The novel begins in Monte Carlo, where our heroine is swept off her feet by the dashing widower Maxim de Winter and his sudden proposal of marriage. Orphaned and working as a lady's maid, she can barely believe her luck. It is only when they arrive at his massive country estate that she realizes how large a shadow his late wife will cast over their lives--presenting her with a lingering evil that threatens to destroy their marriage from beyond the grave.

I wonder if this is already on my Kindle... I'll try to post a few free versions in the next few days. Maybe an audiobook, too!
I started reading this book, and found my boyfriend's prom receipt as a bookmark! Ha! Pretty silly being 15 years removed from school.
The actual version of te book that I have has such a small typeface I feel as if I am making no progress! However, I'm about 70 pages in and I'm enjoying it... Thus far, it's no Austen or Bronte novel, and that I can appreciate.
I know I'm reading two books at once, but does anyone else feel like they're having trouble making progress on this one?

I'm going to start this on audiobook this week.

I finally finished this last night. As stated, it has a bit of a slow start, but the second half of the book is really stuffed with shit happening..That said, though it is a chick lit novel, I didn't cringe all the way through.
The most unbelievable/worst part or the novel is a complete lack of communication skills from the protagonist. Anxiety, self deprecation I can get- but not talking for months seems extreme.
I'm reading this right now and it's definitely pretty slow. I've seen the musical, so I know what happens and I can't wait to get to the very dramatic moments lol
I started this one finally!!! I got a copy from the library. I'm about 40 pages in. I can tell I'm going to get sucked into it soon.
