I'll continue with the theme of trying to get cheaper, more established books for folks, and nominate:Nine Princes In Amber by Roger Zelazny.
Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson. It'd be a shame if this group never progressed beyond GotM, especially because starting at DH the series really takes off and straightens out some of the wrinkles present in GotM.
Since we are nominating classics, I'm gong to nominate The Broken Sword by Poul Anderson.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...
I would have seconded 9 Princes in Amber, but Mark beat me too it. That's a great classic too. And so is The Black Company. But I liked the Broken Sword best of the 3 and it was published the same year as The Two Towers. So it's impossible for it to be derivative of Tolkien.
I also like the choice for Nine Princes in Amber. Since that was already seconded, I'll nominate Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia.Politics aside, I've heard it's a really interesting read and I've had it sitting in my TBR pile.
I nominate one of my favorites ever, To Ride Hell’s Chasm, epic fantasy, standalone, two male leads facing a mysterious disappearance, a varied cast of characters where everyone counts, culture clashes and great worldbuilding. Would love to reread it!
Nine Princes in Amber by Roger ZelaznyThe Magicians by Lev Grossman
Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia
Thus far the seconds.
How about Temeraire by Naomi Norvik? Not sure it's been discussed here beforeAm I allowed to second as well? If so then I'll second Under Heaven

I strongly second Deadhouse gates! I really liked the first one and I think it's about time we read the next part of the story!

You missed To Ride Hell's Chasm that was seconded by Mark before your post.

Oh damn, I completely missed that second as well!
In which case, I'd like to change to seconding Under Heaven, since Dan's possibly doesn't count due to him nominating too, but I'd love to see it on the polls.
Not counting rescinded/changed votes, here's what we're gonna roll with:The Magicians by Lev Grossman
Nine Princes In Amber by Roger Zelazny
To Ride Hell's Chasm by Janny Wurts
Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia
Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erickson.
The Black Prism by Brent Weeks
Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay
Closing thread and going to poll. I normally limit to 5 but I was slow to respond and those are two fantastic books at the end that were seconded.

As always, rules are as follows:
1) Each person is allowed ONE vote, either a nomination OR a "second"
2) Once a book is "seconded", it is added to the poll list
3) Once five books are on the poll list, this thread closes and voting begins
4) No self promotion allowed - if outside vote stacking or promotion is discovered, a book will be DQ'd automatically.
Thanks everyone!
