-ʙɪɢɢᴇsᴛ ғᴀᴜʟᴛ- He fears attachment and loss, it makes it hard for him to form relationships.

Declan is a fiercely protective indivdual. Part of it is in his nature, the other in his OCD. No one he loves can be hurt, or else he has to make them better, he has no choice in the matter, none at all. He can't really show himself to people. He doesn't get scared or show fear, instead he always brushes it off, as though nothing could be wrong, and honestly he would rather be left to thinking that everything is fine and pretending that's the truth than learn what has actually happened, because learning means he has to accept it, something he cannot do. He has more trouble accepting things than anything else. He can't accept himself or his sexuality, he can't accept that his sister may never get her memory back. He can't accept that he is a legal orphan.
Once you get past all that, Declan is strong, active, his mind never stops working. He always needs to be doing something to preoccupy his hands. Undiagnosed ADHD. He is kind and tends to seem easygoing to everyone around him. He has a good sense of humor and can make people laugh, but doesn't mind the occasional joke thrown his way. He is always ready with a sarcastic retort, and is a hard worker above all else. Declan is the kind of guy you can trust with anything. He won't betray you, not intentionally at least.

{ᴘᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟ ғᴀᴄᴛs}
-ᴘʜᴏʙɪᴀs- Losing someone he loves, buses, being left alone.

-sᴛʀᴇɴɢʜᴛs- Handsome, quick on his feet, sarcasm, sense of humor
-ᴡᴇᴀᴋɴᴇssᴇs- His soft spot for his sister. Having to take care of his sister. Inability to break from something once he's attached to it.

{ᴛᴀʟᴇɴᴛ}

-ᴛʀᴀᴍᴀ- Declan's trama is being left alone for three days after the accident. His grandparents had gone to the hospital to find out what had happened, and had stayed until Carly was at least out of the many surgeries needed to save her life. It was as though Declan had been forgotten entirely, and no one had even told him what had happened.
-ᴘᴇᴛs- None, he's still crashing with his grandparents, and they won't allow it.

Declan had always been the less liked of the two Crawford siblings, though both had an extraordinary talent for being good at whatever they did, Declan was diagnosed young with OCD. Sometimes it was just too much for his parents, and they had always wanted a little girl anyway. Declan was fine with it though, it never really bothered him. Carly had always been his best friend, the one he knew he could rely on no matter what. She often would be able to talk him down when he got worked up, would let him do what he needed to so that his OCD wouldn't drive him over the edge. She understood him better. Declan was glad for it, especially on vacation when everyone in the family scrutinized his behavior.
One night, coming back from the ski resort, Declan pointed out to Carly that her sweat shirt wasn't in the car. He wished he hadn't. She threw a fit, said she needed it, that she couldn't get on the plane the next morning without it. They were already back to his grandparents home, so they told him to just go inside, that they'd be back in less than an hour. They didn't come. Two hours later, when he was sitting down to eat with his grandparents, the phone rang. Then he was alone in the house. He finished his dinner, then wrapped each of the five remaining untouched plates and put them in the fridge on by one. Then he sat down to start packing the suitcases, not suspecting anything, it wasn't until every last bit off luggage was packed, and he realized it was one o'clock in the morning did it hit him that something was wrong. He couldn't dwell on that fact though, so for the next two and a half days, he ate each of those five other meals, unpacked, and repacked, worried about flights, until he finally got the news.

It devastated him. The one person who understood him was comatose, and his parents were dead. And no one had told him. For three whole days. Declan was hurt and terrified and filled with sorrow the likes of which was so painful he couldn't function at all for nearly a week. Then he focused in on Carly. Bringing Carly back would be what his parents wanted, right? So every single day after school he would go to the hospital and read to her, or play her music, tell her how everything was at school. When she woke up, he wasn't prepared for her to not remember anything. She didn't even remember him. It hurt him, but he had promised the first time that he came to the hospital that he wouldn't give up until she was better, until she was whole again, and he is sticking to that promise. He now watching his sister as she rediscovers the world around them. He won't let her get hurt, not again. This has caused Declan some real issues in his own life though. Dates are cut short or cancelled all together so he can take care of Carly, it's an impulse now, beyond his control. All his dates think his sister is more important to him than his own life, which is true, though he wonders if the real reason is that he just can't get hurt anymore, not be someone he's let into his heart.
