Taken hostage by a convicted murderer while reporting at a prison, Sophie Alton has no idea that the man holding the gun to her head is the bad boy who was her first love in high school. Condemned to life without parole, Marc Hunter finds himself with no choice but to break out of prison after his younger sister disappears with her baby.

Though he regrets what he has to put Sophie through, he can’t let anything get in the way of his stopping the corrupt officials who are set on destroying what’s left of his family. So Ezi, you started yet? I'm about 25% in. Lots of action already. Enjoying it so far.

Just finished this one a few days ago. Really enjoyed it. I found parts of it a little implausible, but I liked the characters so much it didn't matter. And I love Pamela Clare's writing.

I'm not too far into it, but I can't figure out why he never told anyone about (view spoiler)[ his sister and the rapes (hide spoiler)]. Maybe I'll find out he had a good reason, but I'm having trouble with that part.

His feelings are hurt because she doesn't remember him and his star gazing night with her, hehehehe.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I was LMAO watching the whole world come to a stop when Ball & Chain came out. I'm in no hurry. I'm finishing up Charley Davidson #5 and loving it.

My first thought was (view spoiler)[ holy shit! She slept with a guy that 1) she didn't know his last name or even full name 2) didn't use protection 3) didn't ask around the school to find out more information about him 4) didn't later use her ITeam reporter skills to follow up on.

Seriously aren't reporters the nosiest people on the planet? Even if he was married with kids, would she want details? (hide spoiler)]

I kinda raced to the finish on this one late last night/early this morning. I really liked it overall, but agree with the other posters that there were a lot of unanswered questions in the beginning of the story.

LOL. There's quite a lot in the book that you would have to suspend disbelief for methinks.

But (view spoiler)[ I didn't find the night at high school too far fetched. She'd been watching him a long time. Knew he had a reputation, but saw it wasn't fully warranted. The no protection part - well - I hear it does happen LOL Not recognizing him later. Well, maybe. They weren't in the room together too long before he took off. But the excuse of being afriad of finding out he was married or something doesn't hold water for me. It would be too easy just to surf and take a quick look and who could resist that ? but if they go to school and he has a bad boy rep--should she know his name? Her own grandmother told her to stay away from him, her own grandma knows his name, but she doesn't.

I am sorry, I would want to know the name of the person I slept with for the first time. Just sayin'

I got the impression everyone just called him Hunt, and no one mentioned his full name, probably not even her grandmother. But I would think the grandmother would know the family name I guess. And yes, as a reporter, I would think she would be curious enough to at least try and find out.

yea, but with school directories, yearbook etc, there are ways of knowing someone's name. I would be curious, you know?

when i like a guy, I would go look them up in yearbooks, write the names and mine like Mrs. Ezi Pitt (brad pitt) etc.
I just don't see how even AFTER she slept with him she didn't even get a last name. I can't fathom that

LOL - back in the dark ages when I went to school, we didn't have directories in HS. But yearbooks - yes - that would be difficlut to work around. You are right. Obsession, espeically of the teenage variety, would certainly lead to that. But then - where would our story be I guess :-)

I like how they keep mentioning Julian and Reece so we won't forget about the prior 2 book couples, LOL

I thought the fact she didn't recognize him implausible and I just thought she had a singular lack of curiosity about him. I never bought that he was a murderer and she never questioned it. Never questioned him.

True...for someone who has always wanted to be a reporter, she is not inquisitive, curious or observant. Not like the prior two heroinss

I have to agree here, Sophie seemed much more on top of things in Hard Evidence. For her to have her head in the sand that much about Marc is totally out of character for her.

I really am not liking this one as much as the previous one. It's just too ludicrous in a lot of ways. I'm at about 70%.

I am shocked at inept Sophie was in this book. But I really really like Marc. I also like Julian here.

this one wasn't as good as the prior books, but I want to high-five the author for tackling some touchy subjects in her novels. I don't feel like her social commentary is over done.

I agree. Always she is taking on issues head on. And I do love the setting. I lived for quite some time in Denver and boulder and it's fun to recognize places.
