Good one, Gehna, has been in my to-read-list for a long time now. Need an impetus like a group read to start this one.

message 4: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Even I wanted a BR or Group read... I hope this wins... otherwise a BR is already planned :D

message 5: by Vimal (new)

Vimal Thiagarajan (veeti) | 646 comments I second Crime and Punishment. Wish to complete atleast one Dostoyevsky tome this year.

Yay. So you have already found two seconders. ( the word looks abnormal, but I don't know the exact word to use here.)

message 7: by Lakshmi (new)

Lakshmi Hayagriva | 45 comments Hi, I am promoting this as I strongly feel that it is a matter of our national conscience. This book actually needs a group by itself IMHO. Thanks.

Aarushi by Avirook Sen

Also available in Hindi.

message 10: by Rian (new)

Rian Nejar (riannejar) The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
I read this a few years ago. Not exactly inspiring, or heartwarming...an easy read, nevertheless.

message 11: by Aparna (new)

Aparna | 279 comments I would also recommend crime and punishment ..m getting a feeling it's one of those books which are so much better when read and discussed rather than a solitary read..

So far, we have
Crime and Punishment
Aarushi
I am not sure about The White Tiger, as I am not sure whether Rian nominated it here, or just mentioned the fact that it is an easy read.

message 30: by Lakshmi (new)

Lakshmi Hayagriva | 45 comments Smith & Rajesh, I am sure you agree that the court scenes in Aarushi were so like Alice in Wonderland ! Hard to believe that a court could function in such an absurd manner ! This could happen to anyone ! Well, if it gets selected for September, then we can all sit and discuss it.

message 31: by Ahtims (new)

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 47125 comments Mod
