The Novel, Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins falls under the science fiction genre. The main themes in this book are interdependence, loyalty, government control, and rebellion. These themes are similar to The Hunger Games, the first book in the series. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark return home to District 12 after winning the 74th Hunger Games in the previous novel. (The Hunger Games is an event where the districts are forced to send a boy and a girl to a death match every year.) Being victors, Katniss and Peeta can finally focus on their lives and not have to be worried about competing in the Games. Later, it is announced that, for the 75th Hunger Games, 24 victors from previous years will be forced to compete once again. This news shatters them both but they are left with no other choice than to fight for their lives yet again. This time, the Games are a little different due to the fact that all the contenders are professional killers. Numerous sacrifices are made by the characters during the battle and they realize that the real enemy is the capitol; not each other. Will Katniss and Peeta be lucky enough to survive a second time? Go read the book and find out for yourself in this exhilarating adventure!
This book is similar to mine in that the main characters are trying to overthrow the government and start a rebellion. I have read this book before, so I agree with what you are saying, and this book keeps you on your feet. I would definitely recommended it to someone to read after reading the first one.
I have also read this book before as well as the first one and I can say that I enjoyed it very much. I love how thrilling it is and the bravery found among the main character, Katniss. You make the book sound just as good as it really is.
