Brenda has William lined up to lead the discussion, which I didn't know, so sorry William! You just butt right in and add whatever threads you like!
Hello Everyone, I just started this book yesterday.I'm About 70 pages in ,I have never read anything by this author,do All his books star this slow? Don't get me wrong I find the the story and storytelling thus far interesting,Just a little slow.
I am planning to read it, although I don't have much reading time at the moment so will probably get left behind!

Most of Kay's books don't start off with a lot of action, although he does have some notable action scenes in his book. The Sarantine Duo has one of the most exciting chariot races I've ever read. This one has some good action later on too.
read a bit of this book last night before bed. I am looking forward to another tale of Historical Fantasy with GGK. I enjoy his change of pace (which was commented on already) from my current flurry of face paced reads. These are books to be savoured
Being a huge Kay fan, I read this right when it came out. While it wasn't my favorite of his standalone works, I still thought it was heads and tails better than so many other authors in the fantasy genre. I'm in the middle of a move, and my copy is packed up and in storage, so I won't be participating in the group read sadly. It does start out slow, but it will pick up, especially as the plot threads multiply and re-converge.
I bought this this morning and have been reading it. My first impressions are the summary doesn't really tell me much and historical fantasy isn't highest on my list. But to counter balance it I do like ancient history and Asian societies. Over a fourth done I'm not a big fan of the jumping perspectives, but I writing is fairly smooth. I also like how the details of the world are added in with Tai's thoughts.
