I don't make rules that make people feel bad. There was a group I saw that banned those who liked Twilight. It was a Harry Potter lover group. I find that very hurtful. People can like Twilight as well as Harry Potter. People such as me.
agh, i have a headace. one of my groups just got way out of control...
Here is Goodreads Moderator Guidelines
guidelines for group moderators
If you moderate a group on Goodreads, here are some guidelines and information that will help you.
organizing your group
* Fill out the group setting info and add a description and a photo for the group.
* Organize and stimulate group discussion by creating new topics about subjects the group wants to discuss.
* Organize discussion topics into folders if the group needs it. Only moderators can create folders and arrange their order, but any member creating a topic can decide which folder the topic goes into. To move a topic from one folder to another, click on the topic then click on 'edit' next to the topic title.
* If your group is an active bookclub, make sure to add the book you are reading to the 'currently-reading' shelf.
moderating discussion
* Moderators have the power to delete any discussion post in the group, so keep the group clean. We suggest leaving all member comments except for the following: spam, porn, extremely offensive material (eg Pro-Nazi, etc), or direct personal attacks on other members. Arguing is often part of discussing, but personal attacks are not necessary. When you do delete a comment that members may miss, note you have done so and why, so members know what happened. Note that members can also edit or delete their own comments.
* Moderators have the power to remove any member from the group. Removing a member will block them from re-joining. You can edit the group's block list from the group settings page.
* Moderators can add other moderators. We suggest you do this if you aren't particularly active, or want to leave the group.
* Moderators can give themselves, or any other moderator, a fun title!

Yep, read this before. Basic stuff, but pretty useful.
ok so wen peole waant to be in your group you should talk to the other moneraters (if there is any) and if one of the moneraters now them and there nice them you should have them in your group but if not then look at there profile and send them a message and ask why they want to be in the group but if they dont let you look at there profile then look to see if anyone in your group is there friend and if there is then ask that person if there nice and if they are then add them in but if they arent anyones friend then i dont now what to say but i dont that will happen
thanks see one of my groups was getting alot of invites and the 3 moneraters (katie cailyn and me)had to make a plan and i made this plan bye myself and i think its working and aparently people like the group

Good advice!
Kay Guys I need help. One of my groups I have had since February and it only has like 5 or 6 members I have posted links for it and have only gained 2 members that were not my friends. I have started topics to try and keep it active Really only me and my friend post and even she does not post very often. Any Ideas?
Its okay! don't worry about it.

You have to:
1. Know what kind of group it is. (discussions, games, random, people collector, roleplay)
2. BE FRIENDS WITH YOUR FELLOW MODS. This is important. If you hate each other, no good will come of this.
3. Make RULES. List your PET PEEVES. People will respect them if you make them clear.
4. ALWAYS be active in the group. ALWAYS. It rubs off on others.
5. Advertising does help. :D
6. Always be nice to new-comers, even when they are extremely slow and don't understand things.
