but Gianluigi Bonelli is an author not a fictional character, what to do in this case?

I'd add Gian Luigi Bonelli as another author (wikipedia agrees) and remove him from the list of characters.

Authors can be characters as well - such as Stephen King putting himself in the Dark Tower books. Would he be allowed to be listed as a character? Just curious, never thought of that before.

I'd think any character actually named in the book would be fine.

Bonelli seemed to have returned as a character in the work above. Deleted him again. (His author profile is Gianluigi Bonelli.)
