I'll start by saying this is probably my favourite book of all time. From page one the pace just climbs and never lets up! Here's a little bit about it (nabbed off amazon)

War has erupted in the Banished Lands as the race for power intensifies.

Corban flees his homeland searching for peace, but he soon discovers that there is no haven in the west as the agents of Rhin and roaming bands of giants hound his every step.

Veradis leaves the battleground and rushes to his King's side. But he has witnessed both combat and betrayal and his duty weighs heavily upon him.

Maquin seeks only revenge, but pirate slavers and the brutal world of pit-fighting stand in his way.

Nathair becomes embroiled in the wars of the west as Queen Rhin marches against King Owain. The need to find the cauldron of the giants drives him on.

Get ready for a relentless read :-)

Sides are chosen and oaths will be fulfilled or broken in a land where hell has broken loose.

Robert Sharpe | 6 comments I am still writing the review for Valour, and had got out of John a few snippets of future info - which I can't share as they might be in Ruin, but two comments from the forthcoming review for the warband.

"The book starts off at a relentless pace, there's a lot to take in, it's a sign of John's skill that he carries it off ala GRRM"

"The last sentence in the book, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. In the words of Jim Ross (legendary wrestling commentator) - Business is about to pick up!!!!"

Righto better finish and post this review...

Natalka Adamovich | 5 comments This book was great! Near the end I was so engrossed that after I had read the last page I turned to expect more and there wasn't! I really loved the new view points they added, all of them were great. I am super interested to see more of Corban using the earth power.

Also, very interested to see where Cywen/Veradis relationship goes. Seems interesting.

Also any thoughts on Corban & Coralen? I originally thought it was going to be Edana and him but now not so sure...

Brilliant that you enjoyed it! Luckily Ruin is already out if you had the urge to get started on the next one!

Hopefully they all live long enough to further their relationships...
