I don't pay attention to every little word that comes out of your mouth," Alex snapped, a bit upset. She hadn't had the best day and Blythe's arrival didn't help improve it. Alex could tell that Blythe was judging her and just shook her head. "Oh no. Don't you dare," she said, upset. "Do you know me? No. Don't make assumptions," Alex snapped again.

Alex laughed coldly at Blythe's attempt to get to know her. "Why would I? Not much to tell. My dad decided it was time to get rid of me and sent me here. End of story," she said a bit rushed, not wanting to get into specifics and details.

message 11: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I'm sorry." Blythe said, feeling bad about the way she talked to her earlier. "I guess I just have a lot to worry about right now, which doesn't really put a person in the best of moods." Blythe went back to sketching Ringo after she said it. Who needed friends anyway, it's not like the girl had to like her.

She missed all her pets, she missed her family, and she missed her home. Blythe wanted to cry but she wouldn't give the girl the satisfaction of tears. She wasn't some weak little 12 year old, and she wouldn't act like one.

Blythe pulled out her phone and checked her Facebook. That was the one thing she hated about usually staying in the jungle for the summer, no electronic devices. Blythe wasn't one of those girls who was obsessed with their phones and social media, but she did like to keep in the loop of things. As she scrolled through her old posts she stumbled apon a video she had made of her mother awhile ago. She had been laughing so hard that it made the whole family laugh, and no one had known why they were laughing. Blythe soon realized that she had her sound all the way up and she quickly turned it down.

"It's fine," Alex said softly, regretting her harshness. "I'm sorry too," she said quietly, barely audible. Alex always had a hard time apologizing, so you could tell she was actually trying. Alex laughed, a smile forming on her face. "Don't I know it. Feels like that's all I'm doing lately- being in a bad mood. It's hard to stop sadness and anger. But I'll work on it. You just need a some distractions to forget your worries," Alex suggested, earphones out of her ears. She jumped over her railing to her bed, landing quietly on the floor. She looked back and noticed the crushed metal where her hand was on the bunk. Alex sighed, a bit disappointed that she had ruined something already.

"Want to switch beds?" She asked Blythe. "I know you've unpacked already, and I'll help move your stuff later if you want.." Alex offered. "I just don't think the camp will enjoy their bed being broken even more," she said with a laugh. "I can probably fix it as best I can," she added. Alex really was a fun person to be around when she wasn't in a foul mood. She sat down at the foot of Blythe's bed. "Want to go do something?" She asked, knowing Blythe would enjoy a distraction.

message 13: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Okay, what do you want to do? By the way, what your name?" Blythe asked. "I'll switch beds later if you want." Blythe was relived that the girl was finally starting to warm up to her. She didn't know if she would have been able to deal with her parents being in the middle of a war and a bunk mate who hated her. Maybe camp wouldn't be so bad after all.

"I have no clue," Alex laughed. "Im pretty new here too. And thanks," she added. "Oh, did I forget to introduce myself? Oh well, I'm Alex, daughter of- never mind that's not important," she said quickly. Alex had been taught to say who her parents were from an early age. It was a hard habit to break. Alex fake curtsied with a laugh. She actually had a very graceful and beautiful curtsy though. "I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to go to combat with me though- I'm brutal and rarely back down or go easy," Alex honestly admitted.

message 15: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I'll remember not to challenge you." Blythe said with a little laugh. "I haven't really been trained in much physical combat. Though I have been taking fencing since I was ten, so don't challenge me to a sword fight." Blythe told Alex as she smiled. "Do you want to go check out the ropes course, it looked pretty cool in the pamphlet?" Blythe asked Alex.

message 16: by Kaitlyn, Director Ali (new)

Kaitlyn | 656 comments Mod
Alex laughed. "Oh I could take you. My relatives have trained me in several different things.. My Uncle Ar- my uncle and aunt taught me combat. They're the best at it though, so don't expect me to lose," Alex said with a smirk. "Sure, we could check out the ropes course. Or we can stay here and talk," Alex suggested, giving her the chance to decide what they do.

message 17: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Why don't we just stay here and talk. So do you have a boyfriend?" Blythe asked. She didn't want to sound to girly and boy obsessed but there was no harm in asking. Blythe didn't really know how to talk to other girls. Back home she mostly spent her time with her parents and animals, and was tutored by her grandfather instead of going to school. Camp was really her first time hanging out with other teens, so she was going to be a bit socially awkward.

"Okay sure," Alex said casually as they sat on Blythe's bed. Alex literally snorted when Blythe asked her about a relationship. "Oh thank the gods that I'm not! My aunt would be sooo happy that she might do something rash. And I wish no one to be forced into a relationship. And don't even get me started about my grandmother!" Alex said, rolling her eyes. She had a smile on her face though, so anyone could tell that Alex loved her aunts and uncles and grandparents, despite their obsessions.

"My aunt is in love with love. She is married, yet she's having an affair with my other uncle! My uncle, the one she's married to, is fully aware of this though. He tends to try and catch his wife cheating on him.. It's a bit messed up," Alex laughed. "But that's my family. Screwed up and crazy in their own way!" She exclaimed.

message 19: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "That's definitely screwed up. I don't really have any family other then my parents and my grandfather. My dad was and orphan and my mum an only child. Sometimes I wish I had a crazy uncle or a overly loving grandma." Blythe said. "I definitely don't have a boyfriend, otherwise my dad would kill me!" Blythe laughed as she said it imagining her father's reaction if she told him she was dating someone.

"Oh I don't know what I'd do without my relatives. I can barely stand being in my own house. My parents just don't understand me. I only sleep at my house, then my uncle picks me up in his char- in his car at sunrise. Then I go to my relative's home," Alex said, making several mistakes in an attempt to keep her identity a secret. Alex tried to rack through her brain in an attempt to figure out who Blythe's parents were, but with no success. "My dad would be very overprotective too," Alex said with a laugh. "He'd probably say something like, 'I went to hell and back for my wife, I'm prepared to do the same if you lay a hand on her or hurt her in any way,'" Alex said, deepening her voice to sound like her father. She laughed, not being able to keep a straight face any longer.

message 21: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments Blythe laughed as Alex impersonated her father. It had been the first time since the war broke out that she had been able to truly take her mind off it.

"So I know we're both wondering who each other's parents are, so why don't I give you a hint and you give me one?" Blythe said to Alex. "Here is my hint: My father was raised in the jungle." Blythe told Alex.

Alex laughed. "Oh of course! Tarzan and Jane. I'm assuming he's more.. civilized now?" she asked with a giggle. "I can show you if you want.. We'd just have to come over here," Alex said, sliding off the bed and sitting on the floor. She grinned at Blythe, knowing she had no idea what was going on.

message 23: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "You got it! He is more civilized now though. We usually go stay in the jungle he was raised at in the summer, but plans changed this year." Blythe expression became a little worried as she said it, but it quickly passed. She didn't want anyone knowing about the war.

Blythe slid onto the floor as Alex told her to, curious of what she wanted to show her.

message 24: by Kaitlyn, Director Ali (new)

Kaitlyn | 656 comments Mod
"That's good. I'm glad you weren't raised there though. I knew Jane wouldn't raise a child there for the majority of their life- your life." Alex let Blythe's worry slide, not wanting to press anything.

"Now this may sound a bit odd, but lay down on the ground. And what ever you do, no screaming or quick moving. You need to stay balanced or you could get hurt," Alex said seriously. "Can you do that?" she asked, genuinely wanting Blythe to be okay while she showed her powers- well, the one she inherited from her father.

message 25: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Okay, I guess." Blythe said wondering what in the world was going to happen.

Contrary to probably every other camper there, Blythe knew nothing about magic or fantastical worlds. She had been raised in London. Sure her father was from the jungle, but neither of parents were off fighting dragons or running into curses. Blythe had no clue of what was to come.

Alex stood up and gently scooped Blythe in her arms, then thrust her in the air, catching her easily with her hands extended straight above her head. Blythe was now able to touch the ceiling if she wanted. Alex dropped Blythe onto her bed, not wanting her to accidentally fall. Alex could totally do something more, but didn't want Blythe to be uncomfortable.

"So.." Alex began. "Any ideas?" She smirked, curious if Blythe would figure it out.

message 27: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Well, I'm going to guess Hercules is your father." Blythe said pretty much knowing she had got it. She wasn't always the most statistic person in her family but when it came to guessing things she was quite often right. Blythe loved murder mystery shows, and almost every time she could guess who the killer was.

"So how did it get so messed up with your dad?" Blythe asked Alex hoping she wasn't being to nosy.

message 28: by Kaitlyn, Director Ali (new)

Kaitlyn | 656 comments Mod
"Correct," Alex said, impressed by Blythe's guess. Others might not have guessed correctly. "But don't tell.. I'm trying to keep it a secret. I don't want all the expectation and favoritism that comes with being a child of a hero," she said seriously. "Plus, I've notice villain children will actually talk to you if you don't tell them who your parents are," she added.

Alex sighed. "Well from when I was born I've practically grown up with my extended family. As soon as I could walk, my relatives took me with them to Olympus. My grandparents absolutely adored me, wanting to make up for not being there for my dad. Well I spent more and more time there, and my relationship with my parents became non-existent. They never really understood me because I spent so much time away from home, so when I finally became too much of a problem, they shipped me off. I'll admit I was a bit of a brat, but I was nothing compared to other kids. I just.. snapped. I yelled at my mother and she told me to pack. Then I came here and the rest is history," Alex explained quietly, not wanting anyone to hear besides Blythe.

message 29: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Oh." Blythe said simply not knowing what to think. "My parents don't understand me sometimes but they would never force me to do something I don't won't do. I guess I'm just lucky." Blythe said.

Since Blythe was eleven she had been going to society functions. Practically every kid and teen there had been oppressed by there parents and in some way rebeled. Last year Blythe had went to a auction for some charity with her parents where she met a boy who had perposley wrecked everyone of his dad's new cars, and was being sent to boarding school the next month. Blythe really couldn't relate with any of them so didn't really know what to say.

"I promise I won't tell anyone about who your parents are." Blythe told Alex.

Alex smiled. "Well I was the problem child. Whenever I was home we'd fight. It would always be about to stupidest things ever, but I'd start it. My extended family was having a visitor come, so they didn't allow me to return to Olympus. One whole week stuck at home. Well by the end of the week my parents had shipped me here," she said, shrugging. "But I'm over it now," she told her.

"Thanks. I just hate all the drama that comes with knowing who each others parents are. Seriously! Why the hell can't I be friends with a villain's child?!" Alex ranted. "It's not their fault that they grew up with their parents. Everyone has their own circumstances and trials. But why do we have to be discriminated because of them? Some things you can't change, like parents. So why would we be so freaking rude to villains kids? I've seen some people do that before. Being a kid of a villain doesn't make you a villain, like being the kid of a hero doesn't make you a good person." Alex had finished ranting. "Sorry for that, I just think the way things are is a pretty crappy way to live. Someone needs to change it, and you can be damn right that I'll make that change." Alex laughed. "I rant quite a bit," she said with a smile. "Sorry about that."

message 31: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "That's okay I completely agree. I always say I'm not villain or a hero, I'm just an average girl. Why do we always have to pinpoint are selves into certain categories, why can't we just be human? I was lucky growing up my parents never forced me to be all heroic or villainous, I was aloud to just be a kid. I guess my mom was a little disappointed that I didn't like science but she was happy I liked to sketch. But most other hero's kids were forced to train to save the day." Blythe was happy Alex wasn't one of those kids who depended on everything their parents stood for.

"Let's make a pact that we can't judge anyone here by who their parents are." Blythe said as she held out her hand for Alex to shake.

"Amen!" Alex exclaimed. "Well I wasn't forced to train. My relatives just taught me what their domain was. My grandmother Hera taught me how to care for children, my Uncle Apollo taught me how to help injured people, my Aunt Artemis taught me how to hunt and shoot a bow," Alex smiled. "My Uncle Heph would always fix my sword and make sure it was leveled, Demeter taught me how to climb trees, Aunt Athena taught me battle strategy and Uncle Ares taught me how to fight and use the strategy. It was fun, growing up around them. They had so much knowledge to give- it was a blast."

Alex sighed at the memories and heard her phone buzz. She checked it and rolled her eyes. "Ugh my aunt is pestering me about finding a boyfriend." Alex laughed. She took Blythe's hand and shook. "Either from hero or villain descent, we have no right, no authority to judge a human without understanding their entire life, hardships, fears, strengths, and happiness. We will not, shall not, and can not support discrimination," Alex said passionately.

message 33: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "Alright!" Blythe exclaimed. "You should send your aunt a picture of a random guy from the Internet and tell her he's the guy you like." Blythe said as she laughed. " I wonder if there are any cute boys here? Hero or villain would be fine with me!" Blythe giggled a little. "Don't judge my crazy guy talk because I usually have to spend my summer in a jungle surrounded by a bunch of monkeys, literally!" She added.

((Sorry for the short post))

Alex just stared at Blythe. "Send my Aunt Aphrodite, the goddess of love, a picture of a boy?" Alex said seriously. "Do you have any idea what she'd do? Well let me tell you. First off, she'll search the world for the boy. And it's easier for her now that there's google. She'd find him and make his strongest desire to find me. Then she would show him the way, and I'd be stuck with a lovesick puppy. No thanks!" Alex knew Blythe probably didn't know the extent her relatives would go to make Alex happy. And that was how Aphrodite showed her love- through match making a presents.

Alex laughed. "Well I'm not interested in boys. Maybe as a friend, but I don't want a relationship. And I'm not judging," Alex told Blythe, "I just don't see the appeal of guys. They're smelly and immature."

message 35: by Shima (new)

Shima | 322 comments "I get it, they can definitely be that way." Blythe said. "So what's your favorite bands?" Blythe asked Alex trying to change the subject. "For me I think my top three would have to be The Beatles, Queen, and The Rolling Stones. I guess I'm into classic rock or whatever. It's so hilarious when my parents try to relate to me being into rock. One time my parents tried singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody with me and completely failed. I also love all the songs from the musical Spring Awakening. I know musical sounds lame, but it's all like rock music and other stuff blended, and the lyrics are incredible." Blythe rambled on.

"Uh my favorites are probably Fall Out Boy, Evanescence, Queen, Maroon 5, Matchbox Twenty, Avril Lavigne, and David Guetta," she named. "Mama, life had just begun. But now I've gone and thrown it all away," Alex sung after Blythe did. Alex could here the worry and concern lined in Blythe's voice. She was quiet as Blythe talked on the phone with her grandfather. Blythe finally hung up the phone. "Are you okay?" she said quietly.

Another girl entered the room and Alex groaned and glared at the girl. "Perfect timing," she muttered sarcastically. She rolled her eyes. "Oh my gods, you are?" she mocked, imitating the girl's voice. Alex was a bit annoyed. "Are you in this cabin?" she asked, hoping the girl wasn't.
