Shaun introduces the story with a bit of cough ::

"The Gracehoper was always jigging a jog, hoppy on akkant of his joyicity..."

Ah! Hello Aesop. The ondt and the gracehoper was the very first part of the wake I cast eyes upon years ago...a substitute teacher had talked Joyce up all day, and especially the wake, and when I opened the library copy later that afternoon, what to my wondering eyes should appear?

Nice. Anyone else who'd like a break from the rest or might like a charming toe=dip into the wake ; this little fable is quite charming it is.

Geoff | 166 comments Charming, it is. And an unexpectedly touching affirmation of the risks of choosing to live the wayward life of the artist. Shaun may have his riches and women and an audience before the people, but Shem comes closer to knowing "abought the Great Sommboddy within the Omniboss"...

...and could there ever be a more concise and beautiful way for an insect to describe the approach of winter than "when Chrysalmas was on the bare branches"?
