Brandon Britton Hey guys, not sure if im allowed to post this here.

Im looking for a Fantasy book that i read over 5 years ago and i just cant seem to find it anywhere. I've tried many sites, and noone seems to recall it

I can describe a few things that i do remember, if it rings a bell with anyone, id really appreciate the help. :)

A young boy who leaves a fishing village. Takes a boat with other young boys as they go the main city to join a magicians guild. The book includes a servant race of people that are totally sub-servant. That can eventually get released past a boundry in the north (protagonist befriends one). The magicians eventually earn their staff and can wander the country. I also believe it has a race of people that invade via airships. Japanese type Honor culture. Eventually the protagonist and a few others go over the northern boundry in search of Dragons and become dragon riders. I also think that one of the members of this invading army is captured and they wipe his memory (Not a Raymond E. Feist book if anyone makes a connection lol)I also believe it is a Standalone and quite a large read. But i could be wrong and never checked for a series

Seems very generic and i hope im not crossing books lol.

If i remember correctly the cover of the book is a valley and a dragon. But im not 100% sure.

DavidO (drgnangl) It sounds like an interesting book. Is it young adult or children's?

Brandon Britton Wouldnt say it was either. Very similar to Raymond E Feist. It was a very large book with a large story it really confuses me as to how noone knows it lol. Read like something alot of Fantasy readers would enjoy from a coming of age type book

Definitely not childrens. Probably could be classed as YA

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 325 comments I wanted to say that it's either Feist but the beginning reminded me of Earthsea. A little. IIRC.

Brandon Britton If i remember correctly the cover of the book is a valley and a dragon. But im not 100% sure

As far as other details. There is a northern frontier set up to guard a place that has been cut off for a long time but i cant remember exactly why. On the other side is freed slaves and a valley with the last dragonrider. Once the protagonist becomes a mage/wizard he gets a staff and ends up wandering around the country. There is a stirring of an invasion from the other race that he finds out first hand.

I cant remember any names unfortunately

Devan I love that book! Lords of the Sky by Angus Wells It's called Lords of the Sky by Angus Wells.
It was one of the first I read when I began reading fantasy. I still see it every now and then at used book stores.
