Slow start?

I've just read the first three chapters, and am kind of falling asleep. Does this just have a slow beginning, and then gets much better as things kick into gear?

It's not bad, but there are two things that bug me: (1) Sounds like Reichs is trying a little too hard to make the teen characters talk trendy and modern, and (2) I wish I wasn't told so much of the background. *SPOILER* Like explaining the librarian was trying to cover up the murder. We read about the main characters putting pieces of the puzzle together, but I wish I didn't already know how the puzzle looks completed!
This book is not good at all. Like at some points it was cool and all, but overall it sucks.

The foursome just gained their powers, so things are getting interesting. I just read the debutante dance party chapter - that was pretty funny.
Did you finish it? I agree with you about the teens speaking hip and cool.

Glad you liked it. I think the series gets much better as you go through them. Definitely worth reading number 2.

Yes, it is a really slow start at the beginning but then it starts to get really interesting!
So if I especially hate slow beginnings is this series really worth reading? I love a lot of books similar to it but I feel like the writing of this book would bug me.
I really liked this series even if it did have a slow start. The writing was really good I thought but maybe you like a different kind of writing.
