Riya This was a surprisingly good series. I HATE the covers, but despite my extremely low expectations and hardcore judging, I actually really enjoyed all the books and can't wait for the last one!

Yeahhh when I first saw the covers (and I'd never read a Jenn Armen book before), I was like, urgghhh, cheesy.........and I got put off for a while because in mah experience those kind of covers tend to be made on low budgets e.g. self published authors, and I don't tend to read too many of thoses.....but then I saw my GR friend reviews and the ratings and I thought, ehh, let's just give it a try. AND I'M SOOO GLAD I DID!!!!!!!! :DDDD

Calling all book lovers! This is my review for "Obsidian".

NON-SPOILERS:
Introduction: This book is about a girl named Katy who moves with her mom from Florida to West Virginia after her Dad dies from terminal cancer. She moves in the summer before her senior year and meets her neighbors who are twins also entering their senior year. Their names are Dee and Daemon. Katy becomes good friends with Dee and Katy has some serious tension with Daemon because they both hate each other's guts. Soon, some freaky alien stuff starts happening and Katy has to spend basically all of her free time in Daemon's protection.

This book has some good action scenes, a little bit of romance, but mostly fun bickering, a fellow book blogger and some drop dead gorgeous aliens.

Before reading this book I had heard that it is similar to Twilight. As I was reading it, I have to agree.

My only real problem with this book is the HORRENDOUS book covers. Cheesy to the max.

I would give this book a 89% with very high potential to grow. Can't wait to start the next book!

SPOILERS:
-The whole love hate relationship between Katy and Daemon was very similar to Edward and Bella at the beginning.
-The loving sister, Dee and Alice.
-The jealous pain in the butt, Rosalie and Ash.
-The whole factor about all the non humans being jaw dropping HAWT in both series.
-The end where both girls sacrificed themselves to protect the aliens/vamps.
-The protagonist almost killing the main character for their sacrifice.
-Moving into a small town. Other "brothers/sisters" are there as well.
-The frustration the reader felt of wanted the two love birds to finally get together and waiting FOREVERRR for the first kiss.
-The saving the love interest from a car and then finding out what the other "really" is.
-The jerk face character that said awful things to the main character, even though we know they LOVE them, but they are trying to protect them.

Although, honestly, I don't have any problems with Twilight and loved the series when I first read it 7 years ago. But, this first book (at least) seems very similar.

I like Katy way more than Bella and I think Edward and Daemon are pretty darn close in likeness factor.

All in all, I was expecting more, I was trying to figure out was what going to happen with some elaborate play when it was really a simple explanation.

Ohh, and did you guys read Daemon's POV at the end?! To die for. Absolute perfection.

For the next book:
I predict that there will be a love triangle, Katy will have alien powers from being healed and there will be some nasty stuff go down with the DOD.

What did you think of Obsidian? Do you agree that it relates to Twilight? Did I miss anything? Let me know what you think!

Let's see what happens. Over and out.

Calling all book lovers! This is a post for reviewing "Onyx".

Hello Non-Spoiler People! This section is for you!

Ok, This is the 2nd book in a 5 book series. These books are about two breeds of aliens. The good aliens are called Luxen and they are basically forms of light. They can take on human form, so they look pretty normal (if you consider chiseled and gorgeous normal) and they also have some really cool powers. They can use light as a weapon, take on other forms, more super quickly, they can use telekinesis, heal and much more. The Arum are the bad aliens that are from the sister planet from the Luxen. The Arums are made of shadow and their main goal is to steal the Luxens power. They can sense traces from humans who have been around a Luxen when they have used their powers. This way, they track down those humans to "persuade" them to tell where the Luxen are. We learn all of this in the 1st book. Does this concept seem intriguing to you, go read the first book Obsidian and the second book Onyx and then come back and read the rest of this post!

I would rate this book a 94%. It was absolutely amazing and full of plot twists, action scenes and some gushy romance. Another awful cover though.

Alright, Spoiler People!

In my last post I predicted that there would be a love triangle, Katy would have some alien stuff going on with her after she was healed and some bad stuff would go down with the DOD. Well, the love triangle did NOT turn out like I expected, but the other two were spot on.

The book starts out with Katy getting sick, which I thought was just a side effect from having so much light and heat in her body during the healing, but it turned out to be so much more than that. Katy is a mutant stronger than Daemon?! What?!?!

Ohh, how I loved the beginning of the book though. Now that Daemon was being nice to Kat, it made me like him sooo much more. What about that chocolate chip scene? And the Thanksgiving part? OMGosh. So great. I also loved all of his names he had for Blake, especially Bilbo Baggins. That was great.

I was kind of annoyed with Kat for most of the book though. She kept denying her love for Daemon with irrelevant points and then FINALLY when she realized how much she cared for him she didn't think it was important to bring it up! If she brought it up earlier, there wouldn't have been as many conflicts with Daemon. Then she didn't tell him about Bethany first and instead told Blake. Also, when she didn't tell Daemon that Blake was bad or all the times he had endangered her life. Like, whatttt??? That makes no sense.

I totally freaked out about so many things in this book. When Daemon went into the building and Katy followed and we all though she was in huge trouble when Vaughn showed up and BAM! Daemon to the rescue.

The second book was a lot less Twilight-y, but the training parts reminded me a lot of Rebel Belle. Did Anyone else see that connection?

This book was stock full of surprises, I don't know how anyone could have predicted most of it. What did you guys think of Blake and Will right off the bat? For me, I knew right as we met Blake that something was fishy. As soon as he goes into Biology and sits down next to Kat and gets shocked I knew something was up. Buttt, I talked myself out of it. I thought the shock had something to do with Kat's sickness. As for Will, I thought he was fine at first, didn't love him or hate him. I started doubting him when he kissed her mom while glancing at Katy and the whole potato incident.

Both of their betrayals were a slap in the face, but Will's hurt the most for me. We could kind of see Blake coming because of his careless and Daemon's hatred towards him, but Will had gotten close to her mom. Yuck.

I was so heartbroken when Adam died. I mean, we hadn't seen a lot of Dee in this book anyway and now there is a ginormous wedge between Katy and Dee. I was actually really surprised that Daemon forgave Kat so quickly, but loved that he did it anyway!

When Will showed up to the school telling Kat her mom was in the hospital I was freaking out, but then when he started walking her away from the office with no details I was practically yelling at Kat to not trust him, but she didn't listen (sheesh). I was so mad, when she was all caged up that all Will wanted was to be turned into a mutant. I thought it would have been something way worse like you go, Daemon stays or some sort or trap. Then, when they go to Dawson and it was empty!! Uhh, I was so annoyed and heartbroken for them!

At the end though, when Dawson was right there waiting. Mind. Blown. What do you all think of the end and the book in general? I'll tell you, I am loving the extra Daemon POV at the end.

My predictions for the next book are that Dawson will need some serious therapy from his trauma and it will take most of the book for him to get semi-normal again. I also predict that all will be forgiven between Dee and Katy. Will will either be pissed and go after Daemon or Kat's mom because he didn't mutate or he will mutate and be bonded to them. Also, they will find the other crystal that Blake was talking about to enhance their powers. I hope their are no more cage scenes though because that was just awful.

Until next time! Over and out.

Calling all book lovers! This is for "Opal"! I recently read the 3rd book in a 5 book series called Lux. I have already posted the 1st and 2nd book review last month. You can go to my September 2014 archive to see them.

Non-Spoilers:
Ok, this book is about aliens and a girl named Katy. The protagonists are Katy, Daemon, Dee, Andrew, Ash and Matthew. The antagonist are Blake, the DOD, Arum (bad aliens) and Daedalus.

I suggest reading the first 2 book before reading this one and then come back here!

I give this book a rating of 52%. It took me awhile to read it because it has been a really busy past few weeks, so that might have disrupted the flow of the book, but here are my thoughts:

Spoilers:
Alright, lets start off with the things I did like about this book. I loved the scene where Daemon turned into a zombie. That was hilariously cute. I also loved when Dawson, Daemon and Katy would have movie marathons. I absolutely adored the Prom night scene and when Daemon bought her a laptop. Daemon is so adorable and the whole setup was great! I liked how the author incorporated Katy and Daemon sharing the same heartbeat more in this book. It was sweet to see how intact they were and how well they knew each other solely based off of their own heartbeats. I also really liked when Daemon shocked Blake from across the table when he started talking to Katy and then close to the end of the book when Katy shocked Ash for talking about Daemon. Ohh, of when Katy was describing kissing Daemon to Lesa! This is what she said, "I'm like a puddle of much when he kisses me. It's embarrassing. I'm so like, 'Thank you, can I have another?' Sad.". Adorable. I also loved when Daemon told Katy to calm down or he would have to find hr a ball of yarn to play with because of the whole kitten thing! I really only loved the last 2 chapters of the book besides the parts I just mentioned.

Next, what I didn't like, but be warned, there are quiet a few things... I found in the book that it was very predictable for the most part and that the characters seemed dumber. I don't know if that was just me or what, but for like half of the book, I knew what they needed to do before they even brought it up in the book. For example, the opal. Blake mentioned LAST BOOK that there is a specific mineral that enhances their powers. So, the first thing they needed to look for is the mineral, son't you think? There is a good chance that it could fix the whole onyx problem! But, noooo, they wanted to try torturing themselves and the opal didn't come up into 70% through the book! That's insane. And wouldn't Dawson have built up some sort of resistance to the onyx by being imprisoned for a year? That would have helped, but I don't understand why the author didn't give him the immunity. So, then after that the first thing to do would be to look in Katy's room just in case Carissa left the opal behind. Like duh. It doesn't to try, right? But no, that's silly, just waste even more time. So, as you can tell, that part reallyyy bothered me. I also thought it was stupid not to take Simon's opal once he was knocked out. That just seems like the obvious thing to do, but once again nothing happened. Another example is when Will came over to Katy's blabbing on and on about revenge. As soon as he was there I pieced together what he was there for and Katy's a smart girl, she should have figured that out. Obviously, he was going to kill her to get back at Daemon. I mean, OBVIOUSLY. I didn't like how he said that he would kill the mom as well though No matter what happened, her mom didn't do anything and he had to care for her at least a little.

Ohh, and am I the only one who thought the sex scene was wildly inappropriate? There were like 15 other moments throughout the books that were better than that. She was just waking up after being shot! How is that the right time? And they had led up to that moment throughout practically all the books. It was just kind of a let down. Also, I didn't like Katy's and Daemon's on and off relationship at the beginning of the book or how easily she forgave him. Call me weird. but I just don't really love Katy and Daemon together. I don't know, I just don't love it. I accept it, but I don't love it. I also didn't like Dee's attitude throughout the book. She mentioned that their friendship was ruined and there was no way that Katy could fix it, but that is just silly. I mean, it wasn't Katy's fault and she didn't do anything on purpose. Dee and Adam entered the house by their own decision. I do agree, however, that Katy should have told Dee about Dawson and her suspicions of Blake in the last book.

Blake. What a jerk. That guy really confuses me. Does he like Katy or not? Because I find it very odd that he would tell her he did after betraying her and that she would believe him, but not tell Daemon. Then, she found out he was sneaking in her room and sleeping in her bed and she STILL didn't tell Daemon! That makes no sense. I am really curious what Beth was trying to tell all of them at the end though. Was it that Blake took Katy's opal or something else? I have my suspicions about him and Chris not really being connected or something off about their relationship. Another thing I didn't get was why, if Beth constantly escapes, why they wouldn't just wait until the next time and then grab her and let Blake solve his own problems.

I really liked the ending of this book and think that it gives the next book really great potential to be awesome! All in all though, this book was disappointing and very frustrating for most of the book. I hope that most of the next book won't be spent trying to get Katy or her being in captive. That would suckkk.

My predictions for the next book are that it will be dual POV (Katy and Daemon). Daemon will have manyyy major freak outs and so will Katy, but for different obvious reasons. Blake is not done. Dee and Andrew will have a weird relationship. Anddd Beth and Dee will be very helpful with getting Katy out.

What do you all think? Feel free to contradict! Over and out.

Calling all book lovers! This is for "Origin"! Can I just address the book cover for a quick sec? Better, but still cheesyyyy! Although, I have seen the next book's cover and, let me tell ya, it is wayyy better!

Alright, Non-Spoilers:
A great story of good aliens vs. bad aliens and the government. Exciting fight scenes, duel POV, lovey dovey-ness and humor all in one incredible book. Yes, ladies and gentleman, this book has it all! It will make you cry and laugh in a matter of chapters, pick it up and read it! Right after the first 3 books of course!

I give this book a 98% out of 100 because it was just marvelous and my favorite of the five book series so far!

What up Spoiler peeps?
Ok, who else LOVED the Hunger Games reference? Then later when Katy mentioned that she had read a book with Greek Mythology in it before. Who else thinks she was talking about Percy Jackson???

Let's talk characters! So, I love Archer. Plain and simple. He is probably my new favorite character and since my old favorite character is Dee, I am ecstatic that they have a budding fondness. Remember that scene where she was slowly incing closer to Archer in the yard and then Daemon saw her and asked her to get him a soda, but she said no and sat down next to Archer to start talking with him? Yeah, that was great! I also loved when Daemon said he would draw the line at Dee taking Archer to Olive Garden with the whole Olive Garden bit going!

I also had a new found respect and adoration for Luc. Last book, we really weren't for sure about him, but this book we got to see his character even more. I loved when he the entire scene when he bursts into the motel room with donuts and a matching shirt with Katy while making fun of Daemon! That whole thing was hilarious! Also, loved the alien stuffed toy DB. I thought that whole thing was really cute. It was really thoughtful of him to get Daemon's family and extended family to safety, but I didn't understand why he wouldn't take Katy's mom either... I mean, if Daedalus was going to go after Daemon's family, what would stop them from going after Katy's mom? Especially now that her face is plastered all over the news! I do love that Dee is back though! I really have missed her since she was still mad at Kat in the last book and practically non-existent in the majority of this book. But I am so happy to have her adorableness back!

I guessed very early on that Archer was Luc's inside man just because there were no obvious other choices. I really liked the introduction of the Origins and how Archer and Luc are one of them. I love that they can read minds because it creates many entertaining awkward and humorous moments. Although, I still want to know what happened once the Origins helped Katy, Daemon and Archer escape... And how could Dawson and Beth not know about Origins?? I don't get that. I mean, how different was their experience with Daedalus?

Now, onto Matthew. Stinking Matthew. So, last book when Luc told Katy to not trust anyone, the first person I assumed he was talking about was Matthew. I didn't think it was Blake because I thought that Luc and Blake had a partnership and Luc wouldn't give him up. So, I was suspicious of Matthew for awhile, but it was still a slap in the face to find out the truth and how he had turned Dawson and Beth in as well. I was also not torn up that Blake was dead. I did expect him to be around a little longer, at least until Daemon arrives, but still not sad to see him gone.

There were some definitely intense scenes in this book. I hated that Paris, Ash and Andrew died, but I also would have preferred that they died then the people that lived died. It was also nice that Ash's last action was sacrificing herself and being selfless. Another intense scene was Katy's back getting sliced open. Ugh, that was awful! I could feel Daemon's rage through his words.Ya know what I didn't like though? How Kat said she woke up aching and sore. Yet, when she got shot last book, she was perfectly fine when she woke up. Whattt?!?!

In my last post I mentioned that I did not love Daemon and Katy's relationship. Well, I am happy to say that I disagree with that now. Now that we have the duel POV with Katy and Daemon we were able to see Daemon's softer, lovey side. I loved being in his head and to see past his cockiness and into how much he truly cares for Katy. I really believed it now and it made me love their relationship sooo much more. And that proposal. "Will you make me the luckiest bastard on Earth and marry me, Katy Swartz?". Adorable. I really appreciated the cliche-ness of being married in Vegas under fake names in secret as well.

Now, I was a tad bit disappointed in Daedalus. They seemed kind of amateur in some areas. Like how they would give the serum to the Origins. Like they need any help. Or when they gave the serum to the people Daemon healed at the wrong time. I feel like they would have figured that out already. I also thought they were very naive to think they could contain all those crazy smart and dangerous origin kids. Like tons of them. Like, no. Ohh, another thing I don't 100% get is the Arum. Are they good or bad? Some seem to not love Daedalus (the Arum in Luc's bar) and some are fighting for them. I just can't really tell where their alliances lie. Maybe with the Origins? Who knows.

So, as you can tell, this review is much more positive than last review. I really enjoyed this book and it is my favorite of all the books so far. The next book will have a hard time beating this one I think.

My predictions for next book:
Dee will freak out that they got married without telling her. We will hopefully be introduced to new and exciting alien characters. Archer and Dee <3. Baby Origin causing mayhem at every turn, but also kicking butt. The fall of Daedalus. Katy's mom will be in trouble and will be bait.

What did you all think of the book? Over and out.

Calling all book lovers! This is for "Opposition"! Look at this severely improved book cover! This is my favorite cover by far, although I would not go as far as to call it beautiful yet.

So, this is the last book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout! For this book I dub thee a 95%, which puts this book 2nd place in the series for me!

My top to bottom in this series is Origin, Opposition, Onyx, Obsidian and lastly, Opal. I really enjoyed this series and only didn't like 1 of the 5 books.

Non Spoilers:
This book is about Luxen, hybrids, Orgins, Arum, some humans and the government. I suggest reading these books from 1-5 and the included novels if desired.

Spoilers:
Alright, so I really liked this book and thought it was a good last one. Let's start at the beginning, shall we? Well, I loved the beginning when Kat starts telling us her plan of the end of the world and how her plan was to go out on her rooftop and listen to R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World". That was just the perfect opener. Later, we are in the supermarket when Luxen drop down and start simulating people left and right. Pretty terrifying. It sucks even more when Kat finds her lost love Daemon and then gets knocked out by Dawson. Fun. Then, Kat ends up in Luxen headquarters where we find out that Daemon is actually fully aware of the Luxen madness around him, but has to act a certain way to gain and keep their trust. But, we all know Daemon, so of course his charade didn't last very long.

I really hated the way Daemon treated Kat throughout that whole thing though... I mean, I know we knew what was going on, but she didn't! I also kind of thought Daemon was doing a very sucky job of acting like he didn't love Kat anymore by threatening people just for looking at her or being in the same room as her.

Now, let's talk crappy characters! First on the list, Sadie! Yup, hated that girl. Interesting how she turned out to be an Origin though! Completely stopped me in my tracks. Another person who completely got on my nerves? Dee! I mean, she has not been my favorite person since book 2, but this was a whole new level! She was sooo mean to Kat and was even willing to kill Daemon! Insane! I am really glad she snapped out of it though! Lastly, I really did not like the Elder or his hatred of humans, hybrids, Origins or Arum. I mean I felt bad for the way he was raised and everything, but he took it out on the wrong people.

There were some really good new characters as well though! I really liked the general and how interesting it was that his daughter is a hybrid as well. I still love Luc as well! He is just the best character. How we talks about lunchables and killing in the same breath. I also love his sarcasm and power. He is so lovable, yet extremely intimidating. It really makes him a great character. I also really liked Hunter and Lore. It was really great to see how normal the Arum actually were. I actually really liked all the Arum interactions and getting to see how similar they actually are and how much they like to get on each other's nerves! Especially Lotho. He was such a weirdo though. It was amazing how the Arum entered the battle though, like dark clouds! Perfect timing to save Kat and Daemon's butts! But, when Hunter and Lore left them in the house alone and then Dee attacked I thought that Hunter might have turned on them and told them where they were...

One thing I didn't get though, was why they didn't mention the e-bombs earlier to Lotho. If they told him that, the Arum would have been more likely to help since it would have affected them to! Instead they had a really awkward interaction with Lotho that quickly went south. I really liked seeing Kat stick up for herself in Arum's liar place to Lotho. Everyone expected her to stay quiet, but she wasn't having it!

Now on to the inevitable... Kat's mom... This part was really depressing. I mean, I didn't expect her to be alive. I feel like they were very naive for going into the situation hopeful and unprepared. It was still heartbreaking though. Especially when we saw how her mom had not changed anything since she left. I was really hoping that they simulated the mom slowly so that she might still be alive, but nope. Sad.

Kat and Daemon really grew a lot this book as well! They are just so adorable! I loved how Kat wondered if her and Daemon every made googly/lovey eyes at each other like Beth and Dawson does and how Archer answers that they do. Then later he says that they are doing it now and it is just so cute!

I really thought that this book was really good and funny! I especially loved all their pop culture comments. A ton of Harry Potter references, Avengers, Justin Bieber and Starbucks! Hilarious and wonderful!

Now, baby Origin! Honestly, I was kind of disappointed about the whole thing! I really thought the whole baby thing would have a bigger impact on the book! I don't really even see a point to it at all. I did like how they named her Ashley after Ash and how interesting that she is the first female Origin. I wonder why that is...

I expected more people to die in this book though, so that was weird. I mean, many people died in the last one, which means that at least one import character should die in this one as well, right? I really thought Daemon was going to die. I mean, there was sooo much foreshadowing that he was going down! Then, when he got shot, I thought that was it! But nope, we ended up with a happy every after. One thing I didn't get though was why Dee didn't try healing him? Does it not work that way or something?

The ending of the book was very nice as well. I loved the "you know I love a challenge" reference from book 1 I believe. That was so sweet and cute! I also love how Kat talks about books and blogging. It makes her so much more relatable to book nerds like us! Also, when Dee made fun of Dawson's dad hair?! So great! I was kinda disappointed that we never really got a change to get to know Beth though. We heard a lot about her from Dawson, but never really had a chance to grow with her.

So, to conclude, I really enjoyed my adventure with this series! The characters were, for the most part, great and the fight scenes were always kick ass!

If you liked this series, then I also recommend that you read the "Shatter Me" trilogy by Tahereh Mafi! These are very good books about finding strength and kicking ass. It also has some lovey doveness, lots of fight scenes, super powers and much more!

See ya soon! Over and out.
