Hi, first of all I'd like to welcome you and thank you for deciding to join 100 Classics and beyond.

If you so desire, you can use this thread to introduce yourself and talk about your favorite classics (or any of your favorite books).

I hope that you enjoy being a part of this book club. I'm really glad to have you as a member.

Hi Tara! Welcome to 100 Classics and Beyond, and thank you for joining us. It is always a pleasure to read with people.

Btw, the poll is up for our first book, don't forget to make your vote count. :)

:) You are very welcome to post your thoughts on the discussion board if you'd like.

Erin Green Thank you. I'll give others a chance to read the book first.

Elaine | 1 comments Hi, my name is Elaine and I joined this group as I would love the opportunity to discuss classics. I'm currently reading Wuthering Heights for the 3rd time and really enjoying it. I read lots of children's classics such as Heidi and The Railway Children but it was Great Expectations that really sparked my love of classics.

Welcome to the club, Elaine. Glad to have you!
We finished reading Wuthering Heights, but we're now reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. But you are very welcome to join the discussion of Wuthering Heights, it is still open. I've also read Great Expectations, and decided that I like Charles Dickens after. It's not my favorite, because there are so many good ones, but it's definitely one of my first classic reads too.

Hope you have fun!

Cameron Mozee-Baum | 8 comments Hey Peachy, I just wanted to say, I know it's sometimes tough to stay motivated with a book club on Goodreads, especially in the first few months when there aren't a lot of members and discussion is pretty quiet. It seems like you've really put in an effort to stay active and contribute to the group, and that's really cool. I'll do my best to contribute. But it's also nice just to use the club as an excuse to read the books, even if a lot of people haven't yet gotten involved. I definitely plan on sticking with it. Anyway, I just wanted to acknowledge the consideration you've obviously been putting in.

Thank you Cameron, and now you've motivated and encouraged me further. And you're right, it warms my heart just to think of the people who can get through their list by using this book club as an excuse (to give them the motivating deadlines and requirements).
I'm glad you will stay.
One or two responses is already enough to tell me that my effort is worth it. Sometimes, quality, not quantity, is what matters.

Great! Welcome to the club, Fred. I think that the earlier you get to enjoy the classics, the better too :) I wish that I started a lot earlier too
