Pet Sematary, Salem's Lot, and The Shining are all not too long and great. IT, The Stand, are much longer and great.

Carrie is a good place to start, it was my starting point, and I enjoyed it a lot. And since it's mainly focused on Carrie's perspective, it may be familiar territory to other books with a woman protaganist so could be easier to get into than the other books.

I'd like to recommend 'The Dead Zone' it's not too long and I really enjoyed it, it was one of the first of his I read and I was slightly familiar with the tv series that was based on it. I'd also suggest 'Green Mile' again not too long and if you've seen the film then you'll already have some idea what its about.

they are all awesome minus Carrie, Blockade Billy, and the Gunslinger (However don't let the Gunslinger turn you off from the rest of the Dark Towers)

I agree: Start at the beginning, with Carrie. You also might want to read King's excellent book, On Writing. It provides valuable background information that I'm confident will enhance your enjoyment of his fiction.

Enjoy Mssr. King! He has had a tremendous influence on my writing.
