Hayley | 27 comments Hi! My name is Hayley and I was invited to check out the group by Annie.

When it comes to reading I would characterize myself as insatiable. I read anything I can get my hands on.... I wouldn't say I discriminate against anything except maybe romantic fluff.... That being said I have a soft spot for Canadian literature, science fiction, or anything to do with food. I may or may not read cookbooks before bed. As testament to my love of books, one only needs to walk into my house and check out my floor to ceiling collection!

In September I welcomed my son Malcolm. He likes to nap in my arms, so I spend a fair amount of time in my 'nest' on the couch reading, I can't complain :)
This seems like it will be a great place to chat about books! I've been on Goodreads for awhile but never really found a group which resonated with me.

A little insight into my reading habits; some books off the top of my head that 1. I enjoyed 2. I still to this day can't stop thinking about and 3. I would highly recommend:

- A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
- Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden
- Life After God by Douglas Coupland
- Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
- Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
- The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
- 1984 by George Orwell
- Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Welcome Hayley and Congratulations on welcoming Malcolm into your world!

I too am large reader, although I haven't kept up as much as I would like to lately, too much on my plate.

Right now I am just about finished with 'Midnight's Children' and am really enjoying 'The Golem and the Jinni'.

We meet again Hayley!

I'm glad you decided to take a look at us! Feel free to post any questions about any book you are reading in our book related discussion thread :) Or you can just lurk, like many of our members.

You'll also find that we're laid back in some aspects which I think is great because we don't form cliques like I heard other people experienced in other groups.

Sounds like Malcolm is your little reading buddy! How cute! Do you read to him?

Hayley | 27 comments Megan- Midnights Children has been on my list for a long time... You hear so much about it... Do you think it's worth the hype? Would you recommend it?

Annie- So far I have been surrounding the little dude with books so hopefully a love of reading rubs off on him. We have been reading to him since he was born... Babies just love to hear your voice:) my husband can't wait for a few years to introduce him to all of his favourites like LOTR! I am building a good collection for him already... We make weekly trips to Janus books downtown (have you been there? It's awesome!) to pick up some good stuff.
