The Faithful and the Fallen discussion
Welcome! Say hello
Hi, Kareem :) I've joined to keep you company, but haven't yet gotten around to reading the books :(I have Bks 1 and 2 sitting nearby, so I promise to start reading as soon as I've finished Uprooted
This is great guys! Thank you for joining. I plan on hosting a read along from the beginning with Malice, we can all agree on a realistic target for weekly chapters and go from there. I'll create three separate discussion groups for Malice, Valour and Ruin for those wanting to plough on :-)
Hello everyone! Good to be here. Thanks for setting up this group, its great to find other people that share my obsession with this series!!
Glad to join! Just remember, some of us poor slobs in the USA don't have access to book 3 yet. I'm not bitter, I don't know what you're talking about. :-P
Welcome! I feel kind of greedy having three copies. No offence, but believe me when I say it's worth the wait!
Guys, I've had a quick chat with John (author) and he says he's happy to help out. I'll try to organise a Q&A at the end of read alongs :-)
Glad to join. Am absoloutely obsessed with the series so far - though i am gutted i still havent been able to get myself a copy of ruin yet! John Gwynne also seems like a thoroughly nice chap and very interactive with his fans, which makes me love the series and everything around it even more! Sometimes in life the good guys are just good guys, and they deserve to succeed. Im writing that about the author, but i pray its true of the series protaganists also. I couldnt bear to be heartbroken, i'm emotionally compromised in these books. Dan
When is this read along likely to begin? I haven't read this series, but want to. I have 2 books to finish first though :P
Dan, he really is a top bloke, I was fortunate enough to meet him at the Ruin signing in london. Even had a few drinks with him. Top blole through and through.
Steve, probably in a couple of weeks. I'd like to give the group a little while to gather people. Watch this space :-)
Sue, gutted! Pesky technology. Charge!!!!

On it.Not yet got any of John's books (epic fail), but by the gods I will do. Kareem has sold them well to me, and John seems a top bloke. They sound right up my blood and mud slick cobbled alley and he also has wicked good photos of himself with wicked bad weapons. All a recipe for greatness, as told in the Odyssey... allegedly.
For now it's back to tummy time with my very own Norse goddess, Freya.
JP
Glad to have you in the warband Jon! Buy Malice with all haste! or rent it then buy it! It would be immoral of me to suggest stealing it so I'll just say GET IT ;-)

Hi guys! I am John Gwynne's son. Really excited about this group as I have been living in the Banished Lands for years now. Great to be able to talk to people who enjoy the characters as much as I do!

We have a celebrity in our midst! I personally can testify to Ed being a great chap, as it wasn't so long ago we were sitting in a rather flamboyant put sipping life's troubles away and talking about the banished lands. Great to have you aboard Ed!

Hi groupMy name is Dean and I'm a alcoholic.
Oh wait sorry wrong group..
Well I'm looking forward to the read along and would like a chapter analysis at the end of each with no spoilers.
It would also be good to have a character list with a very short biog about them but obviously not about things they will do.
Maybe the character list could be copied and expanded so we have a new one for every book.
Kareem if this takes up to much of your time maybe you could get a few others who are as abscessed as you to help you maybe even Ed but I know he's young and has a life and a girlfriend.

I think I can squeeze that in in between reading, working, writing and moving house. Priorities and all that ;-) Any help would be well received. Please apply within ... :-)

Once I've finished Ruin I'd be more than happy to lend a hand Kareem, maybe tie it in with your read-through? =]
Hello everyone! I'm patiently (well, not really) awaiting the release of Ruin here in the U.S. At this point, I'm having serious withdrawals from the series and can't wait til I can get my hands on the book. This has got to be one of the best series I've read in a long while!

Welcome Brenda, make sure you stay away from the 'up to date' discussion, so you don't see any spoilers. Ruin is a great read! Not that long to wait :-)

Hi Mark, great to see you here. For everyones information, Mark represents the UK in kettle-bell lifting, truly a worthy addition to the shield-wall.

I don't know if this is the right place to say this ... but I just bought malice and valour :) looking forward to a read along ... once they arrive in the post xD
You're indeed in the right place Steve! Great to hear you have them inbound. Malice is the stone that causes the avalanche and Valour IS the avalanche! :-)
I have no idea what the series is about but all the positive comments ive heard about it were enough to make me buy the first 2 xD woulda bought all 3 bit the cost of the 3rd was the same as 1&2 combined so I'll wait till a later date to buy it haha
I'm trying to wait patiently for Ruin's release in the US. I'm finding it hard to find anything that holds my interest right now. I think I'm "Ruined" :-)
It is quite frustrating when books are released earlier across the pond. The Liars Key By Mark Lawrence came out in the US before the uk. Thankfully only by a couple of weeks but it still ... vexed me!
