J.A. Friedland I submit that we try calling this imprint Momus: The greek personification of satire and the god of writers and poets.

In any case, it fits my book perfectly.

J.A. Friedland Here's a nice painting of him: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momus#/...

He seems like a godly Diogenes. And like Socrates who was exiled from Athens, he was exiled from Olympus for his constant criticism of the Gods! So is perfect for an indie imprint.

This might not be serious enough, but I worked this up from an old Mardi Gras pin.

Here's another image, 18th century I believe, that we can probably work into something:

That's a wonderful old painting, but do you think readers would make the connection?

Better, yes. Though I still prefer the muscular depiction of the painting. He was merciless.

Here's the Mardi Gras rendition with text:

J.A. Friedland Very nice though the lower text needs centering.

Justin (justinbienvenue) Alright, now we're rolling! I can probably add my books to the shelf now seeing as we have a poetry press.

Can do on the centering. I'm working as time permits right now, so accuracy hasn't been an essential.

Here's the logo centered (I hope) and brightened, and the black and white version:

If it's alright with everyone, I'm going to go ahead and add it to the website. We can change it later if necessary.

All images should be available for download at Photobucket. Double click the image. You should be taken to the Photobucket website. Look for the down load link. I'm not sure what the resolution will be. If it isn't sufficient for use, let me know. We'll try a different route.

J.A. Friedland One problem I just realized is what do do with extra copies of books not sold at book fairs. If several people are selling many different books by different authors this could be quite an accounting task and mailing expense.

What does this have to do with the topic?

J. A.

I imagine it on a quid pro quo basis. If I want a couple copies of your book in my sales inventory, I send you a couple of copies of my book. Exchanges would be voluntary between authors. Printing and shipping costs would be paid by the contributor, sales revenues would be kept by the receiver. Of course, it wouldn't always be an exactly equal exchange. But printing and shipping costs don't vary that greatly between books. If there is a large discrepancy then authors might have to settle for two for one. It would be based on barter. In this system, there is no money exchanged, ergo no need for accounting.

Also, regarding book fairs, we could create imprint signage via Photobucket, UPS, etc., and then each author could purchase his/her own. Once again, no money exchanging hands. And no one is forced to participate.

J.A. Friedland Okay!

J.A. Friedland Suggestion: It would be good to have a web page devoted to each imprint so that when people search for that, e.g. "Momus Press" a page comes up on google. Otherwise, nothing comes up.

I see what you mean. I think I can correct that with SEO, but if not, I will break the Browse our Books up into separate imprint pages. Thanks for the heads up.

I like the idea of separate webpages - could we make them simple and direct them to the main IACP page?

I have made some SEO changes, but it will take several days for them to be cached. The most recent cache is August 4. If I don't see some results in a couple of days, I will go ahead and divide the book shelf

We can do that. I'll try to get to it tomorrow.
