I had a friend pass away, and he willed his western collection to me. EVERY Louis L'Amour novel, EVERY Max Brand, EVERY Zane Grey, and many, many more. Boxes upon boxes. An unexpected blessing, but a tragic way to get them!
Read one period? Yikes! I can't do that! American reconstruction and American West. Yep. I think I could manage reading that time period the rest of my life.
I still remember my dad giving me my first Louis L'Amour to read before a three hour car ride. It was The Man Called Noon. I still have it, and it's one of my favorite L'Amours. Peter, that is so cool that you have all those sets! Were the hardcover or paperbacks? The book collector in me wants to know. LOL
Tamara... I think that's why your books are so popular! It comes through that you love what you write. So what is it exactly about Medieval that compels you? Is it the attitudes, dress, food... we want to know! "_
Lisa: WWII is such an amazing time. So much happening, good and bad. What book have you read recently that showcased a setting during WWII outside the US?
Since Peter is a gentleman, I'll mention for him that he's written an awesome novel set in the Old West that we published at Mountainview. West for the Black Hills reminded me a lot of those great Louis L'Amours.
Ooh... I just read the summary for Saving Amelie. And the cover is gorgeous! So it's as good as it sounds, Lisa? :)
What did you love most about the main character?

I guess I love Christian Historical Romance that takes place in a period where the women have beautiful dresses and they have balls and parties. I love true romance books that make you feel good about the period. When I read I want to escape and enjoy what is happening in the book.
Oh no, I can't possibly choose. I like reading about the first century A.D., almost anything in the Tudor and medieval era, and WW1.
WWII is my favorite time period. I especially enjoy finding the rare eastern theater novel.I also enjoy U.S. Civil War and pioneer novels.
Pretty much any time period that is historical. :-)
It would be a tie between WWII & Civil War eras, although I also love the birth of this nation era for the founding fathers history. But ultimately WWII would probably win.
Currently, I'm "living" in the first decade of the Twentieth Century, fascinating for several reasons, not the least of which is that my grandparents married and started their families then. I love the Edwardian time period with its wealth and opulence and admire the folks who eked out livings under far different circumstances. I love everything B.J. Hoff writes. Her Mountain Song Legacy series is set during this time.
