I don't think I can go a day without listening to music! I literally listen to everything except country and heavy metal stuff. I Looove Bastille, Avicii, Arctic Monkeys, Ellie Goulding, The 1975... Haha I just love it all. :)

I love Classical :) PLEASE SAY OTHER PEOPLE DO! I go to the Royal academy junior department in London and it's soooo fun! I also love musical theater and I think what Carrie does in Les mis is just amazing :) xx

I'm actually majoring in classical music so it's great to hear you enjoy it too! I listen to all kinds of music and I'm fascinated by how creative, emotional & unique they might be. However, showtunes are my thing! I also study mt :)

I like a lot of music really! I particularly like songs that have meanings that are shown through the music and make me feel happy, inspired or relaxed! I listen to music whenever I can because it feels like a different world! My favourite bands are McBusted (seeing them in may woo!), the Vamps, the Killers, All Time Low, 5 SOS and so many more! I like pretty much everything except for a lot of the chart music!! I especially love listening to Carrie's songs/covers and also Tom Law's who is another YouTuber :)
I play the Trombone in concert band! My section is so loving and supportive, there's none of that weird hierarchy about who gets First chair because we're all playing not to be better than each other, but because we love music with all of our hearts. I like listening to the super sickeningly girly stuff (Alex's Epigrams and Interludes was the first album I ever purchased on iTunes), Classical stuff, (I'd die without NPR), Dubstep, and *cringes* I actually really like gangster rap. It's only because that stuff is all that one of my friends owns, so we'd listen to that every time we went on a drive
Oh and I just realized I've never listened to McFly! OMIGOSH I've been a Hopeful for over a year and haven't heard any of their music and been aware that that was them. I've got to fix this!!

Music is basically everything for me, I play flute and piano, I sing, I'm obsessed with musical theatre and I listen to basically any movie soundtrack or showtunes, Imagine Dragons, pretty much any genre of music except rap, screamo, etc. So yeah. Hi :P
I listen to quite a bit of alternative rock and punk rock, I also love show-tunes, Disney songs and some country/pop but not much. I also play flute and a bit of piano :3
I mostly like alternative rock, but I pretty much like anything :)
I'm going to be the odd one out in all of this and say JLS *shuffles away*. but I also love youtubers like Carrie, Emma Blackery and Alex Day. But at the same time I like McFly so a mix really!
*still don't know how to reply* Flo: don't you hate that moment when your phone is across the room, and Emma's "The Promise" starts to play but you can't change it because you can't reach it...then the only thing to do is sit there and wallow in feels :( [I'm not even trying to be cliche when I say that song saved my life a few times]

Well my music in a nutshell is rock bands, girl artists like Demi lovato and Miley Cyrus, many musicals as I'm obsessed, my latest musical obsession is Matilda the Musical. I only enjoy a bit of Disney, I am quite musical as I play clarinet, ukulele and keyboard.
Darby- YES!! The promise is one of my favourite songs on the EP! Especially when I feel shit, it reminds me that people do care, just a perfect song really!

Anyway, I play the guitar, piano, a bit of the ukulele and sing (only in the showers though :P) I'm probably the snail in the group since my musical ability is about the size of an ant but I love music nonetheless; I love the 1975, the neighbourhood, Gabrielle Aplin and loads more :)x
Estella, I love classical music too! Particularly Chopin! As well as classical music I love Carrie, Alex, Chameleon Circuit, Dog Ears (Mat Baynton), Gorillaz, The Beatles, Queen, Dionne Bromfield and other people like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder etc. I have quite a varied music taste but I'm not a big fan of modern day pop (much to the dismay to a lot of my friends!). I also love musicals a lot and of course Disney songs! x
And Sophie, I LOVE Dexy's Midnight Runners! Come on Eileen is one of my all time favourite songs! I first heard it in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and then on a baby milk ad (cow and gate?) and then my dad introduced it to me properly! :)
oh and i play clarinet, piano, recorder (dont laugh it's a proper instrument) and i'm teaching myself guitar and ukulele! i also sing in my school choir and in a choir out of school :) who else plays instruments? :) ps sorry i keep on commenting! cant sleep and hopefuls are so lovely and kind! (and music is my favourite thing in the world-i dont know what i would do without it) x

Isabella: I play the keyboard and I'm also learning guitar and ukelele by myself. But mostly I sing (it's an instrument too, isn't it?)
My music taste varies a lot. My favourite artists include One Direction, All Time Low, Carrie, Alex and Taylor Swift but I really enjoy listening to just about anything.I really wish I could learn how to play guitar but I don't have any time to take up lessons.
Most of the stuff I listen to is music I also like to play on the guitar/keyboard/ukulele. I also listen to Demi Lovato, McFly, Mumford & Sons, All Time Low, Simple Plan, Fall Out Boy & a lot of glee songs. And lately I'm really into Fifth Harmony!! Also my friends are in love with kpop and force me to listen to that, I think that counts? X
I play piano and sing. I like music and artists because they write their own music (and its good!) or have a REALLY good voice. So i guess that's why i really like Mcfly ;)

Carrie, Alex, McFly, Emma, Dave Days, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Sleeping with Sirens, top 40, Disney, Macklemore... the list goes on :p I'll listen to pretty much anything haha

You people have /amazing/ taste in music! I just have to ask, since I know that Carrie likes them (or did anyway) - anyone who listens to My Chemical Romance? It still hurts a bit to listen to them but I have to say that they're my favourite band by far.
Love The Killers and Aerosmith. I really like bands like All Time Low, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, The Pretty Reckless, You Me At Six, Green Day and Blink-182 as well. Love a bit of Frank Turner and Relient K too. Don't mind Taylor Swift either.

So I realise that this group is primarily for discussing books, but I figured than since Carrie is so involved with music, a music discussion board wouldn't go amiss here.
What kinds of music (if any) do you all like to listen to?
When I was younger, I listened to alternative rock pretty much exclusively. However, over the past few years, I've found my tastes developing and I now listen to just about anything with an interesting melody or lyrics that resonate with me.
