Really any of the Harry Potter books have nonhuman characters. Also if you're looking for a banned book. They fit that too. :)

Was Harry Potter banned? Very interesting? Never thought of that for books with non human characters :)
It wasn't banned in the western world. Some countries with a heavy religious slant banned the books because magic is blasphemy. It's really not that special depending on how you think about it. :)
A lot of libraries in the Bible belt banned Harry Potter because they said the books promoted satanic worship via the use of magic. I was a huge stretch.
