Name: Adam BrindlyAge: 25
Occupation: Vertebrae Paleontologist
Appearance:

Description: Adam is 5'11" tall and weighs 150lbs. His eyes are a light chocolate brown and his hair matches them. He usually wears a casual t-shirt and jean shorts, unless he is out on a dig where he changes into khaki shorts, boots, a well pocketed jacket and a wide brimmed hat.
Personality: Adam is quiet and bookish, at least until the dinosaurs came. He then found he was a natural leader, and thanks to his knowledge of the dinos he has managed to survive and protect others very well. He is kind hearted, but determined to get whatever task is at hand done quickly and efficiently.
History: Adam went through school quickly and gained a doctorate in Vertebrae Paleontology. He was on his way to a sparkling career when the dinosaurs got loose. Now he travels the countryside with his sister looking for survivors and secretly documenting the amazing creatures he loves while avoiding danger in both dinosaurs and the fanatics that released them.
Other: Adam loves to sing and draw, but he doesn't like to show anyone, except sometimes his sister, unless she teases him. He may be the older brother, but he is shyer than she.
Jenna had to duck a second time to avoid getting smacked in the face by another tree branch. The air was heavy and thick, making her feel weighed down as she dashed under the tropical canopy. It was only a small thing she stole, something they'd hardly miss. What was it with men and their need for a electrical motherboard to power their air conditioning? Seeing her brother up ahead who she left waiting, Jenna shouted at him, "Run!"
Adam sighed as he waited for his sister. He couldn't remember why they had needed the tech, but she had insisted. He scanned the wilderness for any movements, knowing full well that any Raptors out there would be able to see ten times better than himself. Next time they stole tech he'd look for night vision goggles. Hearing his sister's voice he turned and, seeing her chasers, took off when she reached him. "Well sis, who are these gentlemen and ladies you've led us?" He asked as they ran through the thick undergrowth.
"Ah, well, you know, just the usual. I mean, who needs an air conditioning system in city hall? The people are stuffy enough as it is and the air conditioner wasn't helping them," Jenna told him, slightly breathless as she almost stumbled over another blasted branch. But there was a smile on her face despite everything. She never got tired of this, though she knew it probably exasperated her brother to no end.
Adam laughed and shook his head. He kept running into the night until their pursuers stopped chasing them. When they ran for a few more minutes he slowed to a slow walk. Scanning the jungle Adam kept his senses on high alert, listening and looking for the tell-take signs of any dinosaurs.
Taking deep breaths, Jenna stopped behind her brother as she bent over her knees, her lungs crying for more air. When her breath eventually evened out, she straightened up and quickly caught up with her brother who had kept walking. Looking around, she muttered in a soft voice, "They probably heard our running. Think any of them would show up?"
Adam shook his head. "I don't know. Anything could be out there in the dark. Humans, Deinonychus, maybe even a Dilophosaur or a Tyrannosaur." He said with a shudder. At least we'd be able to hear the big ones."
She grimaced at the mention of the more threatening dinosaurs and unconsciously moved closer to his side. "Well, let's not stay too long to let that happen. Any idea where to stay tonight?" Jenna asked, readjusting the strap of the bag over her shoulder.
Adam moved closer to comfort her. "Well, there's always somewhere to hide out. And as a last resort we could climb a tree. Let's walk for a few more minutes and see if anything comes up."
Nodding, Jenna straightened her shoulders, trying to look more confidently as she strode next to him. Now that she wasn't running, Jenna was able to avoid most of the branches on the ground, her footsteps soft after years of practice. Living with dinosaurs was very helpful in teaching a person a few things such as stealth or how to climb a tree in seconds flat. She wondered what their human ancestors would think of that.
Adam began walking, avoiding the branches and other things that would give away their presence. He marvelled at how much the world had changed sense the dinosaurs had returned. And if the rumours were correct, the continents were on almost connected again, only being seperate a by large lakes and rivers at the moment. Turning to his sister he said softly, "So what was the tech for again?"
Her hand patted the messenger bag slung over her side. "Computer chips are handy for mostly everything. It's always good to have a spare. Then again, perhaps I should try building something for a tracking system. Or trade it in for night vision goggles," Jenna said thoughtfully.
"Night vision goggles would be immensely helpful, maybe we'll run into a tech-merchant on the road." After looking around for a bit, Adam noticed an old rundown looking shack that was almost completely covered with vines. Switching on his torch he walked over to investigate. "Cover me Jenna, hopefully there's nothing in here, but it's good to be sure."
Pulling out her own torch and flicking it on, she nodded before she realized with his back to her he wouldn't be able to see it. "Yeah, okay. Be careful," Jenna told him, before turning around to scan the jungle surrounding them.
Not for the first time Adam wished he had a weapon of some sort. Walking up to the door silently, Adam listened carefully for any movements. He heard a small chirping noise, like that of a small bird. He pushed the door open carefully and shone his torch around. He spotted three or four small, brightly coloured Compsognathus fighting over a rat. He smiled and walked in, causing them to scatter, their feathered bodies flashing in the torch beam. "It's okay Jenna, just a couple Compies."
Her shoulders sagged in relief and Jenna stepped in after him, smiling as she dropped her bag on the floor. "Well, looks like a pretty nice place for being abandoned," she commented, looking around the small room. At least the shack had for walls and was pretty much standing up, which was a plus since there were a couple places they stayed at that didn't even resemble a structure of any kind.
Adam dropped his bag near hers, his being filled more with books and some survival gear. He scavenged what he could when they came across an abandoned place and kept what he seemed valuable. He took his hat off as well and smoothed his hair down. Hopefully they wouldn't be women up tonight. He looked around the shed floor for anything, and noticed a small partially covered trap door. He pulled it open and with a creak and a crack it opened. Inside the small hole were several cans of beans, a box of matches and some ibeauprophin. Apparently someone had been here before but hadn't come back for their things. Adam shuddered at the thought but shook it off. "Shall we have a small fire and a warm meal for once sis?"
Pulling her blue-streaked brown hair up into a ponytail, Jenna found a seat on what was once a bed, but it was now just a rusty frame with a board on top. Smiling at Adam, she shrugged. "We haven't that for quite some time and I wouldn't want to turn down a chance for some good food and warmth. It might be another long while before our next time too."
"True indeed." Adam said with a smile. He began gathering bits of wood and scraps of dead leaves and vines from the shed floor. He put them in a pile and lit them with the matches. In a few minutes they had a small warm fire casting an orange glow over the shed. He took a can of beans and some jerky he had found, put them in a small pan he had and began cooking them over the flames.
Deciding she should do something other than just sitting there watching, Jenna snatched up her bag and went over the supplies inside to make sure she had everything. In the brief lull of silence, there was a distant screeching sound that made her pause, her head tilted to the side. Glancing over to her brother with a raised brow, she asked, "Which one is that?" It was sort of a game they've had since they were young, where she made him guess what dinosaur's call it was. He was uncannily accurate in Jenna's opinion.
Adam had heard the call and expected the question would follow. "It was probably a Gallimimus." Adam said with a grin. The tall dinosaurs traveled in packs through swamps and flood plains, searching for plants and small invertebrates to eat. "That means there's water nearby, we may want to check it out in the morning." His canteen had been feeling rather light of late.
"Sounds like a plan," she said, setting her bag down and moving to crouch on the floor next to him to be closer to the heat and better watch the food cooking. Thinking for a moment, Jenna asked with her head tilted slightly, "I know you're the map guy, so where are we heading, Adam? I mean, I know I asked you this before, but I just want to make sure."
"I want to head to the coast. There is supposed to be a settlement there, and I've heard the continents are moving closer than ever, you can take a small raft to the European continent!" Adam's eyes shone, the idea of the world becoming one supercontinent again excited him oddly.
Jenna grinned at her brother and gave him a play nudge with her shoulder. "Maybe we can check out Old London or Paris. Don't you think it would be cool to see the Eiffel Tower now?" She liked reading when she was younger--probably because she wanted to be as bookish as her brother before she discovered technological materials-- and whenever she read about those cities, Jenna couldn't help but think with wonderment at the old world.
"It's probably been turned into a pterosaur nest now." Adam said with a chuckle. Lots of tall old buildings had been taken over by the pesky pterosaurs. They were like great flocks of seagulls or other birds, noisy, messy and abundant. He warmed his hands over the fire and then took off the food which had finished cooking. Ladling out some of the beans and meat he gave a serving to Jenna and then served himself.
"Probably, but it'll still be great to see." Taking her fork, she impatiently blew on her food before taking a nice, warm bite of beans and meat. Giving an mmm, Jenna chewed slowly. Glancing over at Adam, she said, "We really should have a warm meal more often when we can. Maybe instead of goggles we should get another hot meal."
"Perhaps." Adam said with a grin. He enjoyed the chance to get a hot meal, and he knew that soon they wouldn't be getting another for a while. As he scraped the last bite off his pan he sighed and sat back and smiled. "That was delicious."
Though Jenna typically was a slow eater, she wolfed down her food, eager to get something in her stomach after using so much energy for running. Taking his bowl and setting aside with her to wash for later, she leaned back against the bed frame. "Now just have some ice cream and this shack could be a luxury hotel," she joked.
"Wouldn't that be the best." Adam agreed. He sat back and listened to the sounds of the forest around them. Time held no meaning in the world anymore, it was simply sunrise, day, sunset and night. They slept when they were tired and woke early ready to travel and stay alive another day. Adam yawned and looked over at his sister. "I'll take the first watch if you'd like."
Noticing him yawn, she looked at him with a raised brow and shook her head. "No, you should get some sleep. I'm not tired yet," Jenna told him, tapping the bed frame behind her with her knuckle before she shifted and rose to her feet.
"Alright." Adam said with another yawn. "Wake me in a few hours." He pulled his bag over and climbed onto the bed frame. In a few minutes he was asleep, they had had a long day.
Jenna made sure his breaths were even before she started moving about. She went over to a chair in the opposite corner and pulled out the computer chip for inspection before making sure the rest of her supplies were in good shape, especially being jumbled about from her run. Unfortunately, as a technician, she couldn't bring much with her, though she always had a tool kit ready if need be. Looking at what she had, Jenna decided that she definitely need to get more stuff in order to make anything useful.
The sky's above the dark forest grew cloudy as a tropical storm threatened to arise. A female tyrannosaur looked up at the cloudy sky from it's recent kill. She gave a loud roar before going back to digging in to her meal.
Digging through her bag, Jenna pulled out her watch and strapped around her wrist while checking out the time. She debated whether to let him sleep longer, but decided he'd most likely scold her for that. Going over to the bed, she shook his shoulder. "Adam," she said in a loud whisper. "Time to switch."
Adam woke quickly, used to waking at a moments notice. He nodded and left the bed. "Sleep well sis." He sat near the door and looked out a hole in the roof. Thunder rumbled far away as the clouds thickened.
Placing her sleeping bag on the bed frame instead of his, Jenna quickly folded his up and laid down. Pulling the sleeping bag over her shoulder and snuggling down, Jenna popped her head out and smiled at Adam. "'Night." Then with a yawn, she turned her face away and fell asleep immediately.
Adam leaned back and watched her sleep. He smiled, glad that the day had gone well. After an hour or so rain started to fall. The night was still warm, and a breeze swept through the tall trees.
Jenna looked more like her age when she was asleep as the typical furrow of her brow was gone. She found herself in some dream, though she couldn't tell where she was or who was in her dream. It was as if she walking through a town full of faceless ghosts. It made her shiver and scrunch down further in her sleeping bag.
Adam noticed her movements and assumed she was dreaming. He walked over to her bedside and stroked her hair, noticing the troubled expression on her face. "Shhh, shh. It's okay sis. I'm here." He whispered softly.
His voice somehow reached her and slowly, her muscles relaxed and her breaths were deep as the dream faded away. Slipping into the blankness of sleep, Jenna's mouth twitched up slightly in a smile.
Adam smiled and went back to his previous position. After another hour the sky lightened as the sun made ready to rise.
Golden rays started to filter through the canopy further announced by the chattering of the birds swaying in the top branches in a gentle breeze. Jenna's eyes flew open and she frowned as she tried to think what woke her up before her ears caught the sounds of those birds. A couple of times, her eyelids threatened to close again, but she eventually struggled to sit up, rubbing her eyes. "Good morning," she said, not even sure if her brother was in the room until she looked around.
Adam had started packing his bag, preparing for another day. One of the bushes outside had had some berries growing on it, and he had prepared a plate for her, leaving it next to the bed. "Good morning sis. How did you sleep?"
Looking at the plate, then at her brother, Jenna smiled and shook her head to herself. "Good, I guess. I think I dreamed, but I don't remember what it was about. Anything interesting happen while I was sleeping?" she asked, picking up the plate and popping in a few berries in her mouth before offering it to her brother.
He declined the plate, already having eaten. "Nothing much, there was a small rainstorm last night so everything is damp, but it's already warming up." As he spoke, clouds of soft steam were rising from the forest.
She raised a questioning brow at him to make sure, then shrugged and popped in a few more chewing as she listened to him. Nodding, Jenna commented, "Well, it looks like this shack is more airtight than I thought. It would be strange to wake up in a sauna."
"It certainly would be. When you're ready we should head out." Adam said semi grimly. "We don't want to stay in one place to long until we know where we are."

Age: 21
Occupation: Technical engineer
Appearance:
Description: Jenna stands at 5'6" and weights 126 lbs. Her eyes are a dark brown and her natural hair is a chocolate brown, but she's dyed it and has streaks of blue in it. Usually she wears a black top with jeans, but it depends on her mood.
Personality: Jenna likes to act like the tough girl, often teasing, sarcastic, and kind of stubborn. Actually, really stubborn. She doesn't like to come across as soft or a crybaby, because she doesn't want to distract her brother from his own goals and she feels like she could be a burden.
History: While her brother was away at college, Jenna was interned to a technical engineer where she basically learned everything for her career and more that she discovered on her own. She dropped her studying when her brother graduated and they left together to figure out how the dinosaurs broke loose. Though she complains about their traveling, Jenna thinks that this is the most fun she ever had with her brother.
Other: Though she chose to be a technical engineer, Jenna has always had a fondness for animals of all kinds, even the dinosaurs. She knows some first aid for people and animals, and if you catch her, she's surprisingly really gentle. Also, she'll never admit this, but Jenna admires her brother a lot and she hopes that he can continue his career after their adventure.
