On chapter 11 at the moment. That tidbit about the angel's sword having to grant you permission to use it was pretty neat. I can see this playing an important role later in the book.
I do too! I find it odd that it so easily granted Penryn access. I finished the book yesterday, so I've bee waiting for someone else to bring up what happened in these chapters, haha.
I absolutely love the part where raffe holds her when she is having nightmares is adorable and I love how he is so entertained by penryn and is practically flitting with her the whole time
I am really wanting to know why he had been fighting with the other angels at the beginning. What was going on there? Anyone have any theories?
Veronica, you finished the book so quickly! I am trying to hold back from asking you how things turn out.
Okay, so I'm not going to read the rest of the posts at the moment because I only just finished chapter 12, but I had to post about it. Holy crap! When they found the family on the road and she noticed the broken eggs I literally got chills. I just read The Road last month and this book is just as dark so far. It's very gutsy for a YA novel and I love that. See you in 6 chapters :D

Just finished Ch. 18. This book is flying by! I definitely need to get it and World After in Paperback so I can put them on my shelves. This is already turning out to be one of my top reads this year. Anyone else wonder if Raffe might be the Archangel Raphael?
I can't stop thinking about obi won kanobi( however that's spelled) when I read the guards name. lol.
to the question about why raffe was being beat up by other angels. so maybe there's 2 different kinds of angels then... some wanting to destroy humans and some who are against it. maybe he could be the archangel - i feel like that could fit because it seems like he is extra strong even for an angel AND because he said that knowing someones name gives you power.
Exactly Jessica that's what I was thinking. Also since Raphael is the angel responsible for healing humans. So maybe he was helping people and that's why the angels were taking him out? Just a theory

How much do you bet's he's the archangel, Raphael?"

Haha yes! that's how I've been picturing him too!

yeah I want to know what's up with that because he doesn't seem to be like all the other angels

I don't know why it didn't occur to me that he could easily just give out a fake/nick name to Penryn instead of his actual name.
Also, i was wondering, how come that in chapter 17 Penryn says she has seen Gabriel being shot on TV and refers to him as the 'angels' leader'? Shouldn't that place be Michael's since he's usually depicted as the head of God's army?

I was wondering that too! I guess it depends what the author was trying to do. Whether she used real angel names or not O_O

Whenever Gabriel is shot down the communication is cut. Maybe? I don't remember for sure. Whoops. Maybe she just mixed them up or something.

And I guess he would be one of the leaders. Maybe they are like angel squadrons and each of the archangels has a group or something
Catie wrote: "Bianca wrote: "Catie wrote: "Just finished Ch. 18. This book is flying by! I definitely need to get it and World After in Paperback so I can put them on my shelves. I wonder if now that Gabriel is out of the way they'll pick someone else like they would do if they were a regular human army and if so, how it works. There are still so many questions yet to be answered about how the author sees angels in this book so I really hope we'll get some of these answers by that end of it.
