Just curious - why do you enjoy cozy mysteries?

I've always loved mysteries of all kinds. I didn't even realize cozies was a separate genre until a couple of years ago. The thing I love most about them is that they are set in small towns and I feel like I'm re-visiting old friends. Plus, I like that there's not a lot, if any, gore.

Christina I like that they are sometimes quick reads, most of the characters are easy to like, love the laughs from some of the humor. That is just a few!

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) It isn't my top genre, if I interpret the query as "What brings you here". It is one sub-type I enjoy, if well done. I participate in all challenges that follow my reading in some form. :)

My favourite if every enjoys the FYI is: a properly atmoshpheric, non-YA, paranormal story. This needn't be a mystery, nor fictional. Secondly, in lieu of the paranormal, for that properly-heightened atmosphere is: the gothic mystery. Cozies are third. I have no interest in police types nor anything gross but do like a darker, blunter pace; even well-done horror.
