I find my defition of happiness has changed over time. I used to say watching funny movies or reading a funny comic strip would make me happy. Maybe I would say doing well at something would make me happy.
But, what makes me happy nowadays is seeing other people happy. I'm happy when others I know succeed and especially happy when my kid's and wife seem happy.
Also, any funny cat picture from the internet will make me happy for at least a day.

I'm thinking a lot like you, 'Worm. A hug from one of my boys can make me very happy, as can a bike ride on a sunny day or kind words about my books.
Well, if you're going to be that way, Sam, I'd have to say chocolate. Chocolate, and coffee. GOOD chocolate and coffee.
Good tea and a book to go with it, maybe some cookies for good measure. Playing with my nieces and nephew. Walks in the forest. Finding cool vintage items at garage sales and thrift shops. Mushroom hunting. Picking wild blackberries. Brewing beer. Making apple cider. Making jams and jellies. Building stuff. Gardening. Playing soccer. Good music (listening or playing). Guitars. Comic books. Farmer's markets... Happiness is where you find it.
And a good book to read while consuming good coffee and chocolate and getting hugs from my kids and laudatory emails from my fans.
Mathew pretty much nailed it there. Add a really good dessert after dinner and some time to be alone each day - something I've been sorely missing lately, and it spells happiness for me.
You know what makes me happy about my job? I can listen to the radio. I've really grown to love the radio. Not the music kind, but, the radio documentary kind.
