Lonesome Dove is awesome. Never read the books, but I have seen the series quite a few times just this past year. Robert Duvall kicks MAJOR ass in it!!!

GeneralTHC You should see 'em. Or even OPEN RANGE or BROKEN TRAIL. His characteristics and mannerisms are so good. He absolutely nails it. I'd be hard pressed to name anyone who ever played a part so well. Love it!

Malina How about True Grit by Charles Portis True Grit, I guess it's considered a western and it's great!

Although Westerns are not really one of my genres, I believe I could read True Grit by Charles Portis . Heard good things about that one.

GeneralTHC Anything John Wayne stars in I've seen a gazillion times.

I'm more of a Clint Eastwood fan myself but I like John Wayne also.

GeneralTHC Same goes for Eastwood. All that stuff has been on TV so much over the years and especially here lately. I like it a lot, just wouldn't be interested in reading it.

Sean Brennan | 23 comments I think Westerns are my fav. movies, three that spring to mind are
1. The Wild Bunch - bit of a no-brainer.
2. The Long Riders - well worth a watch
3.Hombre.

Angie | 623 comments I like the spaghetti westerns but I like 3.10 to Yuma as well. If never watched those you mentioned Sean so I'll have to download them. I wouldn't be into reading them either Chuck except that I've heard nothing but good review s about True Grit so that ones a bit tempting.

I've heard of True Grit before and nothing but good stuff. This might be the one I choose.
