If you were sent into exile and were allowed to take only FIVE books with you, what would those be?

message 2: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Cindy would a book series count as one? It should do,lol. If not that a very hard answer. I'll have a bit of a think.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, this question just popped up in my head and I am still pondering the answer. I guess a series would be fair game, but each book in the series counts against the five. Hard isn't it?

Julia (juliace) I would bring

Life Application Study Bible NIV by Anonymous The Complete Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer Mrs. Mike by Benedict Freedman Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Interesting Julia. I am working on mine, but I know that a Bible would be one of them. That's one that you can never get enough of.

message 6: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) The Bible for comfort, hope and faith and Calvin & Hobbes for some humor.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, must have a good mix.

message 8: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've got Winter Garden waiting to be delivered Julia, it sounds like a really good book.
Wizard and Glass Wizard and Glass (The Dark Tower, #4) by Stephen King would be no.1

Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set (Mistborn, #1-3) by Brandon Sanderson
Its a box set so maybe that's one but if not then Mistborn: The Final Empire would be no.2

The Eight The Eight by Katherine Neville no.3

The Fifth Elephant: (Discworld Novel 24) by: Terry Pratchett The Fifth Elephant (Discworld Novel 24) by Terry Pratchett by Terry Pratchett maybe no.4

I'll have to think some more for my no.5. Its hard to pick!

Sam Arnold (samharnold) Have been thinking about this for ages. Have finally come up with.

The Stand The Stand by Stephen King
Brave New World Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The Passage The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin
Pharmacology Pharmacology by Christopher Herz

A blank notebook

message 15: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Well, one would be a Judeo-Christian Bible, since it's played such an immense role in the world and is a never-ending source of entertainment.

I would probably want some kind of medical encyclopedia.

I'd take a book about the local flora and fauna as well.

Ulysses would go, since that's probably what it would take for me to finish it.

And then I guess whatever I was reading at the time.

I LOVE the blank notebook answer.

Yes, I like the blank notebook also. I thought this might be a thought-provoking exercise. I'm still thinking on mine. Thanks for all the interesting responses.

Julia (juliace) @ Sam - LOVE the blank notebook response

message 19: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments The blank note book is a really great idea Sam:) and lots of the book choices people have been coming up with are good as well. But now I want to add The Stand and The Passage to mine as well! Its difficult to pick just five. Could I take my nexus as one of my choices?

message 20: by Sam (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) I just knew I had to have something to write as well as read hence the blank notebook.
