Sorry to read of the passing of E.L. Doctorow. My fastest read was RAGTIME an ambitious retelling of life in the United States at the turn of the last century. I can honestly say that "Ragtime" taught as well as it entertained. I also read "The March" a novel of Sherman's march during the Civil War.

So far I've read Homer & Langley and Andrew's Brain. I know I own Ragtime and probably Billy Bathgate. Maybe I'll get to those last two after I catch up with bookclub books, Petoskey reading, and a review book I have.
