The book (at least the original version) had a lot of strange junk that needed to be cut out. It was some sort of rambling Italian politics if I remember correctly. I think they rewrote it after the movie. I loved the movie, especially the Inigo Montoya chracter. I posted this link on my F.B. page for Mandy P. to see. I don't know if he'll answer. Funny fantasy is one of my favorite genres. Maybe I will try reading the version of The Princess Bride I see here.
I thought the book was a lot funnier - I enjoyed the movie, but I was definitely a little disappointed because the everyone hyped it up so much and in my mind the book was just more fun. They also changed the ending in the movie if I remember correctly, and I felt like it was just too nice and neat.
I this this is a great movie. So funny at times. For me, the film had more humor then then book. The book just didn't click with me. They do make the movie ending nicer then then book. The book tells us that life isn't fair and kind of a downer ending.
