The cool, watery lake is a great pasttime when you're bored. Just hop on over to the Gear Shop for some equipment/swimwear, and off you go!

Remember, though - this is the Mermaids' domain, so watch out! ;)

Mei sat on a rock on the edge of the water reading a book about dark magic and witchcraft. She was in her usual slumped posture and wore her 'uniform'. Her doe eyes were trained on the pages of the book and her bangs fell on either side of her face.

Thana walked along the bank of the lake, they didn't really have any lakes in the underworld and she was enjoying the cool water against her ankles. She saw a girl over near a rock. Usually people didn't like her very much so she stayed away.

Mei stiffened slightly as a sort of deathly aura was coming from down the bank. She looked to see if it was another dead person asking for a contract, but only saw a girl. She peered at her for a moment before returning to her reading.

((I'm sorry if I sounded rude!))

She felt a pair of eyes on her but she didn't look around. Thana was use to the eyes of her peers, it was either the blue hair or the name of her father. She was getting very good at ignoring people. She bent down and let the water run through her fingers. The usual bugs and animals that were there were not around. They didn't like the felling of death she gave off.

Mei felt a demon curl around her leg. She ignored it. She was used to it. It would have appeared to be a black aura to anyone who wasn't a witch doctor.

Thana looked back at the girl who now had a blakish aura, that was weird since she was usually able to see spirits and such. She took a few steps toward the girl than thought twice. The girl probably didn't want the company, especially if this girl was a hero's child.

Mei looked up at the girl before looking back at her book "I don't bite" she said blandly, but loud enough for her to hear.

Thana walked closer, she tried to see the cover of the book, when that failed she wrapped a strand of her blue hair that had been falling in her face around her finger than let if fall back into place before asking, "What are you reading. Her way of speaking was weird, she had no clear accent, instead a jumble from all the ghosts she had heard apeak while growing up.

Mei looked over the brim of the book and her brown doe-like eyes sparkled with curiosity as to who this was. She plainly gestured to the cover.

Thana craned her neck to look at the cover again, "Ah," she said as she sat, cross legged where she had been standing, "I never really got into magic, it seemed pointless for me to know it," Her tone of voice was neither kind nor rude, it was rather indifferent. Thana didn't know who this girl's parent was but it was probably a villian if she was reading books about dark magic.

Mei put down her book suddenly on her lap. The deamon around her leg took on it's animal form, her cat Marshmallow, and sat on her lap. She absent mindedly stroked its ears as she looked at the girl "Really? Well that's sad" she said bluntly

Thana shrugged, her blue eyes glimmered in the sunlight.This girl was very blunt, but that was fine. It wasn't as though skeletons were very tactful. "I'm Thana," she said. She watched the girl stroke the cat, Thana's cat was probably in the stables, Nyx liked the horses even if they didn't like her.

Mei looked at Thana with a small, yet a adorable, tilt to her head "I'm Mei"

Thana offered a small smile to Mei. Thana wasn't going to ask who this girl's parent was, she hated it when people did that to her, it made the ther person treat her different and then she had to put up the villian front which was mentally exhausting. "How do you like camp?" She asked thinking that it was probably a safe topic.

"I hate my class" she said bluntly. They were all heroes and they annoyed her so much that she cursed one girl with a curse that whatever she wore would be 2 sizes small for three days.

Thana nodded, it was understandable, she loved the classes just hated the people. It didn't help that she wasn't use to being around this many people her age. "Anyone specific bothering you?" she asked, Mei didn't outright say people were annoying her but it wasn't hard to tell. "I may not know magic but I am a villain you know," her voice was overly sarcastic as she said it. Thana still didn't believe she was a villain but she could act like it.

((I was at the lake! I'm sorry!))

Mei shrugged "I don't know my dad, but something tells me he wasn't a hero" she said sarcastically.

Thana shrugged, it didn't matter to her one way or another. Sometimes it seemed that villians were nicer than the heroes are. "Its not exactly hard for the heroes to figure out who my father is," she pointed to her hair, "Between the hair and the aura I'm basically a flashing sign."

Mei looked at her for a while before making a guess at her parent "Hades?" she guessed randomly.

Thana nodded almost distastefully. "You can see why people aren't fond of me? Daughter of the god of death and all," Thana hadn't met the children of Hercules and wasn't keen to. They would most definitely hate her, probably more than the other heroes.

Mei leant forward and propped her eblows on her crossed leg and cupped her chin in her hands "On the contrary, it makes you more appealing to be around"

Thana smiled, it wasn't cruel like you'd expect from a villian, it was a genuine smile. One she didn't ever wear around camp. "I wish you and the others saw eye to eye on that. Then again everyone would be the same." Thana looked around, reminded suddenly by Mei's cat. "Where is she?" She said, it probably wasn't meant to be out loud. "Nyx!" She called, it wasn't very loud, definitely not something the camp could hear, nevertheless a skeletal cat came streaking down the lawn to reside next to Thana, the cat looked at Mei, trying to see whether or not she was a threat to Thana, "Mei this is Nyx." The skeleton cat's ears perked up at the sound of her name.

Mei was about to reply when Marshmallow, her cat, morphed into a shadow and materialised next to Nyx and cocked her head slightly, making an inquisitive meow.

Nyx jumped in surprise and hissed at Marshmallow, "Hush," Thana said placing a hand on the cat's back. Once she calmed down she just looked at the cat that had suddenly materialized.

Mei telepathically asked Marshmallow to come back to her lap, and Marshmallow turned back into a shadow and materialised on her lap. Her been eyes regarded Thana and Nyx curiously.

Thana watched the cat disparate. She didn't know there were animals that could do that. She though it was only the gods who could. "What is she?" Thana asked. Marshmallow couldn't be a regular cat. Thana looked out over the lake, all the lakes she had known were made of fire and not a particularly good place to go swimming, the prospect that things lived in it was a bit hard to wrap her mind around, though so was most of this camp.

Mei knew what she was thinking, everyone thought that "She's a demon. She simply likes the form of a cat"

"I haven't seen a demon like that before. I've seen Pain & Panic but I don't know if they qualify as demons, more as pests." This was possibly the most Thana had talked her whole time at camp. Usualy she was around heroes who she definitely couldn't talk to.

"Marshmallow's a shape sifting demon shadow" Mei replesd "and her true form is more of a dark aura than a solid figure"

Van had changed into a pair of shorts for his swim before Alex had dragged him to the lake. As he looked at the water his heart started to race. What if he drowned? But he quickly pushed the thought out of his mind, as not to jinx it. "Are you sure it's okay." Van asked Alex in a unsure tone.

Alex had changed into her swimsuit (view spoiler)[http://www.polyvore.com/swim_suit/set... (hide spoiler)] and met Van at the lake. Alex laughed at his uncertainty. "I'm positive. I've known how to swim practically my whole life and I've been lifeguard certified," she reassured him. "So it's absolutely fine." Alex began to step into the water, going about thigh deep. "Oh come on," she laughed. "Nothing will hurt you. Especially when you're with me. Well, at least in the water."

Van pulled his shirt off and stepped into the water. It wasn't to cold, but it still made him shiver. Why was he being such a chicken? He had been fighting since he was a young child. He was supposed to be the strong, brave, and clever Amidas Vancer Charming, so he needed to act like. Van walked a little further, and then a little more until he was about thigh high in the lake water.

Alex watched as he approached, and realized he was going further than she had gone. She waded over, realizing how tall he was compared to her 5'4". Alex stood beside him, at about waist high. "So, are you ready?" she asked. "The first thing you'll need to know is how to tread water. We'll have to head out a bit further if you don't know how. Keep on going until the water reaches to your chin and we'll begin!" Alex said with a smile.

"Okay" Van said not quite sure of what he was doing. He walked out quite a bit farther until he reached up to his chin. He had a lump in his throat and his hands shook, but he felt triumphant that he had reached that far.

Alex gave him a warm grin and came up close beside him. "Now try and bend your knees and kick, treading water. Do you want to see me do it first?" she asked with a smile. "You're doing such a good job," she added genuinely.

"Sure." He said. Van tried to stand taller so he could keep some of his upper body out of the water. He watched as Alex did it effortlessly. He was like a little child learning to swim for the first time. It was embarrassing and Van's cheeks flashed a little bit of redness.

Alex demonstrated and came in front of him, needing to tread to be so close, as she wasn't as tall as him. "You're doing great!" she said with a smile as he attempted to copy her movements.

Van tried treading water a few moments, copying Alex's motions exactly. He wasn't doing to horribly, and it was kind of fun. "Your not a good teacher." Van told her.

"I could always do my Uncle's approach. He just picked me up and tossed me in," Alex said with a smirk. "He said I needed to learn sometime, and the ocean had always been important to him, so I decided to learn. It does help that I can move the water at will. Come to think of it, that might be why I'm actually good." Alex looked at him, curious what he would think. "We can start heading back and you can learn the basic strokes and kicks. You'll also have to learn how to hold your breath and blow bubbles," Alex said with a grin, which naturally lit up her face, making her appear more gentle and caring.

Van looked at Alex for a minute, she was quite pretty. He quickly put the thought out of his mind, they were just friends, and that's the way it should stay. But the way she smiled made Van smile too. He stopped himself again, and tried to think about something else. "So how do I breathe under water?" He asked her.

Alex noticed Van was staring at her, and she immediately thought that there was something on her face. She took a deep breath and went under, scrubbing her face a bit. Then she swam over behind Van and popped up. "Boo!" she said with a grin.

Alex laughed at his question. "You don't breathe underwater. You hold your breath. When your chest starts to feel tight, you exhale a little. Then again, and before you exhale the third time, you have to come up for air. Just use your mouth to do this," Alex told him.

"Okay." Van said. He dived under water, and stayed there for about 20 seconds. Then he popped back up. It was a strange sensation to be under water, but Van liked it. "I did it!" He exclaimed to Alex.

Alex went underwater as Van did, making sure he was safe and not drowning. She popped up out of the water a few seconds before him, then he exclaimed proudly that he did it. With a huge grin on her face, she replied, "Yes you did! Good job," her grin then turned into a smirk. "I'm a bad teacher, eh?" she said sarcastically. "I'm a pretty awesome teacher, if you ask me," she gloated.

"No, you're a terrible!" Van exclaimed jokingly. He lightly punched her in the shoulder. Van immediately moved his hand, trying to cover up the electric feeling he had when he touched her. He was being absolutely rdiculous, he was just imagining it.

"Oh I'm calling bs," Alex said, grinning. She punched him back and quickly realized something had happened by a look on his face. "What's wrong?" she asked, genuinely concerned. People normally didn't just change their facial expressions for no reason.

"Nothing. Just deep in thought." Van remarked quickly, to cover up the feelings he had towards her. He was being so stupid, ruining a perfectly good new friendship. Love was stupid, and it didn't last.

"Ookay," Alex replied, a bit suspicious of how quick he responded. As if he wanted to cover up something. She stretched out her hand and swept his messy wet hair to one side. She quickly realized what she had done, and quickly returned her hand to her side, blushing deeply. "Sorry, it didn't look right and I wanted to fix it..." she tried to explain, still blushing.

"It's okay!" Van quickly stuttered out. He started to go a little pink in he face too. He dove back in the water, so that Alex wouldn't see his embarrassed face.
