Once a great enemy to the Coven of Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies now a strong ally for Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies and Gentlemen. The Voodoo Practitioners practice the Dark arts and Voodoo. Much like the witches they have their own Supreme-like leader known as the 'Voodoo Queen'.
The Voodoo Queen is determined not through a series of test but a single test. If they can prove their power is as great or equal to the current ruler who will soon step down they will be granted the throne and shared secrets that only the royals of the Voodoo will ever know.

Voodoo refers to the magical framework, and the practitioners and adherents to them. Voodooists are humans with magical talent. Voodoo was also a religion, beginning as a tribal and spiritual belief in Africa brought over by the slave trade, beginning in Haiti and spreading to the Caribbean and Louisiana, most notably New Orleans. In "Coven", as the witches settled in their new territory a rivalry between them and the native Voodoo practitioners arose. The feud is still on going in present day New Orleans just to a lot lesser extent.

Voodoo Queen

The Voodoo Queen is a title served to heavily famed voodoo practitioners and was given for their accomplishments in the Voodoo arts and for their power. Marie Laveau was the only known Voodoo Queen known before her demise. The new Voodoo Queen now being the Witch Coven Council member Queenie.

As the central figures of the spiritual magical religion, Voodoo Queens also served as leading rituals and spells and selling voodoo artifacts, mainly talismans and charms.

Potions
◘Eternal life
The Eternal life was a magic potion, which contains the tears of an immortal being. It was only used once, Marie Laveau made this potion and tricked Madame Delphine LaLaurie into drinking it. When Delphine drinks it dry, remarking its honeysuckle-like taste, she feels pain and collapses unconscious. During her unconsciousness, the Voodoo Queen takes her chance and murders Delphine's family and sets free her slaves. Immortality was given to Marie Laveau by the Voodoo spirit Papa Legba.

Rituals

The Voodoo Ritual and a unique ability of practitioners of Voodoo, consists in a magic circle and sacrifice of animals, thus they can invoke great powers. (Marie Laveau, Chantal)

Fertility Ritual
One of Marie Laveau's trademark but expensive spells that has a 100% success rate. Performed using semen from a human male and goat's blood which is spilled over the woman's parts. During the ritual, Laveau does a ritual dance while consuming a guinea pepper, which is supposedly "hotter than Hades", to attract the spirits. After the ritual Marie sleeps for four days and nights.

Raising the Dead
Performed with a veve, or a traditional voodoo symbol. Reanimates the dead to seek revenge upon the living. The ritual includes the sacrificing of snakes before drinking it's blood. In the two instances depicted, Marie Laveau had items that somewhat links to the dead that she plans to raise e.g: hair, noose [belongs to LaLaurie's daughters], cloth [from soldier's uniform]. The specific dead seem to have an ironic twist dependent on the target: the first, a group of segregationists, were attacked by Civil War Union soldiers; the second, Delphine LaLaurie, was met by her long-dead daughters (the actions of one of whom, while living, started the feud with Laveau in the first place). Also, the veve that Marie draws on the floor is the veve of Maman Brigitte, the Voodoo goddess of Death and the husband of the God of Death, Baron Samedi. The ritual also allows the caster perception and possibly control of those raised, an element of magic commonly called necromancy.

Pinning
One of the most famous practices of the Voodoo. The ritual includes Voodoo Dolls, Pins and draws.Hurts or kills an specific victim, the Caster can manipulate pain and movement through the Doll.

The feud between those who practice witchcraft and those who practice voodoo is meant to be an allegory for the themes of oppression and racism. The Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau also mentioned to the current Supreme Fiona that witches stole magic from them after being betrayed and their secrets of magic introduced to other women though this is yet to be confirmed.

Papa Legba

Papa Legba is the gatekeeper of the spirit world as well as the god of travel, opportunity and luck. He is also associated with life and death. Before and after a voodoo ceremony Papa Legba has to be summoned to guide the spirits back to the spirit world.

At some point in time, Marie Laveau sold her soul to this spirit for immortality, he asks her every year a sacrifice, each year worse than the other. In order to make a deal with Papa Legba, the Sellers must have a soul and kill someone with an innocent soul.

Papa Legba is a spirit with coal-red eyes and black dreadlocks. He wears a long black overcoat and a hat with small skulls around it, decorated with various bird feathers. Papa Legba posses a claw-like attachment to his finger from which he snorts cocaine. Something he occaisonally seen doing in the series.

Being the gatekeeper of the spirit world, Papa Legba is always interested in aquiring souls no matter who they are from. He was willing to make a deal with Fiona Goode for her soul despite her being vain, cruel, and murderous but revoked the deal when he found that she lacked a soul. Yet once he succesfully makes a deal for someone's soul Papa Legba delights in tormenting his victims into sacrificing innocent souls for him.

Despite his often antagonistic and somewhat sadistic persona; Papa Legba is an honest individual. He explained clearly and honestly his terms of granting immortality to Fiona when she asked for details. Furthermore he meticulously explained the dynamics of Marie and Delphine's immortality to Queenie while also praising her for her sharp mind and powerful magic in being able to enter and exit the spirit world succesfully.

What Papa Legba does with the innocent souls he aquires from his accomplices (namely Marie Laveau) is unknown. Theoretically because these souls are in fact innocent and therefore haven't done anything to warrant damnation to their own personal hell then it can be assumed that Papa Legba sends these innocent souls to a lighter afterlife that dosen't warrant eternal torment.

To summon Papa Legba the individual must have true desire and intent to see him and must offer something of value to pique his interest. Being the spirit of Life and Death Legba is able to grant immortality to those who request it, but it comes at a price, your soul. Along with your soul Papa Legba will demand the sacrifice of an innocent soul one day, of his choosing, every year.

To make matters worse, Papa Legba makes his prices worse as time passes, as an attempt to psychologically drive the person into madness for their desires.

Papa Legba first appears and awakens a sleeping Marie and demands that she pay his price and reminds her that once a year she must provide a soul for him. He appears again in a flashback as Marie explains to Fiona how she became immortal and how long ago she gave birth to a baby, but Papa Legba wanted her to give up the infant to him, she tried to take back the deal and become mortal again but could not was forced to give him her child. Fiona called Papa and tried to arrange a deal with him for immortality and she agreed to his terms of service, but when she tried to finalize the deal, he says the deal is off because she has 'nothing to sell' saying she has no soul and then disappears. Then after Fiona and Marie drown Nan in the tub he appears and tells them that he won't accept any substitutions and that they must provide an innocent soul, after they try to convice him, he comments that the two of them together are 'big trouble' and then escorts Nan's soul to the afterlife though she comments it is better than being in the coven.

Queenie later takes up audience with Papa Legba, using voodoo magic to enter the spirit world where she finds herself in Chubby's, where she used to work. Papa Legba appears to her and explains that this is how Queenie percieves Hell, the place where she was treated badly and considered herself worthless. Queenie then inquires over where Marie Laveau is. Papa Legba reveals that Marie has been dismembered and scattered by Delphine LaLaurie, and tells Queenie that while Marie lives, so also will Delphine. Queenie notions that because Marie is disembodied, she can no longer pay her service to Papa Legba. Papa acknowledges this, then warns Queenie to leave or be stuck in the afterlife forever.

When Delphine finds herself incarcerated in the spirit world, tortured by Marie Laveau, and the latter refuses to butcher Delphine's daughter, Papa Legba appears. He says to Delphine 'welcome to Hell', prompting Marie to question why she is dead. Papa Legba tells her that she could not hold up her end of the bargain, and that he owns her soul. He orders her to 'get back to work'.

After Fiona dies, Papa Legba appears in her hell, laughing maliciously at her torment.

Voodoo Territory

The Coven once had claim over many parts of New Orleans until the Voodooist began growing out and expanding. Where peace still remains given Queenie is a mix of both Witch and Voodoo the lines wear thin. It simply marks a point where the Voodoo population seems to be far more frequent and the witch population a bit less.
But the peace remains allowing Voodooist to live safely among the witches without confrontation and vise versa.
