When I saw the Graphic Novel category this is the first book I thought of. Maus, I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History was written by the son of an Auschwitz survivor and it is the combined story of his father's experiences in Germany during the Holocaust and the story of the author's difficult relationship with his father. There is a second part that I will be reading soon. In my opinion this book is an absolute masterpiece. The emotion conveyed in the panels with just a few pen strokes is stunning. And the insight into what these people went through before during and after the war is priceless. If I ruled the world, this would be required reading.

This is such a great book! If you haven't read the second one yet, I think you'll like it just as much.
