I thought with spring approaching and nice weather on the horizon (or at least we can hope...) why not take the last weekend of winter to stay inside and read?
The event will be next weekend, March 14-16. This isn't a 72-hour read-till-you-drop kind of thing, but it IS a way to take a couple days to push ahead on your yearly goal, knowing that others are doing the same thing.
If you plan to participate, post here with your goals for the weekend -- a certain amount of time spent reading, or a page count you're aiming for, or the book(s) you want to get through by the time the weekend is over.
Happy reading!

I think I'll set a page number goal, rather than try to force myself to decide what to read.

I'm not sure what my goals will be, it depends on where I am heading into the weekend.

I've decided to read solely from my physical bookshelf this Readathon. Now to choose which ones and how many! And if I want to dig in bins or just go with books actually on a bookshelf. Hmm!

I am now officially shutting down my computer for awhile. Time to read! Think I'll start with the nonfiction.

YAY YAY YAY!!! A whole weekend of nothing but reading!!! I am going to try and read while working. Its a busy day so I may not get started until after 5pm. But I sure am going to try!!!! YAY!!!!!
Home from work and settling in for the Readathon! Putting my e-book (kinda boring anyways) and audiobook (for my work commute) on hold for the weekend to complete my mission of reading...let's say 3-4 physical books from my bookcase. Randomly pulled Yeah, I Said It by Wanda Sykes. Onward and readward! :) Good luck everybody!

ARRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm about 100 pages into Carrie. Hoping to get a little bit more in before bed, but even if I don't that's not bad for a first day.
Oh no, Dawn! Hope you finally got to read! Sucks when stuff gets in the way.
I just finished Yeah, I Said It. 247 pages down. Next I'm going to read A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb.
I decided to dig out my Goodreads First Reads books and get reading and reviewing so as to up my chances on winning more. I've won 6 over the past year and a half and have only read and reviewed 2, which were crappy books. :/ So hopefully 1 or 2 of those will be after A Certain Slant of Light.

I got about 50 pages in while updating my mom's iPad. I am so not sleepy so am going to try for 50 more tonight [it is 12:20am here in NW PA]. And tomorrow it is all books. all the time. :-)
Elyse, I hate when you are excited to read a book and it is crappy. And THEN you have to review it. UGH. I have never won one here. It would be cool.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I have been MIA. My feelings got hurt in one of my other groups and because of that I took a step back from Goodreads all together. In retrospect I should have just dealt with that issue and gone on with my favorite groups like 75. So I'm here and ready to get started again but I wanted to apologize first. I'm looking forward to the readathon and catching up with all of you! I'm on my way to RI for my father in laws birthday but I'll try to check in tonight.

Congratulations!!!!!
Thanks for understanding :)
It's hard when you feel like you we're let down by people that you thought were friend.
I'm over it though and ready to pick up my first book of the year!

Welcome back, Andrea!
I just finished A Certain Slant of Light at 282 pages. So now I'm up to 2 physical books and 529 pages read. Next up is the Goodreads First Reads book I've had the longest of the 4, Shards of Time by Seth Scharon. Looks odd. Lol.

I am in the final stretch of "Gracefully Insane" and will be heading into the second Divergent book later tonight. I am dreading it because I disliked the first one so much. But I am committed to reading it and I really want to find out what happens. If only the writing were better...Hunger Games totally spoiled me.

Gaijinmama, good luck to you! I couldn't resist myself. The only time I would put those books down was when something totally unexpected happened (like the red wedding) and had to process and mourn.
Today has been a day of movie-watching, eating, napping, and a little reading. I've had a nasty migraine most of the day so it was hard to concentrate. I just finished Shards of Time which was pretty painful. At 249 pages, I'm up to 3 physical books and 778 pages read. Going to continue I Capture the Castle now, my e-book, but I'm not expecting to read too much more tonight. Probably going to bed soon. My goal was 3-4 physical books so I done good! :) Hope everyone else had an accomplished Readathon!

Elyse, I hope your migraine goes away quickly. Those are just awful and I really feel for you!!!
I admire ANYONE who can read Game of Thrones. I could not. Ever.
